You don't find this ambience everywhere. Sal is the real deal as well. Quiet and gentle, he makes you feel like you have plenty of time and his full attention, even when other customers are waiting. He is not fussy, but very precise. His cutting is confident and quick. You can tell he has seen it all and knows what to do. The first time he saw me he was able to fix some things that the last barber (another "on location" haircut) had not done so well. In his gentle manner, he told me what to watch for and ask for. After visiting Sal's I met my four sisters in New Hampshire. Even my sisters said it is the best haircut I have had in a long time.
