Has no suitable changing area for female hockey players attending coed events/rentals. Earlier…read moretoday I attended a private drop in with a group of mostly men and a few other women. The other women in the group don't mind changing with the men but I prefer not to, so I requested a separate room (women's changing room, referee room, etc). The woman at the counter, who was less than pleasant, said she "couldn't let" me use a ref room or any other locker room in any of their FOUR rinks. She offered me a place to change with no skate mats, in the furthest rink (1) from the one we were playing on (4). This is totally unacceptable in 2025! I play in many different arenas around Detroit and Toledo, several in much less affluent cities than Troy, and they all provide me with some place to change that can accommodate my skates and is not a public restroom.

There are many reasons to like this facility, namely the large locker rooms, quality ice surfaces, and the pro-shop located in the lobby. The pro-shop is a separate business, but they have all of your equipment needs and can do a good job on your skate sharpening and repairs. There is a snack shop and plenty of vending machines, but there is no bar or alcohol sales. This rink has the full compliment of learn-to-skate, open-skate, youth hockey at all levels and mens' league. I didn't rate this 5 stars because the building is outdated and is missing a few of the modern touches of a true multi-plex. It's still a great place to play, practice or watch hockey.

The lockers cost $.50 and they have a change machine so you don't have to dig & scrape to find two quarters. There is an arcade area with a decent amount of games. The bathrooms weren't half bad. I went for a private party so I'm not sure about music and crowd but overall I liked the venue.

Very Disappointed -- $10 Just to Watch Your Child Skate…read more I've been bringing my toung teenager to Skate World in Troy on and off for probably 10 years, and today's experience was extremely disappointing. I dropped my my teenager and her friend off to skate. Later, with about two hours remaining before skating ended at 5:00 p.m., I wanted to go inside and watch them. I was told I would have to pay $10 just to enter and sit down, even though I wasn't skating. I understand charging admission when a facility is packed and space is limited. But today the rink was half-empty. On top of that, this is an outdated facility that, in my opinion, has seen very little noticeable update's over the many years Iwe've been coming here. What makes the policy even harder to understand is that I likely would have spent more than $10 inside buying food, drinks, arcade games, etc. Instead, the policy discouraged me from even coming inside. I spoke with the manager on duty, who was very polite and professional. I explained my concern, and she told me that customers have complained about this policy before and that she has brought those complaints to the owner. According to what she told me, the owner's position has essentially been that "customers will have to deal with it" That is particularly disappointing. Customers do have choices. Charging a parent $10 simply to come inside and watch their child skate--especially when the facility is nowhere near capacity--doesn't make me feel that my family's business is valued. After years of coming here, we'll be looking at other skating rinks in the area that are better maintained and where we feel our business is appreciated. Very disappointing experience.
