My friends and I had a wonderful experience initially creating the artwork. The employees we encountered were more than helpful and accommodating. We were told by staff that our art work would be ready to pickup within two weeks. They also informed us that one person in our group could return to pick up the art for everyone. I want to note, the owner was not present at that time. However, upon returning to pick up mine and my friend's art , I had an unpleasant experience with the owner. The owner was very hostile and combative towards me. She became angry because our group (4) requested separate tickets at the time of purchase. The interaction continued with the owner as things were very disorganized as she struggled to locate our art pieces. She later refused to allow me to pick up the art for my friends. Despite us being told by staff that it's a common practice for one person to pick up art for people in their group. I was required to show physical proof of others in my group. I felt as though I was singled out in this experience and will not be returning to this location. read more

We scheduled a long cousins weekend just to get together and have fun! Well the weather women was off her meds and it was cold and raining the entire time we were in the area. Looking for inside things to do we came across the Glazed Bisque! We had lot's of fun the owner (Pam) and her assistant we very knowledgeable and fun to talk to, they even shared where the locals get tasty homemade ice cream- The Blue Cow, who would have thought! Went for my wife's birthday with minimal experience, & felt right at home immediately. Great selection of items to choose from at reasonable prices. The owner was fantastic helping us with creating handprint and footprints from our young children. We are excited to try the glass fusing at some point in the near future! read more

My family and I had an amazing time thanks in part to Pams help, and her patience with us! Large variety of things to choose from to paint and then have fired up. Masks were taken seriously even while at tables which was huge for us. Also plenty of room to spread out. A great place to create! Pam, the owner, is knowledgeable, experienced and a great person. She walks you through each step of the creating process and the costs, so no surprises. A good variety of year round items as well as very cute and lovely seasonal choices. Hours are good and prices are fair. Looking forward to continuing to go back again and again. First let me say that the business is apparently under new management within the last year or so. That being said, I have given a two star rating bc I love coming here to paint pottery, and we have thrown several birthday parties here for various children in our family and have all enjoyed them immensely. Friends from work and myself always get together and go to the free paint day the two times they offer it during the year. Went and had a marvelous time as usual, except for a snide comment from an employee (which we learned later was the owner) upon entering when we asked if there was a line being formed. The trouble started when checking out. My daughter had a $30 gift certificate from 2 years ago. There was an area at the bottom where an employee could enter an expiration date. However, no employee had done so. At time of checkout the sweet girl that was checking us out, had to get the store owner in regards to that gift cert. The owner (I believe her name was Pam) was incredibly rude. She said she would not honor my daughters gift certificate bc they expire after a year. I nicely explained that no where did it state that on the certificate so how was I to have known that. She also was very loud at this point and people were staring. She said she would give us $10 credit for it. That upset me and I said no, this was a $30 gift from her grandparents, so you just took their money and will only pay $10? That's not right. She went on to say that the gift certificate had been issued by the previous owner so she didn't have to honor it at all. Where I argued that she did bc she bought the company, earnings and debt, and if she hadn't planned on honoring old gift certificates then she should post that somewhere and also post that they expired in a year if not already noted. By this time she is red and yelling ( I was horribly embarrassed but unrelenting as I felt I was in the right) she said that the state of Virginia says GC are only valid for a year. Which is Bologna by the way, unclaimed property, including gift cards are valid 5 years before becoming void as unclaimed. She also kept yelling that I had "admitted" the gift was from her grandma two years ago. Well I wasn't trying to hide that, but nowhere on it or in the store stated that they expired in a year. Anyway, her husband finally came out and actually had to take her outside. This was easily hands down the worst customer service I have received from anywhere and easily the most embarrassing. I did however get the gift card honored. I was so scared that when pick up day arrived for the pottery that it would be damaged, but she was not there when I came to pick up, and our pottery was magnificent as usual. I hate that the place has such a crappy owner, as it is a wonderful place to go. I've always enjoyed it. When I picked up my pottery yesterday, I noticed they had new pottery options available to paint. However, nothing could induce me to go back in there again.. read more

