Review of Gibson Land Services - My Experience I hired Gibson Land Services on July 15th to cut down four trees, clean up, and demolish/haul off an old pole-style shed that had fallen over. I paid $7,000 in full up front. From the start, communication and follow-through were poor. We had agreed to coordinate with the electric company to move power lines so they could safely cut the trees. When the electric company arrived on July 17th at 7:30 AM, JD (the owner) seemed surprised, but eventually sent someone at 9:30 AM. They cut one tree and left, saying they'd be back the next day. On July 18th, after I checked in at 11:30 AM, I was told they were finishing another job and would come Monday instead. When they returned, they again had to have the electric company move lines. While cutting, they broke an above-ground water spigot and damaged a post on another shed that didn't belong to me--they never informed us, never offered to fix it, and simply left the broken post for us to deal with. By July 23rd, the cut trees and the collapsed shed still weren't cleaned up. I contacted JD and told him cleanup was urgent because I had contractors scheduled for septic and excavation work. He sent a crew later that afternoon, but all they did was push the debris aside--still leaving a mess. JD also tried to upsell me on tearing down another shed, which I declined. They did eventually haul off the cut trees, but never cleaned up the collapsed shed as agreed. From July 28th to August 8th, I repeatedly asked when they would finish. Each time, JD gave excuses ("too hot," "busy with other jobs," "on the way," "two flat tires") but his crew never showed. On August 6th, my other contractors had to move the pile of debris three separate times to do their work. I asked again on August 7th for immediate cleanup--still nothing. On August 8th, I asked for either the work to be finished or a $1,000 refund. No response. On August 9th, I gave a final deadline of August 12th at 3 PM before pursuing legal action. Again--no response. In short: Paid $7,000 in full before work was completed. Poor scheduling and repeated delays. Damage to property not disclosed or repaired. Shed cleanup never completed despite repeated promises. Multiple no-shows and ignored messages. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Gibson Land Services. I hope sharing this helps others avoid similar frustration. read more

Great service we had a tree fall against our house when we were the other side of the country. We called and within a couple of hours they were at the house cutting the tree back away from the House, and the next day they were back in the morning cleaning up and removing it. Would definitely them. read more

Fast quality work from a reliable professional. Contacted JD Wed morning early regarding some bush hog service, small tree removal, drainage and driveway repairs. He quickly took care of all the issues. Kept me in the loop with texts and pictures since I was out of town. I will definitely be calling JD back for a few more outdoor projects in the near future. read more

I do not recommend Gibson Land Services... On Monday, August 18th JD came to my house and quoted the below work. Mow all of yard. Put rock in front of house. Plastic under the rock. Take down 2 small trees in backyard. (note: one tree was only a stump about 3 feet tall) Edge everything. On Tuesday, August 19th the team arrived to do the work. Mowed the front and the back yards. Weedeated around the shed, the driveway and around the house. They sprayed the area for the rock with weed killer. I paid in full on the first visit. A week passed and no show on the return visit. The return visit was rescheduled many times. And they never showed. Always an excuse. The last rescheduling attempt was Monday, 9/15 at 1:34. He had just finished a meeting and would be headed to my house. Never showed. No response to my last 3 texts. read more

They gave a bid and was friendly. Stated they would do the job on Sat. I called on Thursday to see what time they would be there and he stated he would come on Friday around noon He texted me at 11:25am saying he would not be able to make it. JD stated he would try to be there in the morning and he would text me the time. No text no show. At 10:58 I texted him and was told they were finishing a job and would text me when they got done. Tuesday texted JD said they would do it Tuesday night at 7pm. At 6:03 pm received a text stating that they would be there Wednesday night one way or the other. JD Gibson did not show. 5 days later still no contact from the company. I would not waste my time again with this company. I would rate them zero stars since they never showed up to do the job. Hired JD and crew to help with drainage on new construction. The work was sloppy, not focused and "crew" was often left alone to do whatever they wanted. Work was never completed according to written plan. JD promised to return if we had any issues. First rain left us with standing water, we called, but have never seen JD again. "Unexpected" issues raised the cost. Stay clear of this guy! You've been warned, I wish we had been. read more

They didn't want to do the job because it is in sloped land with trees. They would have clear the land before installing the new system.

Had an appointment to review the job and they were a no show. If you don't want the job, just decline up front.

Gibson Land Services located in Sharps Chapel, Tn. is a scam. I was desperate to have a tree removed from my livestock fence, and I called the number 517-477-0311 that I found on YRLP, and JD Gibson came out to give me a quote. He also said that a 1/2 amount deposit was required, but the estimate did not say that the 1/2 amount deposit was unrefundable. He came the next day, did one terrible cut on the remaining portion of the tree, damaged my livestock fence even more and demanded 1/2 the estimate amount deposit. On this receipt I did not notice that the new receipt said "nonrefundable". I believe he added this later. Everything was done on an iPad, and being older, I didn't have my reading glasses. When he received 1/2 payment, he left immediately. He didn't come back the next day as he promised and he has not returned a week later, as we scheduled. JD Gibson is a SCAM ARTIST and I paid him a lot of money with no profitable work to show for it. DO NOT HIRE JD GIBSON OF GIBSON LAND SERVICES AS LISTED ON YELP. We contracted Gibson Land Services to grade and level a pad for a 14 x 36 shed. JD was very prompt with his response and reasonable quote. During the process JD stayed in contact with us letting us know exactly when he would arrive and finished the job in a timely manner. He did an outstanding job and I feel confident in recommending Gibson Land Services. read more
