At the moment you don't need to make an appointment although its probably a good idea if you want to be sure of getting the treatment or stylist that you want. Choose from spray tans, facials, waxing, dermalogica, colouring, lashes, maicures and pedicures. They have a few well known brand beauty products. Remember those Girls World doll heads that you could apply make-up to and change the hairstyles? (I cut all the hair off mine thinking it would grow back when I was about 4. Gutted.) Well that's what I think of when I see this place. Anywhere, it's a fresh, bright new beauty spa which has opened on Allerton Road. They have a great range of treatments availiable; waxing, tanning, lash tinting pedicures, manicures etc. and don't currently do massages but are in the process of setting up massage treatments. They have late night openings on Thursdays and Fridays til 7 if you don't have time in the day to beautify yourself, then you can call in for an evening pamper sesh! read more

I purchased a voucher through a website called Groupon, for a wash, colour for any length of hair, restyle and finish costing £29.00 on 6 December 2010. I booked an appointment that same day for 17 December 2010 at 9.30am and discussed with one of the hairdresser's about having a red semi permanent full colour, which she said would be fine. I was informed to ring up with the redemption voucher code, once I received it from Groupon. I tried on numerous occasions to contact Girls World, but it was permanently engaged. Eventually I got through on 15 December 2010 and was informed by the receptionist they would not honour the offer because it was only for half highlights not a full colour; she said Groupon had made a mistake on the advert. I was shocked and upset by the blahzay attitude of the receptionist. I contacted Groupon and they did give me a full refund. I rang back Girls World and spoke to Holly the owner to get a full explanation and whose customer service is somewhat less then desirable. She angrily said, "What do you want me to do about it." She then accused me of calling her 'a liar,' because she said I did not have an appointment booked in anyway, I disputed this. I then questioned her lack of customer service and she then informed me she did not want my custom and then proceeded to put the phone down on me. This would have been my first experience at Girls World had they honoured the voucher. But after an appalling exchange with the owner I would never want to go there for any hair or beauty treatments in the future. If this is how she speaks and treats customers I don't think her salon will be open for very long with such a competitive market in difficult times!!!! read more

bought a groupon voucher as a surprise for my daughter WELL yes she got a surprise when she got there the stylist started swearing saying she isnt making a profit on these b----dy vouchers - so why sign up for them? My daughter was then told her hair was TOO blonde for highlites.She felt very uncomfortable with the service and attitude of the staff and came away withjust a basic cut & blow we could have got anywhere. Customer service? Non - existent. I had a Groupon voucher for half head of l'oreal colour. I was told I could not have lowlights alternated with highlights as this was not in voucher. I was then given actually 14 foils, nowhere near half a head. The girl who did the highlights was pleasant enough. However, when having my hair washed I was taken aback with the snotty attitude of the girl doing this. Unfortunately this continued with the stylist. I was told i would need a huge amount cutting off my hair to make it look better. When I was adamant I only wanted 2 inches off the stylist continued with her rude attitude. This was then topped off with the stylist and another worker talking over my head about how bad the condition of my hair was and what a shame it was to have hair like that! As the staff were eager to go home 2 of them dried my hair very quickly 1 on each side! One of them commenting to the other that they thought that when the Groupon vouchers were all done they should have a party to celebrate! How rude! If they didnt wish to have the custom they shouldnt have offered the service. I would never return to this salon and I would never recommend to anyone else. read more

