They filed our taxes for us and according to their filing we were supposed to be getting a return of $5,000. We just received a letter from the IRS over the weekend indicating not only are we not getting a refund, but we actually owe $400. To add insult to injury, they were closed yesterday and then closed again today so we can't talk to someone and ask how they were so far off. If they rectify this for us in some way I will update my review, but when we filed our own taxes many many years we NEVER got it wrong. Not sure how we paid these people $700 and this is the end result? Update: I tracked down their hours and it seems they're not closed, but their hours are only 9 am - 12 pm every day. I'm a teacher (teaching summer school) so I can't call them to discuss this. We uploaded the letter from the IRS into the portal over the weekend and haven't heard back. read more

Gilbert Tax Center is absolutely amazing. They have been doing my family's taxes for many years now and it has always been extremely easy for me to do even if my taxes are complicated. They have been able to complete my taxes as a military member, military spouse, and a travel nurse who has lived in many states and held residency in states other than the one I lived in. They are quick, accurate, and extremely helpful. Axel and Wendy are amazing people who love to help. They can answer all of your questions no matter how big or small. My daughter and I used this service for the first time this year. All of the taxes seem correct and the portal made things very easy. I'm disabled and don't like to wandering about. I used the portal quite a lot, set up folders for different kinds of information, easily uploaded documentation, and asked any questions I had. All questions were answered promptly and the taxes were complete within a few days of my last upload. I have even created a file on the portal to upload documents to throughout the year so I'll be a step ahead next year. It was a little expensive, but the ease of the portal made it worth it. We have been using Axel for over 10 years now and have referred friends and family to him. He is very knowledgeable about the tax laws, very personable with his clients (his wife played with our daughter while we were busy with the numbers), and yes, we always leave with a jar of BBQ sauce :) But more importantly, Axel is available and reachable for us year round (not just during tax season) with questions or concerns we may have arise that would impact our taxes throughout the year. If you're a regular customer, he sends an early bird special coupon for a little discount to get your taxes done early which is a good opportunity for us to save a couple of bucks. We used Axel for years. Then one year, something got missed by Axel. I won't bore you with details but it was a mistake that cost us a decent amount of money out pocket. We chalked it up as human error. Then 2 years later it happened again. That time it cost us over 800 dollars in late fee's and interest. Again, it was something that our new CPA said should have been caught, and addressed immediately. Minus his decent BBQ sauce, I can't really recommend this place for anything else. His prices aren't bad but the fact that he couldn't even take the time to look into this or recommend someone to reach out to really irked me. New CPA gave me a number to call, and I had this mess resolved and answered literally in 15 minutes. Axel gave my wife and I a number which we sat on hold for hours (no, really...HOURS) only to get zero answer's or any info other then "go talk to your CPA"....which was a complete waste of time. Nice guy, but go somewhere else...not worth the headache... read more

I always do my taxes myself but since I knew we were going to pay this year I decided to try this service 1. I had a coupon 2. It was local . I paid over 200.00 for a pretty easy return and was told I would receive my payment coupons in the mail. I finally had to go and get them on the 24th of March almost 2 weeks from my original date. As I was checking the numbers I realized Mr. Williams had forgot to input an amount ( it was to my advantage) I called and asked what should be done. He told me to minus the amount and send it in and that it should be ok, and that if the IRS had an issue we would deal with it later. I am not comfortable with this and would like to send in a correct tax form. I have called 3 times so far asking to have the taxes corrected and he has yet to call me back. So basically I paid to make sure my taxes were done correctly (which they weren't ) and now I'm at this persons mercy to fix them. Please DON'T go here, they seem very lackadaisical and unprofessional. read more
