Greg gave us a very thorough tour of the facilities and was very professional in answering all our questions. Nice venue. Adequate parking. Some ADA spaces. Large lobby area. Retro vibe in building due to wood paneling, sconces and other lighting and window accents/shapes and vaulted ceiling. Only issue I see is that ADA restrooms aren't easily accessible. Hello everyone. At the moment I can leave my feedback. First of all, 1. Sanitary services that do not check the school for cleanliness. 2. It's time to change the announcers so that they do not spoil the children's psyche. 3. Police officers are often not on duty during the school process. 4. The food for children is incorrectly composed, many children feel bad after lunch. 5. There is no medical care for students during school hours. 6. Why do they accept different people from different countries to the school if there is no language teacher who will give a good lesson to the student. 7. The school district needs to be closed and a new one opened that will meet the standards for schools and children. 8. There is no control over the clothing and appearance of children. 9. A large number of children in the school is unacceptable. 10. The equipment for children is old. 11. Teachers get tired of working with so many students, they cannot convey excellent information to the students so that they are interested and want to go to school. 11. Whoever came up with the reviews and doesn't read them and draw conclusions, why are we writing here then? First of all, the swimming pool there is so salty, it's basically like swimming in a recreation of the ocean. I was there for a swim meet as I was on the Arcadia team, but as soon as I jump in the water to swim, I opened my mouth to breathe, but only to get a horrible taste of pure saltiness. Everyone else who jumped in complained about how it tasted too salty, and I can't believe how Glendale High School swimmers and staff don't realize how salty the pool is and how they don't mind the water. Swimming pool water should have a slight taste of chlorine, but not too much salt. After I was done swimming, I went home and had to rinse my mouth with mouthwash and brush my teeth cause I couldn't take anymore of this ocean pool water. Someone needs to drain the pool and test the water quality to see if there is an equal amount of chlorine. read more

Visited 4/22/16 Came here to watch a lacrosse game. Been here before. Stands are clean. Multiple places to sit. Parking several places around the campus. Close to the field. Went to HS here in the 80's. At that time it was predominantly Caucasian. I was part of the handful of Asian. The HS was very good. Curriculum and teachers challenging. Since the original review, GHS Girls tennis managed a paltry 2-15 varsity season in 2015-16 Pathetic. No high caliber recruit is going to want to play for GHS once they see the abysmal tennis facilities. This follows a league 2nd place finish in 2014-15 when they had a real coach and a great #1 Singles and #1 Doubles team. The boys team did very poorly as well. Evidently, GHS AD has no value for this once respectable program. So sad. Lastly, the courts are in the same sorry shape. Grade F read more

Bad school. If you can put your children in a private school once they start high school please do. My kids who attended this school hated being in class with other kids that were high every day. I also had a meeting with Dr wolf about a concern that I had and he bullied me out of his office. I had to go through GSCD TO GET SOME, but even that was difficult. I also spoke to the office (Mrs hernandez) who said to me what I was complaining about wasn't that big of a deal. STAY AWAY. read more

A faucet in the bathrooms will either not work or won't be able to be closed so the water will fill the sink. Faculty seemed more concerned with departmental drama. I used to teach art here but it was more like babysitting because administration would dump problem kids in my classes. I've caught teens playing PSP during demonstrations and throwing water at each other indoors. The campus is overcrowded. read more

I attended my youngest brother's graduation yesterday and his award ceremony last week here at G.H.S. I hadn't been here since my freshman year, going back brought many memories back not necessarily the ones I would want to keep in mind as I walked i was reminded of were i used to hang out at lunch and snack, the immature fights I had at the gym, the classrooms were I probably had some good teachers but I'll never know since I would rarely be in class, the spots were I used to make out and the locations were I got caught when I should of been in class, I eventually graduated but not from G.H.S. Glendale High is exactly what you make of it, no other way around it. With a school of over 3000 students, there is enough variation in order to make every stereotype that was listed in other reviews false. Sure, if you take a walk around campus during lunch you will superficially see race, but that is only because you can't help but see the obvious first. Glendale High has a plethora of students, from the most studious and academic to the ones that struggle to graduate, you are bound to meet people that you will be able to relate to. Unlike other higher ranking high schools, Glendale High most closely mirrors the real world, with its huge diversity race-wise, academic-wise, and economic-wise. The teachers are a hit or miss. There are horror stories of some teachers who will sit at their desk engrossed in the online stock market and not care one bit about the class before them, other teachers who will rant about their lives and give biased moral lessons, and others who are extremely pompous and spend so much time talking about what amazing teachers they are but never actually show the students their so-called amazing teaching skills. Other teachers are incredible and inspiring, some treat you like college students and give you hours upon hours of homework, others teach you how to write brilliantly and refuse to sugar-coat your grades, and the best never give up on their students. The biggest problem at Glendale High is that teachers give up within a few years at the school from the difficult students they encounter in their classrooms. The sad part is, its the students who suffer the most because these are the classes where the teachers don't spend the full class hour teaching and instead allow the students to socialize, text, or sleep after their short assignment is complete. As a student with big dreams, the mix of good and bad teachers prepared me to pushed myself to be independent academically and learn how to study when no exact outline was given for an upcoming test or essay. Although at times it can be easy to blame the bad teachers for all your problems, it is hardly justifiable because the key to success is within yourself, ghs is the door to success, it just refuses to hold your hand through this door. If you are devoted to your grades, you will make it. Most clubs at ghs are a joke for the most part, many students create them at the beginning of the year to make them official but they quickly stop about a few weeks after round-up, leading to an apathetic student body. Sports and the arts are one of the best ways to get involved as there is actually a faulty member or coach who makes sure that practices are held. Glendale High's drill team is the best in the country, however it requires an enormous commitment on the dancer's part. Football gets the most attention at our school even though they haven't won many games, but almost half of Glendale manages to show up during homecoming, the most spirited week fo ghs. If you are nervous about attending ghs or sending your child here, don't be. Just this year we had two people go on to Ivy League schools, 20 or so go to UCLA, CAL, USC, and so many more go on to other notable universities. So any gossip that you may hear that GHS's API score is falling and will affect college admission to your dream school, don't worry, it simply is not true. The majority of students go on to GCC or PCC if they are simply not ready right out of high school to go to a 4-year university. I'm not going to lie and say my experience at GHS was completely amazing and will be for everyone else as well, but I feel that because I joined cheer, took classes I heard had interesting teachers, and got involved with tutoring kids who needed extra help, I grew to enjoy the time I spent at my high school. I was able to get into ucla, cal, and usc, all admissions I feel were attributed to the education I recieved from wonderful teachers such as Ms. Ozawa, Mr. Kolodinski, Mrs. Sheridan, Mrs. Mkrtchian, Ms. Erikson, Ms. Metcalf, and Mrs. Ciotti. I strongly reccomend these teachers to students who truly want someone who will challenge them and help them grow into better people. read more

