The youngest House of the Lord I've visited yet. Gorgeous inside and out, with stunning rose windows. Come unto Christ.

Truly a beautiful temple (as are all temples). I feel entirely at peace just walking the grounds here. The workers at this temple are remarkable men and women called by God. the If you are visiting Gilbert and have time and ability to make an appointment and enter, I highly recommend it, if not I reccomend a stroll across the scenic grounds to admire the well kept flora. read more

This is a very impressive worship space, one which I was fortunate enough to visit just before it's consecration a few months ago. An LDS friend gave me a private grand tour and I came away very much amazed with all the work and effort put into this Temple. The only down side was my inability to take any pictures inside. For those who know me, I would have normally have taken a couple of dozen pictures. So I was somewhat disappointed that it wasn't allowed, per Mormon custom. But it was something which I respected on my visit. This is also one of the largest temples I've ever seen and the grounds are massive. Probably on a par with the one in Las Vegas. The only other LDS Temple I've been inside, is one back in Glenview, Illinois, which is tiny by comparisons. I left amazed and very impressed. read more

In all the hustle bustle it is nice to visit a Temple for its peacefulness and serenity.

I have my own beliefs but am very curious and opened minded to other religions, and when I learned that the new Mormon Temple in Gilbert will be having opened tours for free to public from the middle of January to the middle of February, I knew I wanted to check it out. So I went to the web site and looked up tickets, spots where filling up fast, wound up getting 2 for Friday the 31st at 8:45am, so I booked it and printed them out. Friday came and off we went, when you print out the tickets: 1) it lets you know to dress in your Sunday best (yes I changed before I went to work later that day), 2) that once you arrive you will watch a 14 min video before your tour and 3) where to park, you should pay attention to the parking, the main parking lot fills up fast. We were early but they took us right away, went into the visitor center/ gym area and was shown a seat, waited a few minutes for the room to fill up, then watched a 14 minute video which explained the reasons for the temples, and how the Mormons came to be, then we were told to wait for a usher to show us the way out. It was like standing in line for a Disneyland ride, we followed the rest of the people up to the temple, before going in the sisters placed paper booties over our shoes, guess to keep things dirt free, and I don't blame them. I'm not going to go play by play on the tour, but it was the most quietest tour I have ever been on, on this tour from room to room you get to read signs, and keep your questions at the end. While inside the temple, we did not go through the entire building, but did get to see quite a bit, the baptismal room, sealing room, the celestial room, changing rooms, upstairs, down stairs, around hallways, all while being completely quiet with 10 to 15 other people. The Celestial room is bright, white and has an amazing crystal chandelier hanging in the center of room, long tall stain glass windows, white carpet, smaller replicas of the huge chandleries, this is the room one can feel closer to God, so I am now 100% sure God loves Bling, don't worry big guy so do I :) , the only thing that stood out to me was the blue flowered sofas that look like they were from the 70's. And one other thing about the temple, the marble; it was the flooring, molding, and counter tops. This Temple, as a building is nicely done, it's very beautiful and on the outside looks huge, but during the tour, what I saw was a bunch of little rooms/offices, space not fully maximized, at least by my thoughts. Had a great time touring the Temple and seeing how lush it is, at the end of it, whatever questions I had I let them go and just headed off to the car, it was a once in a lifetime experience for me, thank you Gilbert LDS Temple for giving me the chance to see your beautiful building before its blessed and the public no longer able to see it. read more

Im not a religious person, but I work with a lot of people who are Mormon, so with all the buzz around the office I had to go check out this LDS Gilbert Temple, while the open house was going on. WOW! This place is amazing!!!! The architecture is outstanding, marble floors, silk, crystals; no expense was spared when building this temple. I cant believe how elegant and breathtaking everything is. It took a lot of skilled people to put together this building and they definitely deserve massive recognition! I also would like to thank all the volunteers who made this open house possible, everyone was very kind, helpful and happy. Not once were we asked nor bothered about joining the Mormon faith, you can just come and look at it if you are curious and of course stay and ask question if you are interested in joining! LOL! If you haven't had a chance to make it out and look at this amazing building, if you're religious or not, it is a sight worth seeing! read more

I live right down the street and love the lights and easter pageant. Parking gets a little crazy but that isn't' their fault.

AWESOME temple. Big, beautiful, good parking. Much newer than the one in Mesa though you should check that one out for its historic value and amazing Easter Pageant and Christmas lights each year. Unless you are a member of the Church you cannot go inside, but there is a visitors area and the grounds are beautiful. Very peaceful. read more

Absolutely the most gorgeous architecture! Peace, tranquility and hope can be felt here. The grounds are so well cared for and the water features add a calming effect. The whole temple uses themes from the Sonoran Desert. Stained glass windows with yucca and granite inlaid with desert designs bring a unique flavor to this temple. It's definitely a place you can go to pray and meditate. I love the sanctuary from the crazy world that I feel here. read more

Certainly a stunning work if architecture. The fact that they opened it to the public for free tours for a month from Jan 15 to Feb 15th is a very nice act of goodwill. Being curious of religions in general, we decided to check it out. We went online to the Temple website and reserved two tickets for yesterday (Sat) for the 145pm tour. We tried to reserve 4 tix, but only 2 spots were available. We had the idea that they were taking in small groups, which made sense given how holy a temple is in the Mormon faith. What actually happened: We showed up around 140pm to crowds of people the likes of which I haven't witnessed since going to Disney World during March break! There were THOUSANDS of people lined up everywhere trying to get in. We asked one of the dozens of helpful ushers where the forward thinking "reserved ticket holders" skip the huge lines and we were directed to the end of a different extremely long line. We were told from the point we entered would be about an hour wait! I don't wait in line for ANYTHING longer than 20min. Nothing short of front row seats to an Eagles concert or an intimate evening with Morgan Freeman will have me stand in line that long excepting of course airport security or Customs. No amusement park ride, concert, club, Black Friday sale, restaurant, movie, Broadway show, grocery line, car wash, bank, coffee shop, NOTHING! Once I hit 20min or it's obvious it will go at least that long...I'm out! Then we saw another massive line outside the actual Temple. You see this was a two building your starting in a different building. The Temple was part two. Turns out according to the Ushers there would be yet another 30min wait to get in there as all comers had to don white booties to save the carpets inside. Again my 20min rule applied. So needless to say we left and headed to an olive farm instead. I suppose I could try to make another reservation during the week on my own as my wife works days, but it's a really long drive and I've seen enough pictures of the breath taking interior on the internet. It really is amazing work. All of is to say, if you have about 2 hours to fill in your life waiting in massive lines and finally getting in it's a day trip not to miss! read more

The only place that feels more like home in my heart and soul than anywhere else on Earth Just seeing it off the 202 freeway puts my thoughts back into an eternal perspective and being on any of the over 150+ temple grounds around the world brings the same peace and reassurance that I am loved by God...entering in is the BEST feeling...to know you are leaving what is going on in the world outside and entering a place of true peace to strengthen not only yourself but your family in this life is a blessing worth everything read more

An amazingly beautiful building to be able to feel peace and quiet from this loud and not so peaceful world. As a member of the LDS church, I am thankful to have this temple so close as I know so many in other areas are not as fortunate. For those that aren't if this religion it is still a beautiful building and surrounding grounds to take an afternoon walk. A quiet place to ponder or just relax. The craftsmanship and architecture are beyond my scope of ideas. It was incredibly and meticulously planned. If you ever have the chance, this is a definite place to visit. read more
