Course is usually in great condition but it seems like I am continually disappointed by service. We had a tee time and were paired with another group. We didn't see anyone and asked if we could tee off. We were told no we have to wait for the other 2 and can go putt (we had 10 minutes before our time). Again no issue. This is where I find it disrespectful at the least. The other two walked up to the starter and asked to tee off without us. The starter let them tee off without us 5 minutes before our tee time. When asking why he would do that and push our time further out he told me that it's their first time golfing we wouldn't want to be paired with them. So instead of having us in a group together now I was stuck BEHIND a group of 2 whom never played and fell began to cause a slow down on the course. We were nothing but respectful on course even after being told this but it's bothered me now for a couple days. I wouldn't have posted but historically I seem to have this type of service and respect each time I go there. read more

A group of us played there this week. I received a senior rate and the course tossed in a free drink coupon at the pub. A very nice touch that we all appreciated. The course is in great condition and the greens very fast and challenging. No complaints, that's golf. The rate that day was very good especially compared to nearby courses that are not as nicely groomed. Great job Glen Oaks. read more

First of all, I want to say that all the negative reviews of Glen Oak sound like people are nitpicking. I played here a few years ago for the first time and have been going back to play at least once a year ever since. The golf course is beautiful. Every time I've played there, the course has been lush and the course has been in pristine condition. They always have a beverage cart out and about and there's a halfway house for other snacks and drinks. The golf carts are equipped with big screens that have the course GPS on them. The WNY area is lucky to have a Robert Trent Jones designed golf course to play. It might be a little pricey during the summer season, but well worth it to play there. In my opinion, it's easily a top 10 public golf course in the WNY area. read more

Glen Oak Golf Course - Golf Near Me - East Amherst, New York

Really beautiful course! I went here for the first time recently and had a good experience. It is on the pricier side. Course was well maintained and the golf cart was nice as well. read more

One of the nicest and public courses in the area. Luke and the rest of the staff here are super helpful.

Where to start??? made tee times in advance to save a bit of money, only to find out about "dynamic pricing". so how this works is if they feel like charging "you" more money they can and will and did. The price on line $50 per player went to $61 just because they felt like it. Let's talk about the guy at the pro shop. A complete incompetent, rude and unkind person . A man in charge of customer service with the personality of wet sock. (Good job Mike) keep up the terrible attitude and soon you will be out of a job (one can only hope). Well course was nice, the grounds keepers are doing a great job, Snack shack girl very nice, starter was even very nice, the other younger (taller) guy in the pro-shop nice, Mike - not so much. To start a round with the aggravation in the pro shop was like a kick in the back side. after that experience, your mind is consumed with regret for giving this course your hard earned cash. after the round, we finished around noon (on a Tuesday), so we wanted some food and maybe a beer. Well the restaurant was closed because the bar tender went back to college! What? Really? did they not know she was leaving? Does she alone run the entire food and drink service for the course? I mean is this really how to run a business. One star was a stretch if I could have given zero I would have. So-long Glen Oaks won't be back until.... well, never. also I won't miss it. Their are to many fantastic golf courses in WNY that treat you like a customer and a friend and a repeat customer. Courses that will make you feel welcome and appreciated. Glen Oaks is off the list for me. I'll play Byrncliff, Terry Hills, Batavia CC, Dande Farms, Arrowhead, Hickory stick, Willowbrook, Ivy Ridge and on and on and on. I'll golf at grover or south shore (lol) before I set foot on Glen hoax property again. Glen Hoax is a joke folks! Shot 84 and WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! Peace and love. read more

This place is an absolute dump. 70 dollars for a 6:00 am round in mid June. Cart path only even though it hadn't rained the day before. The whole course was under water. It looks like they ripped out all of the cart paths and just left mud to try to drive through. Used to be one of the nicer public courses in western New York. What a fall from grace. You can find much nicer courses for around half the price. read more

I wish this course wasn't 2 min from my house because I would never play it. Unfortunately the convenience factor brings me back. First there is no potable water on the course. How hard is it to put a few jugs of water out there? The cheapest munis have water on the course. If you're not going to have water on the course have a drink cart girl. I've never seen one in all the times I've played. The one man bathrooms are disgusting. It's like a bathroom in a public park. The halfway house usually is never open until 11ish on the weekends. The club house offers no food or snacks. So if you're an early morning player you better back a lunch with lots of water. The starters are terrible. One round this year they held up the entire tee sheet while a group waited for their fourth to show up. We teed off 15-20 min late. The starter kept saying he had a full sheet until 1pm. Then why hold everything up? This week we were playing with an inexperienced golfer who was very nervous on the first tee. He took two swings and misses and the starter was shouting "he has to pick up". Those two swings took about 15 seconds. The starter came over and told us he had to pick up because he had tee times every 7 minutes and the next group was waiting. I looked back and there was no one anywhere near the first tee. The fact that they still charge $55 is a crime. This place is really resting on it's reputation and has done nothing to improve the course over the past few years. I wish Arrowhead and Glen Oak would switch places. read more

