Another fly-by-night pop-up restaurant. We paid $30 per person for a group of 4, & that didn't even include drinks, which were charged separately. For that price, we expected a much better experience.
Service was a big disappointment. There was only one female server that lacked any experience handling most of the dining room, and a young trainee stood around talking to the one table of teens she was serving. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone asked what we wanted to drink, and then it was another 15 minutes before our food order was taken. Meanwhile, our server continued seating new guests and taking orders from tables that had just arrived while we were still waiting. As larger parties of 4-6 people came in, they consistently seemed to receive priority over the 2 person tables. Drink refills DIDNT EXIST, food arrived very in pieces and slowly, and our dirty plates piled up because no one cleared them.
There was 2 kids playing tag, running between the tables. When we asked the guy dropping off the soup he said they belonged to the owners.
The sushi itself was just as disappointing. A large percentage of the rolls were fried, and nearly everything that was supposed to contain real crab used imitation crab instead of real crab. Even the Spider Roll came out completely fried, with only a tiny amount of imitation crab inside. Most of the rolls were overloaded with rice, mayonnaise, and fillers instead of quality seafood. The California Rolls had huge chunks of drippy watery cucumber that overwhelmed the roll swimming in a pool of water. All of the rolls were loose, sloppy, and looked rushed rather than carefully prepared with any sushi knowledge.
Another issue was that almost everything tasted like it was made with spicy sauce, even rolls that weren't supposed to be spicy. It seemed like flavors were carrying over from one roll to the next, making many of them taste the same - spiccyy. Clean the sushi area between rolls, NOT everything has spicy-sauce on it and not everyone wants it or can eat it!
The restaurant itself also was unfinished - zero decoration - nothing to make it look or feel like a restaurant or a sushi restaurant at that. It appears to still be using the same furniture from the previous restaurant "East Coast Wings" or before that the building was a "CiCi Pizza" and yet the same furniture, and there was virtually no décor or atmosphere or personality. It felt more like eating in an empty building than at a sushi restaurant. With zero decoration the noise from the other tables echoed, you could hear tables in the corner clearly talking about the bad food or lack or service.
The clientele didn't help the restaurant in any aspects. When we were sat there was two was two disheveled homeless women looked as if they were on something with their mouths stuck open, their eyes rolling and their head dropping, which did not make for a pleasant dining experience.. A larger woman with a teen kid who sat down at the 50/50 booth - she sat down so hard she moved the whole booth including the man and woman sitting on the other side. The larger sized lady turned, looked over her shoulder an just laughing at the fact the whole booth moved 2 feet from where it originally sat pushing the other couple into their table. It was obvious she had done it on purpose to get attention to her what she had done because she started loudly joking about it to the kid with her "you see how far I moved them". The furniture isn't mounted or bolted so there isn't any plans to make it permanent.
Overall, this is a get rich quick "Fly-by-night" sushi restaurant trying to make a quick dollar. The owners of this place DONT and WONT be investing much into the decorating the restaurant or preparing the food with the right ingredients and over charging people for trash-sushi that isn't worth 1/4th of what they are chargjng. This was one of the most disappointing all-you-can-eat sushi experiences I've had. At $30 per person plus drinks, I expected fresh ingredients, attentive service, and well-made sushi. Instead, we received slow service, low-quality ingredients, and food that simply wasn't worth the price. We won't be returning. read more
