I wasn't happy with the way my dog was groomed. I gave the girl very specific instructions but when we came to pick up my dog, a young man said he was the one that groomed her. I guess that's why our special instructions weren't followed. My poor dog was traumatized by how short her hair was cut and it took her two weeks to start acting normal again. I dropped off a Labradoodle and picked up a whippet in the middle of winter after I said I didn't want my dog shaved. I am well versed in corded dogs. Poodles are often corded. I was aware that my doodle had quite a bit of matting. I was prepared to cord him over a few weeks, but I wanted to see if he might brush out. I brought him in and said maybe if it's really bad we can trim him like a schnauzer...I received a call asking to shave him if need be and I said, " it is supposed to snow, please don't shave him". I was so upset when I saw him. He's even knicked to the skin in several places. It's only hair and it will grow back but it's so cold outside, when I brought him home he wouldn't stay out long enough to potty so he pottied inside my house. He's never done that. To add insult to injury, she left him with a shaved head and a fluffy tail. He looks absurd. Who shaves a dog to his skin. She looked at me like I was a terrible dog owner because she shaved most of his coat in one piece. It was like she thought she was doing my dog a favor(as if he were a rescue from the street in trouble). The nerve. I could have corded him without a problem. My poor dog is freezing. I have to find him a coat in the morning. I made a sarcastic remark about bringing my kommondor in and teaching the group how to cord, but quite frankly, that's not gonna happen. I'm mortified, my dog is freezing, and this groomer doesn't listen to the owner. Oh, she also had a handful of hair she raised up at me and stated, "This was from his balls." Who does that? She kept using the word balls over and over like it was the proper terminology - yuck. Just yuck. I will drive to Salt Lake next time - or do my own dog... she followed me out to my truck, saying she wanted an after photo, but it felt like she was looking to cover her buttor start something. I paid the bill, and out of habit, I tipped her. I was literally in shock. In hindsight, I should have refused or left no tip at all. A man passed us by on the way to our truck, he was.laughing it was so bad. Give your dog a chance by not taking a chance here. read more

What a really great owner-operated, local business! The ladies that run this specialty food store are SO knowledgeable about pet nutrition and are always so great to take the time to find the best food-fit for your pet. They sell top quality foods and products that you won't find in other places like petco or petsmart. They also have the sweetest grooming staff- Laura is my favorite! She always does exactly what I ask and my guy is always happy and relaxed when I pick him up AND it doesn't cost me a fortune. I also appreciate how much this business does for the local community and rescue efforts, donating hundreds of bags of food and pet supplies to the food pantry and homeless pets every year! Vernal doesn't have much yelp activity but since this place is so wonderful, I figured I had to review! I have a 1.5 yr old 100 lb great dane that is treated so well here whether it's healthy and honest food selections, grooming, or kennel services. She is so loving but still a puppy and can be intimidating. The people that work here are completely unfazed by her size and have taken such good care while I am out of town with work. They leave me notes every other day in my bag when I pick her up so I know how she did through her stay. They take the dogs on walks every morning; this fact alone makes this place a great place to kennel your pup if you are anything like me and hate the idea of them being locked up for days. Strict on vaccinations and very clean. I always have them groom her while she is there and they do a great job with a massive dog that hates water. All in all Give a Dog a Choice loves the animals as much as the families that put them in their care. I hate to praise because they only have 6 kennels and they might fill up fast but this is such a great local business I can't help it. read more

They did a great job with my Rottie. They let us bring in a slow feeder bowl and a bed for her so she'd feel at home. She was there for a full week, and seemed well adjusted and happy when we picked her up. Prior to this, I dropped by unexpectedly and asked to see the facilities. They gladly showed me the kennel area. It was clean and did not smell. The dogs were happy and resting comfortably in their generously sized pens. I will be giving my business to them again and recommend them. read more
