Aggressively pushed expensive additional work using fear tactics - "it's dangerous," "it's unsafe" - but didn't give us full answers about the details of what was actually wrong. We had to pay for TWO separate service calls because they failed to fully diagnose the problem the first time. No discount, no accommodation for THEIR mistake. We literally paid double for what should've been one visit. Worse - when we questioned things, the electrician got defensive and raised his voice. Instead of answering our reasonable questions, he tried to use intimidation to shut down the conversation. Classic manipulation tactic to avoid accountability. When we said we'd think about it, the price soon dropped significantly. Major red flag. The guy was condescending and treated us like we were wasting his time. Dude, we're paying YOU. I called Gil's Electrical Service after getting a coupon for special services. I told them I had some electrical sockets that weren't working. They said it would be $185 to come out and fix them. They also said I would get a senior discount as I am 65 years old. They were two hours late from the window they quoted me. Then when they arrived, they told me my whole electrical system would have to be rewired and would cost me thousands of dollars. I told them I couldn't afford that as a retired senior. They told me they could work a payment plan. They charged me close to $300 for the visit without fixing anything, not the $185 as told on the phone for just coming out. I contacted Gil's Electrical to install three 4 inch canned LED lights in my bathroom and a dimmer switch (which I provided). Saul and his crew completed that part of the job. The electricians were intent on an up-sale of some sort. They tried to sell me a bathroom fan, encouraged me to add a surge protector to my electrical panel, and suggested I remove the wiring that was connected to my old jacuzzi tub. Since I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel, I agreed to have them remove the old wiring. However, after they disconnected it, the plug in the adjacent bedroom no longer worked. I called back right away to let them know my plug wasn't working. Saul called back and promised to return the next day to fix the problem. After I didn't hear anything by noon the next day, I called the company only to be told that there are "no guys in the area today [and I can expect a call] next week." So now I am without a working plug or a follow up appointment to repair the problem. Sigh. Sometimes it's best to pay a little more for better customer service. read more

Tiffany was rude out of 4 recess led lights 1 was left with putty oozing out from the sides they said my responsibility to fix and patch. I called Gil's electrical service after seeing their ad in remodeling 101. When I called, I spoke to an operator, mentioned the offer I saw in the ad, and she told me that someone would give me a call soon to schedule a time for the electricians to come out. It took several days for someone to contact me. When they did, the lady on the phone scheduled for the electricians to come out this afternoon. I agreed. They came out this afternoon and were unprofessional. They also showed up not wearing masks. It was clear from the beginning that they want to upsell you unnecessarily. As soon as they came in, they brought a case showing the difference in light between the deal-included lights versus the non-deal included lights. They wanted nearly double the price for those. The ad promised $196 for four recessed lights in one room, but when they showed up the electrician said that doesn't include a switch! He wanted to charge an additional $95 for a switch. How am I supposed to have four lights in a room without a switch to control them? I already had a switch in the room so the only thing they needed to do was connect the new recess lights to the existing switch. They wanted $95 for that! Six years ago coming this March 2021 we had Gil's electrical service install overhead lighting in our kitchen along with two overhead fans at a cost of $900. At the time we were told that the LED upgraded lighting would have a guarantee of 30 years. This past year one of those six lights failed in our kitchen. Currently I am in a wheelchair and had decided to add some smart Wi-Fi dimmer devices for House lighting. Again I called Gil's to explain my situation and ask for replacement of the overhead light installed in 2015. I was told that a team was in the area and I would receive a call when they would be by to look at the situation. Early that afternoon I received a call and their team of three arrived. Gabriel the project manager looked at by the kitchen lighting and insisted that Gil's did not install those lights. After showing him the receipt, without calling me a liar he did! They would not honor replacement under the promised guarantee. I had told him that perhaps since five years had passed newer LED lighting was replaced. Still no movement on their part after he called HQ. Due to the situation that I am currently in, I decided to have them replace all six lighting with identical lights and install the three smart Wi-Fi Dimmers purchased by me. Be Warn!!! this company advertises on those pamphlets you get in the mail by called The Resource - it's false advertising. There are hidden fees they charge you after the fact. I would have given 5 stars for the workers that showed up because they friendly and worked very quickly. However, they arrived an hour before the timeframe that was given over the phone when I initially made the appt. After the work is done, a worker hands you a piece of paper asking how the service was. Funny how they can't provide a list of the work performed. Since my husband was home he paid the bill, so I learned after they left, how much