Had paid for a Groupon voucher which stated "£29 instead of £105 for a Wash, Cut, L'OREAL COLOUR, Finish and Massage Plus Kerastase Ritual Repair Masque at Girls World - Save 72%". The confirmation email said the same, I booked myself in, but then got a voucher that then stated 1/2 head highlights instead of a colour.Didnt think much of it.... but when I went to the appointment they refused to give me a full head of just semi permanent colour (which is normally cheaper anyway) would only give foils, saying the mix up was Groupons fault. The receptionist was incredibly rude and insensitive- and had one of the worst attitudes I have ever encountered. One example- When I was asking "well what am I meant to do I don't want highlights and I ordered it based on just having a colour" (in a completely non-aggro way) they were completely unhelpful and made me feel like i was somehow in the wrong! I asked what it would cost to get what I originally ordered and they said £60, for a semi-permanent rise- come on!!! she said for me to "hurry up and make a decision as you already 10 minutes into the appointment and we need to ring up someone on the cancellation list to fill your spot" Because they were so busy because of the Groupon! I was the only one in the hairdressers! and there were 3 of them staring me down behind the counter! I didnt say anything about leaving but it was like they were trying to force me out or call my bluff or something. Plus they said that they had similar problems with other customers who had wanted the colour as stated and they ended up either paying the £60, walking out or just getting the haircut! Receptionist was already lifting the phone and staring me down and made me feel like I was not welcome there at all. I ended up out of desperation because I needed my hair cut then and had booked the morning off work, to just get the hair cut. The hairdresser did a nice job and she wasn't horrible to me but I was shaken by the nastyness of before when all 3 of them were behind the counter. I would not go again...ever. There is 1 hairdresser and 3 girls standing around. It is not conductive to a relaxed atmosphere. They do not understand the concept of customer service at all. The hairdresser herself was quite nice but by then the damage was done. If groupon was used a marketing tool it has seriously backfired as they were quite open about the number of dissatisfied women that they had!!! read more

First impressions of girls world, portray a high class salon with premium products and i was expecting a premium service but sadly it was far from it! The staff are lacking in customer service and quite simply don't belong in the surroundings. It was hard to tell who the staff were as they don't wear uniforms, one even had on a school uniform. The staff talk amongst themselves as if they are with friends!The manager is very condecending and spent half the time I was there on her mobile phone, i have never been in a salon where the staff leave customers to talk on their mobile phones. She then spent the other half lecturing me on the perils of me using home box colouring kits! On the plus side my hair is in better condition but i imagine this is because i didn't recieve the highlights! read more

The worst hairdressing experience I have ever encountered. Bought Groupon voucher just before Christmas rang to book an appointment and they managed to squeeze me in on a Thursday evening as they had no other appointments until the New Year. I rang in the afternoon as I hadn't been able to print off my voucher for technical reasons so I checked it wouldn't be a problem and they said fine they just needed my codes which I read to them. All sorted. So I thought! Turned up and the owner/ receptionist was so rude to me and practically accused me of being a liar as "she had been manning the phone all day so she didn't know who I spoke to". I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in my whole life! I would have walked out if it wasn't for the fact that I desperately needed my hair doing for Xmas. The voucher was for half a head of foils - I have a lot of hair - and I got a quarter head if that. More worryingly there was no consultation at all - the girl said to me "what is it just blonde highlights?". It was like a sweat shop. After being left with the colour on my hair for far too long a beautician came from downstairs and washed it off and then I got my so called "treatment" which she left on for half a second as I now sensed they were in a hurry to get me out. After a cut I asked for a curly blow dry which i was told was not possible as the voucher was for a smooth blow dry - Ridiculous - I have curly hair and it's actually easier on the stylist to do a curly blow dry on me!!!! When leaving I had to leave a cheque for £29 as a deposit as I didn't have my voucher ( again ridiculous). After being told all weekends were fully booked I popped in at peak time( 2pm) on the Saturday before Christmas to bring in my voucher and it was empty! Appalling customer service at this salon. Having purchased a Groupon voucher, i was looking forward to visiting this salon for a '2 hour pampering session' as quoted by Girls World. Having failed to get an appointment before the new year, i thought I would try in January. Everytime I rang they always asked 'Are you using a Groupon?' which I was. When they discovered this they conveniently had no available appointments. I decided to visit the salon in person and asked for any available appointments on any Saturday until the 7th February. At this point they didnt realise I had a Groupon voucher, so they were looking through their appointments and then asked 'by the way are you using a Groupon?' I replied saying does that make any difference and the girl replied saying, well we have no appointments at all apart from midday Tuesday, which is no use to me as I work throughout the week. I find this very hard to believe with January being the quietest month for most salons retalier ect. This salon basically fobs customers off. The young girls who worked inside seemed rude and inexperienced when it came to giving good customer service. A good hairdresser is someone who is willing to make you feel special when you're getting your hair done, not somebody who makes you feel like you are bother to them. Even though I didnt get my hair done at Girls World the atmosphere and service alone was enough to put me off this salon forever. read more