I go into the main entrance up to the front desk to request for my transcripts. The lady in the front whose name is "Angela" is on the phone speaking in Armenian about a wedding for 3 min. While I'm standing there waiting for service. She gets off the phone and starts talking to her student helper. By this time 5 min has gone by and I'm thinking to myself where the hell did they find this person from, off the street? SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I was expecting for a smile and a how may I help you? This was a bad experience for me. I came here at 14 after living a troubled childhood and moving around a lot. I needed help. Instead of help, what I got was a lot of really bad attitude from teachers and counselors. I didn't know how to be in school because I had missed years due to an abusive home situation. I was put into a remedial math class where the teacher would just sit and ignore us everyday. They didn't care that needed extra help, they were not willing to give any help at all! It was a situation of abuse, I now realize. I believe this school and other CA public schools should be compensating me now for all the math classes I am now having to take at community college. read more

One person is judging the school by a bad experience from a teacher, another by an experience from the front desk lady, and another by a security. There are over 200 staff members and most are amazing. As an alumni I am proud of what I've become because of GHS. If you choose to hang out with the "bad" kids and mess around then of course it's not the school for you. You can find trouble in any school you go to. But if you really work hard and learn, this can be an amazing school for you. There are so many great clubs, sports, and after school activities to join. Their arts program is also really good. This includes visual arts, music, drama and dance. They have cooking courses, as well as cosmetology and construction academy. GHS is like no other. I attended this school back in '011 and all i got to say it was chill. Yeah kids over there got the most bunkest strains but whatever, i get that straight fire now that i graduated in '014. I had the best short time over here. I remembered my english teacher being soooo boring that my earwax started melting due to the weather in the classroom caused by that said teacher being boring. The education system best trains students to exel and succeed later in life like me who still is unemployed living in a waterbed. Overall nice friendly school read more

I am sorry but i was very disappointed to have to send both of my daughters to this public school..I mean when you have to drop off your kids and see a POLICE car there all the time which a policeman is assigned to that school all the time because of constant fights between Mexicans & Armenians what can you do as a parent but hope and pray that nothing happens to them. My daughters have their own opinions which i am sure they would gladly like to speak for themselves but i did not enjoy hearing all the stories of how there were constant gang fights daily during lunch and how many times their friends were getting jumped and were outnumbered. I hated having to deal with the constant headaches of the campus being over crowded and the classrooms size was more then some of the teachers could handle. Public schools in Glendale changed and i was so sorry to have to take my daughters out of the private schools i had them in due to the high cost of living but it got difficult to ignore so many problems at this high school and my daughters had many friends i just didn't like what i saw as a parent going on in there. read more

It's a nice school for any high school kid to go to the kids learn a lot and there is so much help the students are caring Also it's a fun place to learn and enjoy your education through high quality teachers . I completely agree with the previous review. When a student comes to Ghs, they have a choice to make. They could either decide to hang out with the drug addicts and the delinquents, or they could focus on classes and making their high school experience a great one. You can't judge and entire school on a few staff members or a small group of students. Glendale high is how you make it, either a bad or good experience. There will always be ups and downs at ghs, again, like any other school. But I believe the best thing about ghs is it's well representation of the real world. There are many troubled kids at ghs. People who don't choose the correct path of life and mainly cause trouble. But you can find many of those people outside if school as well. There are some teachers that you will not like at ghs, but in a job, you may have a boss that you just don't like. All in all, I find nothing really wrong with Glendale and it's a great school for a child to learn about life outside of school. read more

Glendale High school is the best school. They show the Nitro spirit and they all treat each other like a family. Everyone there always has a friend and a partner. There is no bullying because we all get along. And yes I do go to Glendale and I think it's the best. I always have fun there and I feel safe. Many people leave in there last year as Seniors but they always want to cdome back. Remember once a Nitro always a Nitro. read more
