We stopped by Glacier Distilling Company while we were in the area and had a fun (and tasty!) experience. They have a nice little tasting room and outdoor seating as well. You can purchase a tasting flight to decide on what bottle you'd like to bring home. They also have specialty cocktails if you'd like to enjoy a cocktail in house. We opted for the tasting flight and got a variety of their whiskeys to try. We ended up loving their Logan Pass American single malt whiskey and happily purchased a bottle to take back to our airbnb. If I never made it into the park, if I only ever stopped just short of it and went to Glacier Distilling instead, I would consider it a triumph of a trip! The service?! Warm, engaging, impeccable. Helpful especially to those of us who were attending for the first time ever! They have SO MANY OPTIONS and it's not at all overwhelming as well as everything be stellar. I didn't try anything I didn't like and I'm rather picky when it comes to spirits. And that Caesar?! My god, it IS something to write home about. Don't get it with the vodka, you need that spicy whiskey in your drink. We stopped by here on our way out of Glacier NP and ordered a flight to share. We were welcomed in as soon as we stepped inside and handed a menu. They have a wide selection of things, mostly made with local ingredients. We got to try several different things in the flight and they were all delicious and unique. They have bottles of everything for you to take home so we bought a bottle of huckleberry liquor since we can't get that where we live. The inside was also decorated very nicely and was very clean. The waitress brought us ice water and some pretzels to have along with our drinks as well. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area and want a drink or to buy some local/unique alcohol! read more

Arriving from Grand Teton NP after a nine hour drive, we needed to stretch our legs. What a happy surprise to find a distillery 0.2 miles from our place for the night. Very helpful staff, pleasant atmosphere sitting outside. Even a parade of wild turkeys. Tried several of the beverages. The bourbon was good, not exceptional, but a solid drink. The single malts were comparable to a particular brand from Colorado. Quite good. The agave liquor was excellent. Purchased a bottle to go. What a fun stop right outside of West Glacier! A few tables inside, but a bigger outdoor patio outside to enjoy the beautiful weather! We tried both a tasting flight and a cocktail! My uncle and I stopped by Glacier Distilling Company near closing time, and they were incredibly welcoming. We each tried a whiskey flight, and although it was late, they let us know we could stay a bit longer if we wanted (though we didn't end up needing to). The staff was laid-back, friendly, and really knowledgeable about their spirits. The ambience is really cool in this place. Great decor and huge windows into the distilling process. The selection here is impressive--they have a huge variety of spirits and brown juice, so there's something for everyone. My uncle loved the cask-strength bourbon so much that he bought a bottle to take home, and it was definitely worth it. I didn't love every whiskey I tried, that was more about my personal taste. I tend to stick with the classics like bourbon and rye, which they had plenty of, and the quality was solid. Some of their more experimental offerings weren't quite my style, but it's clear they put a lot of care into creating unique flavors. If you're up for trying something different, I think you'll find it worth the visit. Overall, a great spot for whiskey lovers and adventurous tasters alike! read more

One of my favorite spots while in Montana! We were staying within walking distance so we made our way over after a day of driving. We sat outside on the porch which was lovely. They have flights of the spirits and drinks. Each of us got one of each (there is a 2oz limit because of Montana law). It was great to be able to try the spirits before ordering a drink. I got all whiskey/bourbon ones and they were all good. I ended up getting a few airplane bottles to go. For my bigger drink I got an old fashioned and it was delish. My friends' drinks were good too. There's no food here and last call is pretty early. They have a great little shop inside. Servers were friendly and really helpful when choosing our flights. We loved coming here! We stumbled upon this while driving back from Glacier and we had a great time. My wife got a cocktail and I got a few flights so that we could try a variety of their spirits. We really liked the huckleberry whiskey as well as the huckleberry liqueur and flathead cherry liqueur and we snagged a few bottles to bring home. We really liked that they had multiple sizes of the spirits too so we were able to buy a few different ones rather than just one big one (things to think about when you're flying home!). This distillery is a run out of a cute red barn with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat at the outdoor bar stools. They had fans going which was welcomed on the 90 degree day we visited. The servers were all welcoming and ready to answer all your questions. You can order flight of 4 samples off a menu with over 30 selections of whiskey, Montana specialties, vodka, gin, rum, agave, brandy and liquor. They provide you pretzels and water to snack on while sampling. Inside you can see the large distilling room through a glass window, which if you sit inside is your view while tasting. A flight was $6, and they allow 1 flight per person. The small restaurant next door starts servicing cocktails at 5 using their liquor. They also have a small menu of food as well which the staff raves about, but we didn't personally try. read more

I found out about the tastings here from my visit to Josephine's Speakeasy next door. You can actually park at the lot of Josephine's and just walk down the walkway to Glacier Distilling Company. They only allow 2 flights total so make sure you order exactly what you want. Each flight is 4 tastings of 0.25oz pours. I only ordered one flight ($5) and got the mount brown single malt whiskey, two med whiskey, trapline rock & rye whiskey, and huckleberry gin. For the mount brown single malt, it has the slight smokiness that I'd expect from a scotch and is really good. For the two med, it's a very unique whiskey that I've never had before. The description says it's hoppy and I can taste it. It's a taste that I associate more to beers but it works for this whiskey. For the trapline rock & rye, it's slightly spicy but on the sweeter side. It's very smooth and easy to go down and can really be sipped on its own neat or on the rocks. For the huckleberry gin, it's sweeter and is a lighter proof gin but the added flavor of the huckleberry is nice. The botanicals come out of the spirit. Out of the four that I tried my favorite was definitely the trapline rock & rye followed by the mount brown single malt. They give free pretzels to snack on while you sip on the tastings too. read more

This place was kind of weird. It was May 1st and not many people were there. When we came in the staff was SO nice in explaining that they only do tastings, and they don't serve food (they serve hard pretzels in a cup that comes with the tasting). Which was confusing because on their website there's a section tabbed EAT with food. And we really wanted to sit and eat and taste. But the staff informed me that you eat at a place called "Josephine's" which didn't open until Mother's Day. I don't know, kinda weird set up. The pours are small (thank god) because everything is kinda strong. We didn't stay long because they started getting really busy and I think our server was in the weeds because we never heard from her again. We tried their honey bourbon which was DELICIOUS and we purchased two airplane bottles of it. I think we would have had a better time if we could have eaten. So in conclusion: DONT VISIT BEFORE MOTHERS DAY. read more

I ve visited this establishment about 5x over the past few years (I m local) and this most recent visit totally turned me off from visiting in the future. There was good and bad here: This place was cute, has a great patio, and was right near Glacier National Park. It was nice to stop in for a drink as a reward for a successful day's hiking. On the other hand, we did a couple of tasting flights and their spirits were just meh. There was a lot of gimmicky stuff with local huckleberries and cherries in it, that was mostly gross. (If you have spent any time in Montana, you are probably sick of having huckleberry-everything thrust at you at every turn - they are like the Vegemite of MT - people keep saying you should try them, local delicacy, etc., but they Do. Not. Taste. Good. Not in shakes, not in pies, not in salad dressing, and certainly not in bourbon.). I can see drinking their Fireweed cherry brandy in a coke and having that be good, so I bought a minibar sized bottle of that to take with me, but I am a bourbon & whiskey girl, and what they had on offer there was blah. Their whiskies were clearly very young and not interesting at all. This place is all about location, not about good booze. read more
