This is a fine giant. I haven't been to many but it seems fine. I have a huge issue with the bathrooms. They are absolutely disgusting.

I have a feeling that a lot of these reviews are not for the Hellertown Giant. I consider it a decent "general needs" grocery store with a decent health food selections and produce. And I'm pretty picky. My complaint is with the cashiers. I know I know...they are mostly kids, mostly temporary etc but can't they please be trained in basic customer service? As in saying thank you rather than "no problem" after I say thank you to them! Or the stand by "have a gooOne" Last I checked I am they one handing them money for a product that they are selling. That should elicit an appreciative thank you. Managers: How about trying a bit harder in this department...?! read more

Reading some of the reviews for this Giant it really amazes how snobby a lot of people have become and how contextually stupid as well because a lot of the slings and arrows thrown at this store are simply not true. * In terms of price, if you think this place is expensive apparently you've never been to a Weis where the prices are regularly 15%-20% more than probably everyone in the Valley with the exception of their handful of weekly teaser sale items or the entire "restaurant" side of Wegmans where things like family size mac & cheese go for ripoff price of $11 yet if you got off your lazy ass you could make the same thing for a fraction of that number. * This Giant is miles better than the one on Union Blvd. or the one on Easton Ave. both of which are dirty and in particular the Union Blvd. location which is perpetually understaffed in the cashier department, at the deli and they have people in your way restocking shelves seemingly all day long. * I don't go this way but this store also has a Starbucks outlet. Do the other locations I mentioned prior have that or does the location on Linden Street have one....No! As for the rest of the "issues", I don't know because honestly I don't see it based on the probably dozen times I've been in the store. The layout makes sense, the staff is normally helpful/friendly and usually there is always someone there ready to bag my stuff even if I really don't want that but none the less it's still a nice option for those who do, the scanners in the self check out area work great and I've yet to have a price issue on an item that I needed to have corrected. This isn't my go to Giant (pity) as it's a bit far for me but overall it's not anywhere near as awful as the axe grinders would have you believe. read more

I was totally shocked at humanity today, waiting in line in the handicapped lane, which I am. In front of me were people with full carts just ignoring the handicapped placard..disabled people get that not by choice, me I know I dont want the privilege. Finally I chose the self service aisle. Meanwhile the cashier never blinked! Afterwards I went to the customer service counter and asked the two girls working there to please point out one person in that line that was handicapped, I got a sorry for my efforts.... read more

Only had 3 items to purchase. Self checkout line was 20 deep. Decided to go into a regular line with only 2 customers ahead of me. Second customer discovered she had damaged her eggs, which were carefully stored at the bottom of the shopping cart beneath mounds of groceries. Had to wait nearly 10 minutes for her to walk all of the way back, check for undamaged eggs, and bring them to the front. What made this worse was the cashier never even gave an apology for making us wait. The store was super busy. In the good old days, customer service would have run to get the replacement and shortened the waiting time. Perhaps having more cashiers would have improved the situation for all of the customers waiting in line throughout the store. Wake up Giant managers - driving an extra 10 minutes to another store might be worthwhile for some of us. Always disappointed with this store's service and quality. The only positive is the convenience of shopping for groceries when I am in Hellertown. The staff is typically oblivious to customers, particularly in the customer service and self checkout areas. Miss the good old days when the customer's needs were anticipated and gleefully fulfilled by smiling, intelligent staff. read more

The redeeming factor of this location is the larger organic aisle compared to others. In sadder news, the produce is always awful. Thank goodness we have a farmer's market in town for several months of the year. Staff is normally pretty surly. The front desk hates me because their pricing is always wrong and I make them fix it (what a horror!). Unfortunately, since it's the only game in town, it's where I shop. I look forward to farmer's market season, and I use Wegman's near my work to fill in the gaps. read more