Worst staff, carts, prices, and overall experience I've ever had at a golf course. They treat it like it's the Masters, but it's a typical WNY piece of trash golf course. read more

The guys review below me had me worried for a minute. Was told by family in the area it's a nice course. Played it and had a blast. Cart girl was on the course and little food area was nice. The conditions we're great for as much rain and wind this area has had in the last week or so. Don't listen to anything the guy wrote about this course because it's 99% BS. Go enjoy this course and have fun. I looked at every website for reviews and his nasty review was on them all. Someone was a little bitter in my opinion. This is my first time playing golf in this area. I live in AZ and play 4 to 6 times a week. read more

having golfed here on many occasions expected a little more. It has the feel that this may have been a nice place in 1986. It's in desperate need of updating. The food...terrible. Beer... was flat. read more

Have been playing this course for 15 years and I'm a local golfer. This week the greens are littered with debris. Everyone was complaining. Made a comment to the pro shop that it looked like they had a bad storm today. Got this dazed look from the manager like... what is your complaint? I tried to tell him that most of the front nine had 1000's of Maple tree seeds and twigs covering the greens. "Oh, we had a lot of wind today" he says. The greens looked like they weren't touched all day and the fairways weren't cut. Too bad the course wasn't kept up and the staff didn't give a rats arse when I told them about it. No apologies. No offer to make up for the unpleasant (not enjoyable) golf outing. But they were very happy to take my money. Nothing! I recommend you check carefully before you pony up the greens fees. Nice course. But Glen Oak is consistently criticized for poor customer service experience. That is one thing that has not changed for years. read more

Beware Brides! I got married here last year, and was really disappointed. The facility was beautiful, but if I had to do over again I wouldn't have my reception there. The food was awful. No flavor what-so-ever. The chicken was all bones and cartilage. I couldn't even eat it. The made us cut our cake before dinner, which really ticked me off. All the guests were confused, and it completely messed with the flow of the evening. In my opinion it wasn't worth the cost. Unfortunately we can't do it over again somewhere else. read more

I had one of the worst experiences golfing ever. It started before we even tee'd off. I had a 1:38 tee time, and at 1:25 we watched the starter just send people out one after another while we were at the driving range, we ended up starting after 2. Why even make a tee time? Once on the course play was very slow, almost 3 hours to make the turn. Finally after 30 minutes on hole 10, we called for a ranger at the tee box of hole 11 to find out what was going on. There was 8 people playing together 3 groups ahead of us (the root of the issue the whole time). The ranger split them up but never followed up and they just joined up the next hole. We decided to jump ahead 3 holes to get in front of them, once ahead we moved along great. Upon finishing, we went to the pro shop to discuss options to fix our experience and the man at the counter (who was the one who came out when we called) said he did all he could?? We were offered a 3 hole rain check for the issues we experiences on the course?? Really?? Our entire experience was ruined, not just the 3 holes we lost. We declined stating we would never be back, and all he could say was "sorry". Once I got home I emailed the gm of the course and informed her of our experience, no reply. I am appalled that a course of your caliber could a) allow play like that to occur, b) not rectify the situation once it is presented, and c) not take the steps to make sure the CUSTOMERS left happy. I am a restaurant manager and would never let a customer leave as unhappy as I left today. I am not the guy to complain for free stuff, but would it have killed your employee to give us a 9 or 18 hole rain check?? Anything to get us back to give you another try. Instead he did nothing and we just aren't coming back. I recommend to everyone else do do the same, there are plenty of other nice courses in WNY. read more

Great course. From the review in May the course must have really shaped up well. Played here yesterday and the course was in great condition, all around. The bunkers were in good shape but not raked, so you were forced to rake a small spot for your ball when you landed in it. But no weeds or compacted sand in them. Greens, tee boxes, fairways, all in great shape. I didn't hit range balls though so I am not sure about the condition of them. If I lived up here though, I would definitely play it more often. Fast pace and friendly service. read more
