Glasgow Bridge (locally known as Jamaica Bridge) connects Jamaica St with the Gorbals.
There's been a bridge there since 1772 - the current version having been completed in 1899. This is now classified as a category B listed building - due both to its 7 arch design, and the fact that it was the first of Glasgows bridges to have electricity! Apart from that, it's just a solid old bridge.
This bridge is now one way to cars, heading southside - if you look down left onto the Clydeside when you're going over it, you'll see a big screamy woman statue called La Passionara.
You get a nice view both ways along the river from this bridge - is a good photo opp place when the weather's good too.
Only giving this 4 stars as there's plenty of bridges nearby that I find architecturally more interesting. read more
