Giomari salon is the best find in the planet! Giorgio did my hair for years! He is an amazing colorist and a master at his craft! He always listened to what I wanted with my hair, he offered suggestions, when I wanted to go shorter he wouldn't let me because he knew I would regret it! We always found new colors and new styles and he never gets bored of trying something new!!! The staff is amazing, the salon is chic and comfortable and I always left feeling like a model! I actually a few years ago after moving to Atlanta and having so many colorists mess up my hair, drove 12 hours to see Giorgio for my birthday so he could fix my hair!! I tried calling numerous times throughout the week to no answer. So then I tried going to the place to get a haircut during the hours it said they were open. Can we discuss Giorgio!? He. is. amazing!! I am a hair dye virgin but have been wanting to do balayage for about a year now but have been way too nervous about damaging my hair. My cousin raves about him and swears he is the best, and she is not wrong! After researching a ton and not finding anyone I love within reason I decided to trust my cousins judgement and book an appointment (allll the way in North Aurora, which tbh is the only downfall). He is so kind and is an absolute genius with hair! His salon is beautiful and I love how my hair turned out! It's blended beautifully and it's like all the photos I consulted him about but better since I trusted his judgement. Stopped in at this quirky cute salon about a week ago. I'm so glad that I had Jen do my hair. She's so good with color, I love it. They haven't been open very long so they're still trying to get everything in place. Slowly but surely this place will look amazing. As the years go by I've learned that you can't just let anybody touch your delicate hair. So I'm glad I've found Jen and that she's moved on to this salon. Ivette is the most amazing colorist/hair stylist I've ever met. I've been going to her for almost 2 years now and have never changed stylist ever since. Before her I practically had untouched hair for many years because of countless disappointments of bad stylists. Every stylist left me with a color I hated and damaged hair so I never got a hair cut for the same reason, I would just cut it myself after watching a YouTube video (lol). When i found her I had dark long hair with no style. I wanted a change! She gave me an a-symmetrical bob and turned me into a blonde! The compliments I get everywhere I go are so many that some girls want their hair just like mine. It's so beautiful that I think I should have been born a blonde. The salon itself has a chic look, all the staff makes you feel welcome and comfortable regardless of all the different women from different ages and ethnicity that go to the salon. The best thing is Ivette's sassy personality, she is amazing and very fast as well. Fast quality work time flies with her always. I wouldn't change her for the world, she's the best colorist out there and I recommend her to everyone! Did I mention that I live in Chicago? Yes people! Absolutely AWFUL. That is putting it mildly. I think the positive reviews must be from their friends and/or family. I went in for a base color. First, my scalp burned! I have been getting my hair colored for 15 years and this was a first. Yvette asked me if I liked the color and I said, "I have no idea. It's so dark inside the salon." I went home saw that she missed a bunch of spots on my roots and the places where she did get color were two different colors. My scalp just hurt. I woke up the next morning and my scalp was killing me. Soon I started seeing flaking of my scalp- huge pieces. I went into a hair salon to see what was going on. The stylist said the job was horrible, my scalp was burned by the bleach, and now needs corrective color. I went to a second place for another opinion because I just could not believe it. The two stylists there said the exact same thing! I called Yvette to let her know of the situation. She offered to fix it. However, would you ever go into or back to a place that does horrible work and burns people? No thanks. I had to get corrective color and a moisturizing treatment. I have to be careful with my hair for the next few months. The stylists are concerned about breakage. I will need to do lots of moisturizing treatments. Plus, I had to pay $200 to fix this botch job. As a side note- I like to get my make up done by people who have good makeup themselves. As for hair, the same goes. Well, lets just say I wasn't impressed at all and the other female stylist's highlights looked green. But, again, the place was very dark. ;) read more

Ivette has been cutting and dying my hair since last February. I came in with hair that hadn't been professionally cut in over a decade. She layered it and made it a very long asymmetrical cut, with a soft black color. I loved it! The next time, I went for a way shorter bob that was a dark red-violet. Ivette has a cheerful and happy personality, and she's always a pleasure to speak with. She also knows her stuff! I ask approximately 1 billion questions, since I fail at girly things, and she never bats an eye or complains. She never hesitated to explain options to me, or help me decide if a color was good. She's extremely talented and has an excellent eye for fashion and design, which is precisely what you want in a stylist. I've had my hair dyed about four times since I came to the salon without any issues. It has always been a painless and pleasurable experience. The salon itself is very stylish inside - it absolutely stands out in the neighborhood where it's located. Customer service has never been anything but fabulous. The establishment is clean and tidy, and all of the staff is absolutely professional and polite. The prices are average for the area, but they have great package deals if you are getting a lot of services (in my cases, a color touch-up, highlights, and a cut). read more

