The gift toiletries are beautifully packaged, including Isle of Arran's After the Rain range, which I absolutely love. There's Emma Bridgwater crockery (the chunkiness of which I absolutely adore, and which indicates that I am in the type of shop I like, although I've never found an exact design that I would want to buy). There are suitable gifts for the 'older' and sometimes more difficult generation. The shelf of handkerchiefs was prettily arranged; do people still buy these? Birthday and occasion cards are high quality and classy designs, including 3-D cards. The staff smiled and said thank you as we left the shop, which is something to remark upon in this day and age

They sell all sorts of contemporary and designer homeware and gifts ranging from photo albums to furniture. However it is a lovely little shop and it is definitely worth going out of your way to have a look around.

The owner finds most of the bigger ammonites himself (after storms, etc) and then chisels / cleans them up in his workshop in the back which is worth asking to see because it is a great little setup. He will tell you why some are grey and others are orange (hint - the minerality of the surrounding soil) and was not trying to upsell me in any way. Really great range of local and international fossils all well labelled and well priced. The owner sold me 2 great pieces which are officially the oldest things I now own and also threw in a free 1£ turquoise ring for my wife... everyone wins! They also rent hammers for anyone who wants to go find their own (I found a good handful of small ones).

From the bargain basket of fossils and polished fossilised wood by the entrance, you know that this is a store reflecting the passion of its owner. The store is myriad of impressive stone fossils, mineral sections, gemstones, jewellery, and larger impressive structure like the huge Icthyosaur skull to the rear of the shop. A fascinating place that has gifts to suit all budgets from a few pounds for a keyring, to many hundreds of pounds for the larger fossils. You can also hire a fossil hammer from the shop for around £10, and with a little instruction from the owner, you can go and hunt for your own fossils on the nearby beach.

The…read moreshop is filled with clothes - some gypsy, funky, very girly stuff with all kinds textures to the fabrics. I think every outfit in the place makes some kind of statement. I just haven't found a statement that I'd like to make with any of it yet. There are some beautiful things here though, with price tags to go with them. There is lots of jewelry and some greeting cards, and gift type things. What I really love is the little chandeliers that hang by the stairs on display, and the huge selection of fun scarves. There are lots of pillows upstairs that deserve a good look. Some are just beautiful. I can spend hours in this shop. The staff tend to be stand-offish, although not really unfriendly. I've been frequenting this shop for over a year and have not yet had someone ask to help.

A lot of the jewellery is made with gems so there's a whole range of colours to choose from. Some are dainty and some are quite exuberant, and all points in between. The prices are very good too, in my opinion. At the back of the shop you start seeing polished stones as items on their own and then there's incense and burners and natural oils and all sorts of 'new age' type items.
