I was recommended to see Dr.Goicochea by my OBGYN. She found a nodule on the left side of my…read moreThyroid. First of in his office there are a lot of "Best of..." plaques. Obviously he is very good and has many years of experience. He did an Ultrasound and two biopsies to decide for the best procedure. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything with patience the entire time. It is hard to understand all these medical terms but he had patience and made me feel as comfortable as I could feel. The first biopsy was pretty painless and over fast. The second one needed more specimen for a special DNA test and was a bit more uncomfortable but still totally fine. After results came back 60% probability for cancer he suggested to get only half of the thyroid removed. He also gave me the option to remove the whole thing because a lot of people choose that for peace of mind. I chose to remove half. My procedure was done at the Massachusetts Ave Surgery Center On surgery day he came to talk to me before the procedure. Explaining what's going to happen. He is so calm and professional it makes you feel better. Surgery went great. I woke up sore to swallow but ok. The first 3 days of recovery were sore and than pretty good after that. So I'd recommend to take 3-4 days off of work. The incision is healing up nice after a week and a half. It looks like the incision is going to be pretty nice and clean. I got stitches from this inside so no stitches scars to come. Yay Thank you Dr.Goicochea for taking care of me. I will recommend him to anyone that has to deal with Thyroid issues

My first…read moremeeting was informative, I did not realize the severity of my situation but he advised me to get specific testing so he would know to proceed with surgery. After results came back, we scheduled surgery within 2 weeks and I was TERRIFIED however many of the nurses at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital let me know they have never seen incisions as clean and virtually unnoticeable as his. The surgery went very well, lasted about 3 hours (I was slightly a special case) I barely had a sore throat and resumed normal life the day after. His bedside manner is awesome and he definitely put me at ease as this was my first surgery. He has also worked on close family friends of mine and they all say the same of Dr. Goicochea! Highly trained, knowledgeable and professional.

MontCare Potomac:…read more We were very dissatisfied with this facility. My mother was placed here for about one month in 2024. The furniture was quite old and dilapidated -- think busted drawers and broken handles on cabinets. We worried about our mother's safety as dementia patients were allowed to wander in and out of her room.We were required to direct these dementia patients (thankfully, they were women) out of her room. The nursing station, although nearby, was understaffed and was unable to monitor patient rooms. Our mother contracted COVID-19 at this facility and when we complained to management about the strong likelihood that she got it from dementia patients wandering into her room, our concerns were dismissed outright. We were told that, "it could have been one of the nurses". When we countered that by stating if all nurses were on duty nightly (we came every night/evening), why were there no absences among the nurses? Furthermore, we asked why the facility isn't testing its staff, to which the management replied that it wasn't necessary. The management personnel just reiterated that we had no proof it was from one of the dementia patients. As our mother was elderly, the physical therapist (a young lady more concerned about her Instagram page) was totally disinterested; and in my humble opinion, did not conduct an adequate assessment to determine that my mother wouldnot receive physical therapy. If your loved one is quite elderly or very incapacitated, think twice about this facility. Its good rating does not reflect the reality.

I am now perusing senior care for myself and came upon these reviews for Manor Care. My mother had…read more3 stays, and the first 2 were fine. The last was awful. The staff did not enable her to be independent and set limits on her neediness and instead capitulated to her desire to be babied. One nurse observed her getting out of bed on her own, but for all the other instances, the staff would rush in and my mother would regress. They were unresponsive to my feedback. This is in essence not rehab but malpractice avoidance. Implementing a behavior plan was not in their playbook. Difficulties extended to physical therapy, where therapists are writing notes in iPads while patients circumnavigate the room and are attended to by associates, rather than at least some hands on from the therapists. However, the PT plan was appropriate, but again, nursing allowed her to regress. This lead to my very frank confrontations with social work about her lack of contact, failure to respond to messages, and my refusal to agree with their recommendation for long term care that they enabled. Then my mother developed a serious oral infection, they misdiagnosed her for not one but two (one very easy for C-diff) conditions and only when I stated she needed TPN did they agree to hospital transfer. She wound up with surgery and then to another rehab elsewhere. But at that time Manor Care was still regarded as having "laurels" in their care and the deterioration was not as yet evident in the community. And the profit aspect was clearly evident by accepting her again after surgery, despite the trajectory and feedback from our last visit All of the reviews are consistent with my experience. Clearly they're on the same path.

BEWARE: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, ENERGY OR MONEY!…read more Where do I start?! I bought a groupon for this place and have been trying hard to get my treatments done so I can be done with this place for good. I should have gotten a refund months ago, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since I had never had laser done before and I was so excited and eager to have it done. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. First problem: Staff is shoddy. Voicemails are NEVER returned and it is very very RARE that they even answer the phone. They can't hold down a receptionist and there is never a physician on site. Next, of my 5 appointments to date, EVERY SINGLE ONE has been rescheduled at least once, some twice and once 3 times. This is not an acceptable way to do business. Also, when they reschedule, its usually for weeks ahead., not close to your original date. Unacceptable. I am told they only have one laser in the office (and it is not maintained properly)... hence the fact that it overheated and SHUT OFF during my first treatment and I've had several reschedules due to the laser being "down" I am trying to get my last treatment in but now I'm being told the laser was damaged in the storm because it was left plugged in over the weekend and they don't know when it might be fixed. REALLY? I had my treatment scheduled for before my vacation so I could get it done and not have to worry about sun exposure. Well, guess what? My appt was rescheduled for a few days before I leave, and I get a call a few hours before my appt to reschedule again. I'm told it wont be fixed till after I leave for vacation, now I'm stuck and can't have this treatment till Fall. I'm told "there's nothing we can do". The one technician, Alicia, who only worked on weekends was the only saving grace to this place. Unfortunately, she told me at my last visit that she was resigning and leaving. I don't blame her at all. I wouldn't even want this place on my resume. Lastly, I'm not even sure the laser has been working properly all along. I have had 5 treatments and I only see a very little result. I know that even if I get the 6th treatment, it wont get rid of hair. I will have to invest (again) elsewhere to have the hair removed. I know everyone is different, but I know people who have only had 2 or 3 treatments and have seen better results than i'm seeing with 5. I have a hard time believing a business with this many bad business practices & poor quality is even still open. My opinion, it wont be for long. Once my treatment is done, I'll never go back. Ever.

I've been to Shady Grove Laser a few times now and I'm (almost) hair free! The staff is…read moreprofessional and accommodating. Dr. Behram is thorough and knows what he's doing. Hopefully I'll try out their other services soon!