So I go back today to pick up missing piece and evidently it is still missing a week later. I was requested to provide my contact information and the owner would mail the piece to me. I asked where the piece was and clerk stated they did not know. I then got to explain to my nine year old that hopefully her piece will show up soon. Week 3 and I still do not have my daughter's craft. No package or phone call from store owner. Two additional weeks and I have heard and received nothing. read more

I went here with a friend. The pricing to paint was reasonable and totally fair but I was disappointed in the availability of practical pieces. I'm always looking outside of mugs but wanting to keep my price lower. Though it was enjoyable I didn't feel like it encouraged the spirit of exploration and artistry like I'd hoped. We were limited to a five color palette and not allowed to use any water or anything. I've previously done glazed "water colors" and I was disappointed to not be able to explore in that way. I recommend it as a combination shopping, destressor, hanging out time and you can control your cost by picking your piece but I found the spirit of creativity lacking. read more

My mom and I spent an afternoon painting pottery together and had a great time. The place is very nice and the owner was the NICEST woman. The only drawback was we weren't allowed to have the paint at our table so we had to keep asking for me. A little pricey, but well worth it. Can't wait to pick them up and see how they look. Unprofessional. I've attempted to contact this business on a number of occassions only to get a "can I call you back?" Yet days go by without a response. Additionally, depending on who you talk with you will get different prices regarding certain items. It's a little disheartening when you get a price from one employee only to be told weeks later (due to the communication issue above) that they will no longer honor the original offer. Additionally I personally know others who have placed orders or created something and given a date when it would be completed, only to be turnt away upon arrival. The only thing going for this place is they understand they are the only business in the area who does this kind of work - and they know it! If possible, I would go elsewhere for this type of service or talk with someone who does this on their own. read more

This review is actually for the SML location. I went yesterday with my Mother-in-law and brought my baby to make some cute keepsakes for Daddy's first Father's Day using her hand and feet prints. They had a nice selection of items to choose from but I was a bit disappointed in the help I received. I explained the designs I wanted and showed the woman working examples on my phone but when she went to help me take footprints or handprints they were not properly placed on the pieces. I paid $70 for three items that had great potential but just weren't executed properly. Also the SML location could use more stencils to help those of us that aren't so crafty. read more

Tell me why we are at Glazed Bisque-It and they closed as soon as we pulled up! It was 7:30 pm and they are not scheduled to close until 9pm. My three children ages 10, 6 and 4 were very excited to go. The young lady working was at the front when we pulled up. Then when we got out she locked the door and she went to the back to HIDE! My 4 year old son kept pulling at the door Adkin "Daddy why can't we go in, you said they were open?" I knocked on the door and she said, "We are closing early" with no explanation! This is terrible customer service. I posted a review on facebook and the owner contacted me. She did not take responsibility for the actions of her employee. She said it was her employees fault not hers as the owner. She also stated that I had no right and was wrong for posting. She stated as a business owner I was wrong for posting a bad review. To conclude she told me via telephone that she didn't care about me! I have no words for the treatment we received. The owner also stated in a response that there is a sign that says they close at 8 pm if no one is there which is irrelevant because we were there at 7:30. Obviously by the picture that was taken that day there is no other sign! Why do you think they closed early with 5 customers walking into the door. We will not be back! read more

My niece and I visited this shop earlier this week to have an afternoon together painting pottery. The painting was fun, but the end result was pretty pricey. The little girl who helped us while we were there was very kind, however the owner made us kind of uncomfortable. While we were there she was talking audibly to another customer about personal problems, and later began to gossip about another business in the area. Like I said, the painting was fun and I was glad for the time with my niece, however I didn't appreciate the low level of professionalism. My sister and I work hard to encourage our children against gossiping and it's hard to do that when they are exposed to adults who are doing just that. read more

Very nice place. Went in 20 minutes before closing and felt very badly about it but the young woman, Dana, was super nice, friendly and helpful, took her time to work with us. Place looks really nice, neat, and it's very fun to work on your little craft even for those like me who are not very artistic or talented. There are toys as well so my two little ones were entertained while I was finishing up. We had a very nice experience. Great for gift ideas or just to do something different, fun. read more

A favorite lazy afternoon for our family. My children are always asking to return and paint another masterpiece as soon as we leave. Large selection of bisque products for painting. Staff is great to work with and offer techniques and advice to improve your piece. Only downside is that it can become quite expensive very fast. read more
