I originally left a 5 star review here years ago because the quality of the work was solid and…read moreeverything was handled in house. That is exactly why this update is so disappointing. My recent experiences have been the complete opposite of what I once respected about this business. After returning back to Florida, permanently this time .... with a bag full of dresses that needed to be dry cleaned I was required to prepay due to an incident from over five years ago when I unintentionally forgot to pick up clothing before my return back to CA. . I understand policies around unclaimed items and take responsibility for that. What I do not accept is the way this was handled. From that point forward, the treatment I received was consistently cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. I brought my clothes in multiple times after that, and every single visit carried the same unmistakable sense that I was not welcome. There was no effort to reset the relationship, no basic courtesy, and no professionalism in how a returning customer was treated. This was not a one time interaction. It was repeated behavior over multiple visits. People do forget items at cleaners. It happens. Most businesses address it, set their policy, and move on. Here, it felt punitive and personal, which is not how a professional business should operate. I paid in advance as required, complied with their (NEW) policy that they set JUST for me... , and returned in good faith more than once. The response and demeanor I received each time was the same level of cold and unwelcoming treatment. That is not acceptable in any service environment, and it is THUS the reason I will not return.

The quality of his work was outstanding. The pants were hemmed perfectly, completed quickly, and looked fantastic. Eric is clearly a talented and highly skilled tailor who takes pride in his craft. Hard to find someone great, affordable, and available. After moving from Sanford to Mt. Dora, where I grew up, I needed a tux jacket altered. When I got the jacket back, I was extremely pleased with the work (as good or better than Brooks Brothers has done for me in the past), and the price was so low ($5 for both sleeves) that I insisted on paying more. Yes, Cordella works out of her house, but she has a thriving clientele -- all the old-time locals around here know and trust her to make and/or alter anything. Give her a call. You won't be sorry.

I have spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars on Alterations with Cecilia. My…read morebackground is fashion design. I know a talented seamstress when I meet one. Cecilia is phenomenal at reworking the lines of a garment. Those who complained were either not clear with her or had expectations of looking like a fashion model after they received their altered garments back. It doesn't work that way. Cecilia is able to tailor well-made garments so that they fit even better and look like they are custom-made. If a cheap item is brought to her you're going to get a cheap item back. The only thing she can do is work with the lines of the fashion, not the fabric that you're bringing to her. Have realistic expectations and invest in good clothing. If you do that and you use an excellent seamstress like Cecilia, your clothing will look like it was made for you. She can't make a silk purse from a sows ear, so don't expect her to. People need to be fair and realistic and plan expectations properly. Don't blame the seamstress for cheap clothing. Trust this woman with your garments. But invest in good clothing to prevent disappointment. Cecilia is highly, highly recommended by this customer who has a background in the fashion world.
