I was here for the Southbound side of I-95 and it's a perfectly decent rest area with plenty of…read moreparking and some in the shade. Vending machines to one side, bathrooms to the other. Bathrooms were clean. Don't start thinking that you've escaped the DC traffic. There's more to come. It's worth noting the historical marker, since that's also my thing. It reads: The Neabsco Mills Ironworks complex, under the ownership of three generations of the Tayloe family, of Richmond County, operated between 1737 and 1828. Located near this site, it was one of the longest continuously operating ironworks in present-day Northern Virginia. The 5,000-acre iron plantation, which was worked by resident free laborers, indentured servants, and slaves, was a multifaceted operation. The workers produced not only pig and bar iron for sale at home and export to Great Britain, but also engaged in shipbuilding, milling, leatherworking, shoemaking, and farming. The complex was an important supplier of iron for weaponry during the American Revolution and the War of 1812. (Probably used during the Civil War, too.)

This rest stop in Northern Virginia along I-95 could be easy to miss. However, I really needed to…read moreuse the facilities and had my eye out for a blue sign, so I followed all the signs off the highway to the pavilion. It wasn't anything fancy -- just some vending machines and separate bathrooms. No biggie. My only annoyance was how long it took to get there. I don't understand the layout of exiting the highway, remaining next to it for a while, and *then* pulling in. Why couldn't they just let us exit like any normal rest stop? At least merging on was much easier. Toilets were clean. Would work in a pinch.

On my multiple trips back and forth on I-70 I usually bypass this rest stop, it's in a weird area…read more For more than one reason. Recently I had to stop because I needed to do some work related stuff. It also didn't hurt that I needed to use the facilities. Getting off at this rest stop can be a bit tricky. This sits at the top of a crest where three lanes of traffic (used to allow for slower moving big rigs to be on the right) goes down to two. So if you are scurrying along to pass those big rigs, you may miss it or have to cut it close to make the exit to the rest stop. Once on the lot, just follow the signs to where regular cars/trucks/suvs would go. The building on the grounds are what you would expect at a rest stop. They do have some things here that are to entertain or educate you, but they have been directly in the sunlight so much that they are bleached or just plain old destroyed. Facilities are well taken care of and usable. My main purpose here was to do a real quick work thing and then continue on my way. The cell service here is bad. I had LTE at most and did not matter what I was trying to do, just would not work. Totally not their fault, but if it is against the law to text or hold a handheld device while driving, they might want to invest in WiFi or something at these rest stops. Getting back onto the highway is a bit tricky as well. Leaving from the regular vehicle lot you go on what feels like a winding country road. Then you have to rush yourself in hopes that you can make it back on the highway without causing any delays.

I haven't had to use it in a long time. It was clean, but you need to take into consideration what kind of people with medical conditions are going in there. Actually my friend who is not asthmatic also came out coughing from the smell. Hopefully you will cut back on the bleach.

I stayed here while attending a conference in nearby Washington DC. It was fairly close to the law…read moreschool the conference was at. It is generally well located. The staff is uniformly pleasant and professional. I have nothing but positive feelings about all of them. The room cleaning was done every day and it felt like they did a good job. Both the hotel and the rooms are a bit on the older side, which is fine. The rooms are fine. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms have a walk-in shower that worked for me, with shampoo/conditioner/body soap dispensers on the wall. My only real issue has to do with something they need to modernize. Some of the electric outlets on the dresser area were not hooked up. The room is bereft of USB ports for charging. I have several devices that need a USB port for recharging. The room has one. So I could charge my iPhone, my Apple watch, my Apple earbuds, or my iPad. I could not charge more than one of them. That is a little annoying, but it is a small problem for just me. That is a rather simple upgrade that they should make. If I had been with my wife on this trip, the lack of USB ports would have been a huge problem. This place has a "bar" that is open limited hours adjacent to the lobby. There is a breakfast thing in the morning. The bar should be open earlier and stay open later. One of the evenings my groups was there, the World Series was on. We had to go to a place a couple of blocks away because it was not on in the hotel bar, and the hotel bar would have closed before the game ended. We would have rather stayed at the hotel. But we could not. The fact that there is no room service is a bit annoying. I know that is part of this kind of place. But it is an inconvenience. I'd say this place is more of a 3.5. But I'm rounding up because the complaints are small and the place was very good in general.

All of the staff were very helpful, and the breakfast buffet was great. I did also have lunch one day, and the club sandwich was perfection! I love those French fries. As a bonvoy member, I had requested early check in, it wasn't ready as early as I had asked, but I still got in my room at least 2 hours early! Which is just a very nice bonus. My peers and I have enjoyed our stay here several times when we've been in the area visiting clients. It's a very convenient location, with lots of restaurants close by.