I shop here ONLY because it is convenient and NOT because of diverse selection of merchandise, competitive prices, impeccable fresh produce or attentive customer service. So the price I pay for convenience means I tolerate, only when necessary, cashiers who fail basic customer service tenets. They don't know how to say thank you. Instead, I get a "here you go" with my receipt of $80. Instead of a customer-focused greeting to acknowledge and welcome my presence in the store, I am privy to a three-way conversation about all things inane with another cashier and a bagger. The so-called produce is mediocre, at best and is entirely overpriced. While the goods are arranged in an appealing display, the quality and flavor of many items are sorely deficient. And whatever system the store uses to manage dairy items consistently demonstrates an inability to project inventory to keep the sheves stocked. It's a problem that no one seems to want to fix. I've shopped at other Giants closer to my work and they all perform better on many criteria than this store. My hope is that Wegmans comes to Center Valley soon! read more

Beyond rude, I think they scour other grocery stores for employees who are rude, do not like to bag groceries, and act like you aren't there while they enjoy laughing in the front of the store. I understand that there is no greater pleasure on earth than "not working" at work, but come on! At least try. The bakery is bad, everything tastes the same. read more

Apparently this grocery store is pretty much the only show in town. Huge volume of customers. Management knows it too and is virtually immune to all criticisms, as pointed out by other reviewers. The store is understaffed, the shelves are poorly stocked and the staff that is on duty have that "Not My Job" attitude when seeking help. The Giant in Quakertown is far better and the staff in Plumsteadville, does go out of their way to be helpful, although the store itself is below par with other Giant stores. read more

The worst store for sanitation. Most of the time there aren't even wipes to clean the carts yourself.

Management has their heads up there ass. Some of the cashiers are great and others, not so much. Do not ever trust their electronic coupon system. They tell you come in and get this free, then you check out and half of the coupons don't work. Total scam. They never have enough shopping carts, and one time one of the men that was collecting the carts ran into the back of my foot and didn't even apologize. Meat department manager is rude. Store is run down. It really stinks living in a small town with only 1 grocery store. Shoprite could teach this store a few things. read more

This is my local grocery store and I enjoy it. I love that it's open 24 hours! I love how they have the machine by the deli so I can order my lunch meat and continue my shopping. I think the bakery has a nice selection and when I had to order a cake (which was very good) the staff was very helpful! I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about when it comes to bagging.. I WOULD RATHER bag my own, but every time I go some one is bagging. Haha! read more

Unfortunately one star has to be made. Did an online pickup two days ago. An hour before pickup, I get a call that they are out of everything, but three items because the store was extremely busy today. What's the point of an online order if you are not going to pull items to full fill the online orders. I understand what's going on, but then shutdown the online ordering waste if time. Go to Aldi, Wegmans, Weis even Walmart if you have to. read more

PEAPOD sucksssssssss. I didn't get seven things in my order. I got no pizza rolls and my baby sister did not get her yogurt melts. She was screaming her head off. There is NO SUBSTITUTION OPTION! If they do not have it, you do not get it. Some of the workers are rude, but some of the cashiers are super nice. Shopping inside is not always awful, but peapod is the worst. I shop here often because it IS the only game in town. When I have time, drive to the shop rite on freemansburg avenue - great store, FRESH seafood with FRIENDLY employees. The are many issues with the Hellertown giant and I believe they don't need to care because if you live in Hellertown, you don't have choices. Last time I was in there the woman who waited on me in the seafood dept. could not have been more nasty - what is wrong with store that it lets these employees get away with this! How I wish another market came to town. read more

The supermarket is still a disgusting dump outside. I just complained to the manager that there is trash all over outside right outside the doors and the employees throw their cigarette butts all over the ground and nobody's picking them up ever. This Giant Food store had gone through a rebranding and I have noticed a lot of things has changed. The prices have improved greatly and is now more competitive. At times, select produce come up cheaper than the new Shoprite in Beth. Township. The layout of the store has improved too, including cleanliness and staff is a lot more helpful and friendlier. They have a good selection of organics and vegetarian brands, the hot foods section has been better as well. There's a Starbucks inside the supermarket and that's a HUGE plus as it is the only one close by. The closest next would be at The Promenade Shops or the one inside Lehigh University in Southside Bethlehem. I find myself shopping here quite often now than I ever used too! read more