they charged him. Now I know why they want you to fill out that 1 pager on their performance before an invoice. Again, the workers don't provide any written invoice for the services before or afterwArdis. Rather it get's emailed to you the next day by the company. That would have been good to know when I made the appointment- hint, hint!! More importantly, the girl that answers the company phone is lacking in customer service!!! Horrible person. I indicated I would like to take advantage of their advertised special of four recessed ceiling lights. I wrongly told them they would be replacing existing lights. They said that it was another 50% to replace existing lights, I said you must be mistaken, replacement versus original install has to be a lot easier, They said no, replacement was an extra cost. I have never given a bad review - which means they have to be pretty bad if I do. Wish I could give "0" stars. I called off of an ad in the Home Improvement Guide on a special they were having. I started by asking if the special was still in effect and the woman that answered the phone said yes and I started to ask if they could come out and give an estimate....but before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted and informed: "you have to purchase the service, we don't do estimates". I asked, "so you didn't let me finish my question, I wanted to possibly have you estimate additional electrical work as well". Again, she said I had to purchase the special first then they would look at other possible work. WOW, pretty much the rudest person and response I have had EVER. I don't know who answered the phone today 5/5/2021 but this person was my reason for going with another company - I'll pay more, but the service will be better. Typical bait and switch place! Called them as I saw their ad about 4 recess lights installed for 195$. I called and double-checked what it was going to charge. The lady over the phone confirmed that since I was using existing light switch, it was only 195$. The PM, Sal And team showed up next day and immediately tried to upsell LED lights for additional 100$ and asked additional 100$ for routing wires. When he called the same back office lady, she was super rude and said if I didn't want the team can leave. I asked them to get the f out of my house. Sal apologized for her and offered to install LED ones for 295$. I had already taken a day off from work and decided to get it installed. I would leave a ZERO star if I could. I contacted Gil's Electrical Service a few days ago and I scheduled an appointment this Tuesday. I double checked and confirmed the appointment and took time off work specifically for this appointment. They gave a pretty wide time window, from 11am to 2pm but nevertheless I waited until about 1pm still heard nothing from them and nobody showed up so I gave them a call. Then they said the electrician was running late and asked me to reschedule tomorrow. I told them I specifically took time off for this work and I won't have tomorrow so I need it done today. This is usually how things work in the industry. Being late is normal but if you can't make it to the appointment, you should send another guy that is available and I told them I don't mind waiting a little bit but I need to get it done today since I won't be able to take time off work another time on this. Then at about 1:40 PM they told me again the electrician won't be able to come today and asked me to reschedule. I told them again I need it done today and I don't mind waiting a little bit. Then they said again they won't able to send the electrician today. I told them send him on Sunday then since I don't have to take time off. Then they told me they only work Monday thru Friday and told me "Thank you! Find another electrician then." This is ridiculous! How can you say stuff like this to your Customer! They get you to commit to an install over their marketing, however when they show up that's for dated technology and if you upgrade the hidden costs come up, wire tapping $95 +$65 for the recessed fixture + $35 each LED. Long story short 6 LEDs 6 dry wall holes for them running the electrical line that I now I have to repair on my own $631+$350 dry wall repair for their vandalism. I had a different experience. I was very satisfied with this company. They did as said they would do. I was presented different options of lights and was able to choose as I wanted. All costs were explained upfront and they stuck with it. They also upfront about the repair holes...however also provided solutions if I wanted to go with them. I called and a young lady answered and stated that there was a $189.00 minimum service fee. So I said maybe you should add that to the add next time because advertising $125. and then telling the customer it would be a minimum of $189 seems pretty shady. I would steer clear of this company as these seem dishonest right out of the gate. The girl was very unconcerned with this and just said "It states the minimum charge on the add" and when I told her it was not on the add she said "sorry, do you have anything else they can fix?". I don't usually post a review but I have to mention how impressed I was with Gil's electric's service. I needed 2 power outlets and it took my handyman forever to finish (including recovering broken walls) and the price was okey. When I called Gil's electronics, the receptionist quoted the cost of the work right away, which is surprising very reasonable. She also said that the wok could be done today since they happened to be in town. They arrived 2 hours after my phon call, finished all work within 30 minutes. Wall looks stays as clean as before so no touch up painting job needed. I saved 40% of money (touch up painting by handyman/painters) and length of time to be with vendors.
