I had been searching for a good, local beauty salon and hairdresser after I had one of the worst experiences ever at another (look at previous review). I searched google and Insignia Hair & Day Spa had a few 4-5 star google reviews. I booked a massage and facial for my sister and I and we both went in not knowing what to expect. It is a little obscure to find (on the top level of a small business lot in the back of Penrith) but once you're up those stairs, it is incredibly deceptive! Behind the counter are countless awards and trophies - all well deserved and earned I believe now. The receptionist is lovely and always smiling. The salon is broken up into two areas; on the left a beautiful well-lit open space hair salon, to the right, a relaxing and dimly lit series of hallways and a serene waiting area for the massage and treatment areas. My massage was incredibly relaxing and my therapist was lovely, my face felt like a million bucks after the facial. My sister had the same thoughts. A few days later I booked in for my brows and a haircut (I love how you can get everything done here!). I have never had such a great haircut and brow job. I was incredibly relaxed and accommodated the whole time. The scalp massage I received while getting my hair washed was the best scalp massage I've ever gotten, ever. And the chairs that you relax in are the most plush, comfortable chairs I've ever experienced at a sink. My hairdresser Jessica was truly awesome and understood my needs completely. Her professionalism and passion for the job made me feel at ease and confident in her abilities - she truly loves her job and loves working for the salon! I will definitely be back for ALL my hair and beauty needs and I will be telling everyone about this place. It really is a gem in the middle of a sea of mediocre and dodgy places in Penrith.

Great service, great stylists, great prices!…read more For many years now I have had the gift of fertility.......every time i find a great hairdresser they get pregnant and stop working to raise their kids. Although this had ended happily for many a maternal hairdresser, it has not bode well for my hair. A couple weeks back, yet again in search of a new hairdresser I happened along Hair Esteem, and decided to try my luck with another local mob. As soon as i arrived i knew that the salon must have something going for it, as it was huge yet full to overflowing with clients and staff. I was greeted by the woman who turned out to be my hairdresser, and funnily enough she was heavily pregnant, so i sat down with utter confidence that she would do a great job, and i wasn't disappointed. Not only did she ask me to show her what I meant by the colours i was naming, she went on to talk with me about how strategically placing contrast and complimentary colours in the under layers of your hair effects the overall appearance. An educated and articulate stylist who delivered exactly what she promised and then some! After being pampered with coffees and an awesome head massage during my visit, i got to walk away with Salon Perfect hair that was exactly as i had imagined it. Two weeks on the colour still looks great so i am really happy with it. Best of all, turns out the hairdresser i had owns the business so she wont be leaving it any time soon! I cant vouch for the other hairdressers, but if they are even half as good as the hairdresser i had then i would rate them good value for money. I will certainly be going back to Esteem!

I was 10 minutes late to the appointment, I apologized and said not to worry about my blow dry to make up for the time. She roughly shampooed and cut my hair, didn't bother making sure the front and back are even, so now I will be looking to get it fixed by a different salon despite paying $85 for a simple cut. She couldn't even be bothered showing me the back length, just took the towel off and walked away once she was done. The only positive was that she quickly dried off my hair when I asked instead of towel drying it, which tbh is pretty basic to do. The 'senior stylist' just seem to be annoyed the whole time I was there, like I had interrupted her day by making an appointment, there is little to no customer service. If you're looking for a new salon to try, I would avoid this place as it is completely overpriced, terrible at customer service, doesn't seem like the hairdressers have good experience and they clearly do not want new customers.

Fantastic results at terrific prices!…read more Having recently found an awesome hairdresser, i was disappointed to find myself on the hunt yet again, as they don't open Sundays. Luckily i happened upon a very talented hairdresser at Hairlink in Penrith Westfield. Armed with a myriad of photos i explained that I was wanting to go from blonde to red, and to my delight i was met with a wave of excitement and passion rarely seen. I hoped her talent would match her enthusiasm and it did! Colour done and expertly dusted, we moved onto the trim, and finally i got exactly what i asked for; someone to 'hack' into my way too thick hair and dramatically reduce the volume. If this review was solely on the talents of the hairdresser it would be a 5, but alas my overall experience was a little less than perfect. While having my colour washed out I was exposed to the very strong opinion of mine and two other hairdressers about how 'gross and disgusting' it is when 45 year old women date, and how remarkable it is that really old people (40 and above apparently) even think about stuff like that. While I found it highly amusing listening to a group of under 25's condemn the future of we 'old women' I was unimpressed that they talked loudly and openly on this topic for at least 5 minutes and the business manager made no attempt to redirect them. Despite not having any real common ground with the staff (always good when you are going to be there for 2 - 3 hour stints) I would highly recommend Hairlink for colour or cut, or both......and the best bit, the whole thing cost under $100 - excellent value!

Equal Image Salon is now my go to hair dresser. Family owned business they are friendly and actually know what they are doing. I was served by Ashley the other day ( Who is currently in the top 6 for Apprentice of the year awards) and loved it. She was absolutely lovely not to mention did an excellent job on my hair. Previously, I had my hair cut by her Father, Paul. Embarrassingly I was a bit apprehensive about a male cutting my hair but he gave me the best cut I had ever had and straight away regret my quick judgement. No longer will I have to say "Oh that looks good" without meaning it . I love this salon and would recommend it to anyone and everyone !
