The core problem: they used the simplified forms approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court for spouses who have already reached full agreement, own no real property, and hold no retirement accounts. That description doesn't remotely match my situation -- my spouse and I own real property, hold retirement accounts, and had not resolved division of the marital estate or spousal support. The forms they used were not appropriate for our case, despite my having provided all of this information to them directly. The result was a complaint that misrepresented the facts of my case. I ultimately had to hire an attorney to redraft it entirely, at additional cost and delay I wouldn't have incurred with proper handling from the start. Beyond the substantive error, the process itself was slow. It took them over a month to file once they had everything they needed from me, questions submitted by email routinely took around 10 days to get a response, and I wasn't even told that my complaint had been filed and accepted by the court until 8 days after the fact. I went into this hoping a lower-cost, DIY-adjacent service could handle a divorce that I assumed would be reasonably straightforward. Instead, I got a legally deficient document, slow communication, and a lack of transparency about basic case status.
