Ginger's is a queer-friendly and disability accomidationg barbershop that I adore! I see Jenny-Ray here, a dual-licensed barber and hairdresser whom I have followed to different shops to get my hair done over the last decade. I cannot express enough how glad I am that Ginger's have become their home! It is friendly, conveniently located, cozy, and safe for any and all walks of life, and hair textures! I have been told many times that the nature of my hair requires several upcharges; length, texture, thickness (I don't even have thick hair), frequently at the end of my appointment when the service is already done, blindsiding me. With Jenny, that has never been an issue, and it is standard practice across the whole shop. I pay what the original agreed upon price is, every time. If something is up with my hair that requires additional charges, we discuss options and a budget. I have always loved my haircuts from Jenny, but I love them even more now that I get to enjoy them at Ginger's! I cannot reccommend them enough. I've come to Gingers every 2-4 weeks since 2010 and have always recommended my friends and family here. But ever since they've switch up barbers I haven't been happy with their customer service. Today was the breaking point for me. Everywhere posted says they close at 5:30, but let it be known that they "don't take appointments starting at 5pm, so they can get out by 5:30." Understandable, if it was clear online, Instagram or even here on Yelp. But I've never been turned away at 5:18pm because "they've had a long day." Thank you for the past 10 Ish years.... Finally! We've found a Barbershop that can manage to act professionally and do an amazing cut, at a great price I might add! I just loved Ginger's from the moment I walked in.. and I wasn't even getting a haircut! The gals were super nice and the waiting area was real cozy! My Hubs was a Walk-in and we chose a good time for it as there wasn't much of a wait at all. His Barber knew exactly what he wanted without tagging some Hipster Name to it, and pulled off an exemplary cut, quickly. During my last haircut pre-Covid my barber gave me more money in change than she should have. When I tried to explain that she gave me back the same amount I paid, Ginger insinuated that I was trying to argue the price and asked the one male employee at the time to come to the front. Ginger assumed I was being a problem customer, but in reality none of the employees understood basic math. I gave my barber a large tip as it was the only thing I actually had to pay for. My barber thanked me for my generosity but Gingers attitude prevented me from being able to pay the actual cost. read more

Ginger started cutting my hair in the 1990's and was the only I ever went to for all 6 years that I was in Lexington. Lucky for me, she's still going strong and I still visit often. This place is wonderful! The staff is so nice and fun! We have the best chats, and they seem legitimately interested in catching up. I'm an eccentric fellow, and I've never encountered any negativity. I get a high quality shave and a hair-cut within 10 to 15 minutes. They're casual and professional at the same time, and I feel that this place really contributes a lot to making the Lexington downtown community great. I received an outstanding haircut from ginger herself. She was personable, quick and efficient and worked through of her short line in no time. If you show up and there is a wait, don't despair, it will be quick and there are plenty of current magazines. The price was $15 for a men's haircut, plus tip. While the nationwide chain barbers are $14 , this place offers much better service. read more

Totally butchered my head. Was done in 6-7 minutes. Clearly worried more about getting to the 4 people waiting then executing simple instructions. Asked for a simple fade of the sides, got the same length all the way up. Basically got a military cut.
