(Michelle is a sweetheart) Their latest evolution has been to offer a pretty extensive sandwich menu and to collaborate with Pappy's BBQ. And I'll share more about that later. I was frequenting this place (weekly) to buy lunch meat and other breakfast/dinner meats (bacon, chicken, burgers, steaks, etc). But their hours have changed yet again (used to be open at 9am, then that changed to 10am, then that recently changed to 11am) so it's harder for me to go there when they're open. They do sell quality meats and various other groceries like veggies, milk, and bread. I had tried their food when they first started offering burgers and a few other sandwiches and pizza. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed by anything I tried and so I just stuck to buying groceries from them. Then came their collaboration with Pappy's BBQ, which introduced a more robust sandwich menu along with a BBQ menu. Well, one day I was getting lunch meat and heard about a half dozen people ordering various chicken sandwiches. My interest was piqued. A day or so later I had a chicken parm hoagie to-go and wow. It was huge and packed with flavor. I recently ordered another one and I'm here to say, its awesomeness was not a fluke. $15 for a footlong chicken parm sandwich that has plenty of wonderfully seasoned/prepared chicken, a tasty sauce, and sufficient cheese (you can never have enough provolone/mozzarella) - all packed in a tasty mancini's hoagie bun. It's worth every dollar. Chicken parm is my favorite type of sandwich and Elluingers chicken parm hoagie, in my opinion, is waaay better than Goodfellos, and decidedly better than Aviva Brick Oven. That is no small feat in my book. Aviva has been the standard for all things Italian in our house. And while they still own the throne for pizza, they've been dethroned for chicken parm sandwiches. So in conclusion, it might have taken a while, in my opinion, for Elluingers to find their sweet spot in terms of serving hot foods, but I think they may have found it! Stop in, and give them a try! If nothing else, get some quality groceries from a friendly family-owned/run business.

This weekend went in for their Brisket sandwich; a low-quality sandwich regardless of the price. It was served on bread with same texture as Town Talk bread, one side was toasted the other was mush. There was barely any brisket on it. The coleslaw was the size of a condiment to-go container; think of filling a container of ketchup from other restaurants. For your knowledge, there are several other options right on Main Street to try. I would be more than willing to pay more for better quality.

The chicken is delicious and you can taste the difference in quality in the beef, pork and other meats. My favorite thing about Dave's is their willingness to cut a smaller portion for roasts and also if there is not a cut on display they offer to get what you request. The freezer wrapping is just the finishing touch on the reason Dave's shines when compared to other stores in the area. We saw a nice assortment of beef, chicken, pork, turkey, kielbasa, bologna, burger patties, raviolis, vegetables, prepared salads, breads, pies, cookies, packaged grocery items (e.g., chips, nuts, and sauces), etcetera. We took a number to get in line for the deli meats. We chose a meatloaf, chicken salad, maple sausage links, and chicken patties. The total price was $30. I'm from Texas and my wife was born and raised here in Beaver Falls so one would think she would have piped up early on in our relationship about an old school butcher within 10 mins of our house that raises their own beef and sources many (...and I mean MANY) types of meats. They are highly accommodating to the small buyer (i.e. not ordering a 1/2 or whole cow or pig), yet they will allow you to provide your own cut sheet for a whole animal. They have smoked meat options, they have stuffed goodies (mushrooms, hot/mild peppers, pork chops, chicken breasts...probably more but I can't think of them at the moment), they prepare holiday meats for you (i.e. turkeys/hams/lamb/others), they have pies, they have soup bones, they have sauces, condiments...did I forget the bacon? Yes! They have all kinds of sausages, offer "bone in" and "boneless" of every cut you can imagine. If you live nearby and are a dyed in the wool carnivore as I am, you should kiss the ground and thank the big guy above that you live near this place. My various grills haven't been the same since I discovered this place...we be grillin' and smokin' ALL the time. Pre bagged chicken breast in the blue bags as most of the time, filled with breast that have clots. Understandable a machine is weighing it out and sealing the bags. I want to see with my eyes what I'm purchasing. It's known 10lbs of chicken breast is discounted. But only if it's the pre bagged ones. Which I've had multiple times where I asked to have a human bag my 10lbs of chicken breast to make sure there's not blood clot chicken breast bc that is a waste of time and money to throw it away or have to take it back to get it replaced. Nope Owner didn't care to hear any of that so I had to tell him we will be finding somewhere else. It's a shame truly how these companies are. Patronage means nothing when it should. Especially for little shops like this.
