The weather was mid 60's which is not conducive to long ball flight additionally the course yardage on the scorecard was mathematically not long, so why did it play so difficult? Elevation changes are common, walking off yardage from the marker's is important to a player that desired it. I mis-clubbed all day and the dense air coupled with 6 beers the evening prior and I just could not score. The greens hold approach shouts quite well as they were damp, but not soggy. I could not wrap my mind around how lightning quick and how much subtle break were in all of my putts. I made one 8 footer all day-nothing outside of that and little inside of that. Its the shortest longest course I have ever played..

However, the GPS on our cart said we were eight minutes ahead and by the end of our 18th hole we were 27 minutes ahead according to their carts and we were counseled by the Ranger and the people behind us were hitting into us. Why would you put seven threesomes behind a foursome horrible course management the people behind the counter were rude and the Ranger was extremely rude. That is not what I payed $188.00 for. A group of old guys hitting into us, just a horrible experience. By the way. We finished out 18 holes in 3:40 minutes in my 30+ years of playing golf that's not slow. The corse was pretty and well maintained but their customer service sucked.

I've taken Norm Davidson's 6 "1-hour" golf lessons for $69 three times now. Not because he is a bad…read moreteacher, but because I am a bad student. I have always seemed to miss 1-2 classes out of the 6 weeks. One hour is a ridiculous understatement, since Norm is so chatty that lessons are 2-1/2 hours long. He wants to make sure that everyone really understands what he is teaching, but I wish they would warn you of the lengthy lesson time when you register for them. His lessons aren't about hitting a golf ball per se, but more about having a great swing so that you do hit the ball. He explains things in such a way that I can really understand what he is talking about. Several pros help him with the lessons, so there is always someone to ask about things you don't understand. You don't actually hit the ball much during the lessons, but you're paying to be taught the swing and you have to practice on your own time. My kids took his Junior Golf Lessons a couple of years ago, and he was able to really teach them as well as he teaches the adults. They loved him and love the lessons. The people who work at the Golf Emporium are always very friendly and helpful, and I've gotten some good bargains there on shoes, balls, a glove -- and this year, golf clubs. Their prices for a bucket of balls isn't expensive either. I wish I lived closer - I'd visit more often. I also wish I were wealthy. Norm charges $150 an hour for private lessons, but I think he'd be well worth it!

While at Tullymore a local turned us on to Pilgrim's Run and I'm glad he did. The green fees (half the cost of the aforenamed courses) were more than reasonable and for a public course it was superbly maintained and in impeccable shape. The course was challenging yet playable. My only critique, which is outside the staff's control, was the Cotton Wood trees were in full bloom and I remember doing a lot of sneezing. Anyway, my purpose in traveling to MI was to play some of the top public courses in the country and I feel like any future trip to MI would not be complete w/o visiting this gem!

I told the lady I was a senior and she charged me 63.00 my reply to her is why so much to golf on a friday. her reply was that it's not a weekday this week and I had to pay the weekend rate. doesn't say anything on there rate board about some fridays as not being a weekday. I wanted to spend time with my Boy's so i paid her and continued to the tee box. after 2 holes we got backed up by a couple of Drunk foursomes and I mean a minimum of 15 minutes every hole. it took us almost 4 hours to get through the front 9. Screw this course I will never come back.
