'Glasgow Summer Sessions'........Kings Of Leon......where do i begin!...the venue/location itself ....well i think if i were hosting some of the greatest acts currently on the planet,i would have done some structural homework to consider the audiences attending, for example and obviously if it were me delegating stage layout and PA requirements and appreciating the local residents....i would have thought that the previous World Pipe Band Championships(many years ago before Glasgow Green)in the park, would have been a more ample location with space being provided hence ability to sustain capacity crowds,a streamline flow of sound and a safer and spacious environment ...........for example i was a bit concerned how long it took security and services in locating aspects requiring attention,as for stage layout.......i,m sure the acts were satisfied with the monitor set up on stage but as for the crowd we had to settle for one stack of the PA speakers and to hear them clearly you had to battle your way down front by the sound desk rack(far too close to the stage?) to receive any form of clarity, although the sound was still pretty low as i'm sure this was due to acquiring the satisfactory decibel levels as the event was positioned so close to the adjoining residential high rise flats, although by the looks of things the residents were having a great time and i'm sure i heard shouting for it to be turned up a little....lol,the right side end of the PA speakers were totally angled away to accommodate a faction of the crowd at the side of the stage!.......in these ironic settings a 3 speaker stacks could have been accessed!(poor sound management if i may say).........i also thought that organizers of licensed open air events should accommodate more provision in the toileting aspect as an hour and twenty min to access one may be a bit long to wait........crowd behavior was good on this one, only a few scuffles and this was with individuals reluctant to go when being ushered out by security after having goodness knows how to many one to manies......i actually considered how certain individuals got in the first place!
As for the Band.........Kings Of Leon......Awwwwwwsome mby, i'm bias but i can't comprehend how the initial critics didn't realize they were standing in the presence of such a talented and future iconic band,it was the bands raw grass root talent in their earlier albums which drew me to them, i think as for them being a family oriented combination is what probably typecast them as just being a bedroom band in the eyes of the critics.....some of these probably don't know how to spell instttrument, let alone play one!......Anyways its been a long time since i've witnessed an act performing live and emulating their studio sound to perfection+......Nathan Followill(Drums) also added improvisation of his drumming to certain tracks which tastefully enhanced the arrangements(made my night)........the bands set was incredible covering their musical path in such a short time(another 10yr!bring it on), words cannot express the delivery to the music and light visuals conveyed on the night!...the Glasgow skyline has never looked so beautiful! This event would have been the icing to my'bucket list',but even though i witnessed a great band in my hometown(well good enough 4me)INDOORS for this caliber is a MUST!!!!! ......4me anyways, in obtaining that'band in your living room effect'!!must be getting on a bit....lol read more
