I waited to write this review until I had a better experience elsewhere, which helped me come to the conclusion that a lot of people who are writing these 5 star reviews do so because they don't realize that there are places in town producing higher quality work when it comes to lashes. I first had my lashes done back in June; this was my first time having extensions done at a lash studio. There were so many glowing reviews that I didn't think I could go wrong, even at the price that they were charging for just classic lash extensions. They were reasonably well done, and the whole experience was wonderful, as the ladies that work at GI/LD are sweet and friendly. However, when my lashes were done, I was a bit taken aback by the length; they were so long! They also looked sparse, and when I had initially asked about volume, I was "informed" that volume lashes are "bad for your lashes," and would "make natural lashes fall out." This was not what I have been told in the past, and I know many people who have volume lashes without any damage to their natural lashes, even after regular volume fills every three weeks for years! I was also disappointed that mine looked terrible after a short period of time of only 10 days, even after taking care to not touch or rub my eyes, use any oil-based products on the lids - I even avoided eye shadow. It wasn't long before I started looking elsewhere. I am so glad that I did. Look at the photos of my results/comparison of GI/LD versus another lash studio in town where I get hybrid lash fills (volume and classic extensions). My lashes at GI/LD at 10 days, which look spiky and too long, followed by my lashes at another lash studio after TWO WEEKS, which are a more natural length and have more fullness because of the volume fans. They still looked just as good at three weeks - I just don't have a photo. My current lash stylist is very sweet and has sound ethical practices, and because I respect her (and because I know her work pays for itself and she doesn't need my recommendations; her lash business is doing really well), I will not disclose the name of the studio. By the way, she charges the same for my hybrid fills that GI/LD charged me for just classic fills. The extra volume is very much worth the price in comparison to a classic fill. Ever since I've reached my 30's I have wanted to try a chemical peel but have been afraid to give it a shot. I finally worked up the courage and went to Gild to get a sensi peel (a great less aggressive option for first timers like myself). The salon was adorable. It's in a converted home that's maintained the charm of the unique structure merged with a salon sleekness. Ana did my peel, she was very professional, educated me on the sensi peel and talked me through the procedure so I knew what was going on every step of the way. Right after the procedure my skin felt very soft and over the next few days I noticed my skin tone was more even and had a glow. I also got a leg wax which was much quicker than expected! I've been waiting for the end results to finally review Gild on microblading. Here is my honest opinion! Things to know before thinking about getting it done. -You can't wet your brows! At all!! YOU CAN NOT WET YOUR BROWS AT ALL!! 7-12 DAYS is how long I waited until I did. That is if you want to see the best results... Brittany worked on my brows. They give you a sheet with instructions on what to do before and what to expect. Read and follow through. The room is cold so bring a sweater. Brittany numbed me twice cause I'm not good with any pain. So the entire process was around 2 hours and they give you some ointment to apply on your brows for the next couple days after. Don't apply too much! The first days I was freaking out even though I knew that they were going to be dark asf. I wasn't sure how I wasn't going to get my brows wet. I wonder if anyone has come up with some awesome brow covers for the shower. Anwayssss a week went by and I noticed that I of course got them a little wet from washing my face from taking off my make up. I sort of have an advantage because I naturally have full brows but some patches I wasn't comfortable with but you could see where it was blotchy from getting them wet. Fast forward to my 6 week touch up. I was not excited to get bladed again but it was worth it. The process was exactly like 6 weeks prior with the same after care instructions. I FREAKIN LOVE MY BROWS!! I wake up and I'm ready to go. I don't have to spend 10-15 minutes staring and filling in my brows. It's also easy getting my brows threaded cause they kind of have a guide to go off of because of how perfect the shape is. I would highly recommend getting your brows microbladed IF you are tired of filling them in every damn day or have some patches you wanna get covered up. It's a hard after care process to follow...that's my biggest con. I don't know if I would do it again. You literally can't do anything for 2 straight weeks but it was really worth it. You also can't beat the price that they offer. Check the ladies out and follow instructions. They do their part by measuring and blading perfect strokes so it's on you to follow through. Update - it honestly took a few days for my eyes to recover from the lash lift. They were swollen, and I even got a scab on one eyelid. I unfortunately would still not try that service again. HOWEVER... I was really very impressed with how they handled the situation. The girl who did it called me to apologize and ask me questions in such a sincere and concerned way. She genuinely wanted to know what my experience was, and intended to contact the product supplier about my reaction. I didn't feel an ounce of annoyance or frustration from her, and she offered me a gift card as compensation. I returned to Brittany for my brows, and it was good. I'm really glad I took her advice to let certain areas fill in, as I've never seen my brows this full. This time the plucking was not painful, and a very different experience.
