Hello Yelpers,
I had dinner last night at this new Italian restaurant which opened less than 3 weeks ago. The restaurant is included in the "Assiette Genevoise" scheme which, for those of you who are not familiar with the concept, allows people who purchased their member cards to have a free meal at different places in Geneva - it's a great way to discover new places. Hence me going to Giardino Italiano last night.
The restaurant is situated in the middle of "Les Grottes" neighbourhood which is a very laid back and suburb like part of the city, behind the train station. The terrace was very cosy and packed. The inside area (which is pretty big) looks modern. The waiters were as nice as it gets and offered us appetisers, which usually puts me in a good mood!! The wine was also really good.
I ordered the Miss Italia pizza... and damn what a whole lot of a lady that one was... It pretty much had everything on it, rucola, smoked ham, parmesan, mozza di buffala, as well as truffle oil. It was good but it took a lot out of me to actually finish it, and I'm a big eater... My friends ordered deserts which I didn't find incredible to be honest: the tiramisu was ok and one bite of the pana cotta was enough for me.
The rest of the menu looked pretty common for what looks like an upscale Italian restaurant in Geneva, you have a good choice of pasta, meat and fish dishes. Pizzas are regular ones. Prices are a little higher than at more traditional Italian restaurants but nothing too excessive (yet this comes from someone who comes from Geneva).
Overall I would give this restaurant 3 stars and a half, the atmosphere was good and I'll be happy to go back. Don't know if I can call myself a fan though...
Hope this helps. Until then, happy yelping!!