Bottom of the Barrell as far as grocery stores go, their produce is disgusting for lack of a better term. You have to sort through quite a bit to find a decent onion or head of lettuce, and yes this includes avoiding the fruit flies. Their deli, meat and seafood prices are on the high side, and you really have to watch the stuff on the shelves for expiration dates. I usually drive the extra 20 minutes to goto wegmans for my weekly shopping. read more

These people really need to rotate stock, every time I go there the food is either expired or a few hours from it. I can't count the times that I have purchased meat opened it and it smells rancid. Meat is waaay too expensive to buy and have to toss it and then scramble to find another thing to cook. read more

This place gets five stars for the bakery alone! Compared to other grocery store bakeries, this is king! Make sure you get the Heath Bar cookies and the Reeces Peanut Butter cookies. Cannot wait to try more! read more

I moved to the area about three years ago and to my dismay Giant has monopolized the area so it's the only place to shop. I often drive all the way to Easton shoprite for larger loads just to avoid this place. Giant is expensive. The same item that's on sale at ShopRite for 99 cents will be 2 for 5 at giant. On top of that, the produce is almost always rotten or on the verge, the meat and seafood is often old and slimy, the fish counter closes around seven so I can never make it there after work, items are always missing from the shelves. I mean they know they're the only game for miles so I guess they don't care but I sure care when I spend an arm and a leg on dinner ingredients and get home to find the pre packaged salmon is rotten and the red pepper has mold on the inside but looks perfectly fine on the outside. I never thought I'd write a review for a grocery store but this one is so bad I had to. read more

3 yrs. ago my family moved to PA. Looking for a grocery store that would give us the same quality food with the same quality care that our grocery store back home gave us. At first Giant wasn't bad. I wasn't working when we first moved out here so I could go during the day when it was slow. Once I started working and had no other choice but to go on a Saturday or Sunday I quickly realized that this store needed a great deal of help with customer service and quality care. The cashiers were rude and unhelpful. I had to bag my own groceries because if I left it up to the cashier I would have my bread in with canned goods or my eggs in with the bleach. When I would complain about the horrible service I would get some lame excuse from the managment team that they were incredibly sorry and they would speak to their cashiers. Over the course of the last 3 years I don't think I have seen the same cashier more then once. Many times I have stood in line 5 deep with only 2 lanes open. The management team(the ones in read vests) standing around chitchatting with eachother. I have learned my lesson for the last time I was there my 9 yr. old daugher noticed how rude the cashier was. She even asked why he was in such a bad mood. He couldn't even stand up straight while waiting for me to pay. He couldn't have been more than 17. Not only did I have to bag my own groceries, I had to RE BAG the cashiers because he had put 12 pieces of canned goods in one of their flimsy bags. Giant may have the cheapest prices around, but it shows in the quality of workers they have. I will no longer have the pleasure of driving 15 minutes to go grocery shopping, I will travel into Wegman's to get great prices and great customer service! read more

I used to live in Hellertown, and was at the store at least 3-4 times a week, loved it. now I have moved and trying a different Giant in Easton. I'm not nearly as pleased. I still drop in there 1-3 times per month. read more

The stores fruit prices are higher than any where else. The meat prices are out of this world. I go to B&M in Allentown and get big meat orders and Giant can't come close to the prices. I guess they think they can charge what they want since it is the only grocery store in hellertown. I spend so much less at that store because of the prices that now I read all store papers in the saturday paper and now go where I can get cheaper prices. read more

I like this store out of most the giant i have been in. I get stuff from bakery a lot and it's good I don't like the farmer markets around here never anything good I find better stuff here I would spend a lot more if I go to Wegmans or price right, I use a lot of coupons and in store coupons as well. read more