This could be a great place if they actually showed any kind of care for their clients appointments. Since they're NEVER available (trust me...if you're reading this, call right now and ask when they next availability is) you'd think that when they say they'll call you about an appointment they'd actually follow through. I managed to have one appointment with them throughout the course of the many months I've lived in the area and tried to schedule cuts with them. It wasn't anything great, definitely not worth the price they charge over other salons. I'm disappointed they don't seem to care about the fact that someone is actually interested in doing business with them and being a client of theirs. read more

I really hate to leave a bad review, everyone seemed really nice however the highlights I received here were an absolute horrible!!! They were carelessly placed, uneven, and the work was sloppy. I had chunks of blonde oddly placed, I had three racing stripes of blonde on the right side of my head but hardly any color on the left. I pride myself on having natural looking highlights and I was embarrassed by what I received. I am a professional woman who looked like a teenager who let her friend color her hair. I actually had to have my color corrected by another stylist who had to used low lights to break up the globs of blonde. What lead me to write this review was when my new colorist asked if I had a full or partial highlight, my response was full. She then informed me the back of my hair had no color except for one giant chunk of blonde. I couldn't even believe what she was telling me, so she took a picture to show me. So the hair dresser at Gio Mari Salon had literally taken a clump of my hair in the back of my head and slapped a foil in it. I'm sorry but that's about as lazy as one can get. How dare you, I didn't pay for you to be rush or cut corners on my hair. So disappointing. I will attempt add pictures for you viewing. :( Let it be known, I was a professional hair stylist many years ago so I do know what I'm talking about. With this said, I would like to mention Gio did NOT do my hair and from what I could tell as I got my hair done, Gio's work was amazing. I adore this place. I have been going to Jen foreeever! I have followed her from two other salons to Gio Mari's Salon. Jen is amazing with color. She is aan absolutely sweetheart too! If you walk into this salon in a crappy mood, you will walk out with a smile on your face. Jen, Ivette and Giorgio are all great at what they do. They love doing hair and it shows. I've been having Jen cut my hair for over 10 years at a few different salons, and I am very happy that they've found a location that works for them. All of the stylists are great from what I've seen, and Jen is fantastic. Very friendly and always able to give me the cut I'm looking for. Always ready for appointment times and super courteous to her clients--They get booked, and for good reason, so if you get the chance to come here you will definitely want to come back. I went here last year for a haircut before school. While I was at the salon it looked great, but after a couple days my hair became so dry, damaged and it just looked dead. It was so limp and I ended up having to tie my hair in a ponytail till my next haircut. Really not a great experience. Customer Service was okay though. I called in asking for an appointment around 9 or 10 I think, and I got one at 1. They also have a discount for new customers. Not worth it though. read more

After using the same hairstylist for nearly 10 years, I decided I was in need of a more reliable hairstylist that was closer to home and wouldn't break the bank. I've tried a few new salons over the past few years, but none of them met my expectations (too expensive, uncomfortable atmosphere, poor quality of work, etc.). I found Gio Mari online, and it had good reviews and was close to home, so I figured I would give it a try. Giorgio was AMAZING! He made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in (offered a beverage, ensured I was comfortable, actually talked to me while he worked!). He gave me a real consultation, which I haven't had in years, in which he asked what I liked and didn't like about my hair, what I wanted done, and gave professional suggestions based on my responses. I can't remember the stylist name because it has been a while since my last visit but she has long dark hair...i wasnt much impressed with the outcome of my hair. I make a point to tell everyone that my bangs must be able to go back behind my ear. she cut them waaayyy too short and I suffered it for months! I get terrible eyeaches if my bangs interfere with my vision and so I had to bobbypin my bangs back for a long time! The color was not what i hoped for either but since it wasnt completely botched i made no complaint, paid and went on my merry way vowing to never go to her again. It is hard to find a stylist that really listens. When you tell a stylist to slide cut your bangs but long enough to tuck them behind my ear and to do a full highlite close to scalp, tight back to back foils with only the weaved out hair left out... the stylist should get what your looking for. Some stylist think they can cut corners because they dont think you'll go home and look in the mirror at the back of your head. In a positive light, I have had worse times to other salons AND on the other hand,...Georgio I have used him before and walked away happy with his services. It is a cute shop and I will probably go back but use the other stylists. read more
