Very nice people! Sometimes lines are a little slow, but I'll put up with that if the staff are friendly!!

My review is based on how a specific incident was handled. I am typically a big fan of GFS…read more(although I usually shop at the Strongsville location). I bought a few items, one of them being a 3 lb bag of cooked, cubed, frozen chicken meat. I took it home and let it thaw in the fridge and opened it the next evening to make chicken salad. When I opened the bag, it smelled rancid. Really honestly terrible. I scanned the bag for a date and I saw '10202016'. WHAT? It was Christmastime.... this bag expired nearly two months ago??!!! I was furious. This was really disgusting and a huge safety hazard. Not to mention that I was preparing a meal for 45 people and didn't have any time to start all over again with a new bag. So I called the store and spoke with a young man, who, while polite, did not handle the situation very well. I told him what transpired and asked him to check the remaining stock to ensure there is no more expired product. I would be in momentarily to exchange the bag. (I also asked him to leave it out so it could start to thaw. You know... my time crunch) I arrived at the store and the young man brought the bag over to me and explained the date I was was a package date. Again, WHAT????!!! WHO LABELS LIKE THAT? Most dates on food product are sell by, freeze by or consume by dates. Not package dates. And if you ARE going to print a 'Packaged On' date, you should at least say that next to the date! Turns out, the chicken was probably fine, I just wasted a trip for nothing. The chicken still smelled quite gross to me, so they exchanged the bag for me regardless. A manager came by and seemed very annoyed and she said 'Well, you can keep your original bag, take this new bag... doesn't matter to me, but neither is expired'. Sheesh.

Place is clean, the employees are friendly and helpful. They still will slice the bulk meats and cheeses for you. Do your due diligence on prices btw. Just because something is bulk, does not necessarily mean you are saving money (other than less frequent shopping).

All the usual suspects got mentioned, along with this store that I just had not frequented before. The poster also mentioned their baba was wonderful. I have tried baba everywhere and was always on the lookout for some super baba. Flash forward six months and I have had probably 50 containers of the baba (comes in the 8 oz or 16 oz plastic containers). I have been hooked on their shawarma (both chicken or beef) and, for my palate, feels it's the best that that I have been able to find (yes, I am aware of two places close to here that posters contend is the best shawarma around). What makes it it me is that they include all the add-ons - lettuce, tomato, onions, turnips, cucumber, sauce, hot sauce if requested. Love that overly stuffed shawarma that is filled with everything. I feel the falafel is probably one of the top 3 in northeastern Ohio. I have bought their chicken numerous times and find that is excellent. It is fresh - good white color, not dark yellow. Dates listed are very current. Smells fine. Tastes fine. The store has a nice selection of your arabic grocery staples like pitas from Jasmine, pickled jarred products, dates, oils, fresh produce, refrigerated cheeses, etc. Shocking to see that no one has left a review for them in the last 3 years. Well I am and I highly, highly recommend you go in to check them out. Employees are plentiful. Prices are compatible to the other markets on Lorain Road. Oddly they do not appear to sell stuffed grape leaves, garlic sauce, hot sauce or items like prepared fava beans with olive oil. But what they do have, and the quality of it, more than makes up for a few of these items that I buy elsewhere.

It seems more South American, Middle East and south Asian but no chinese or Japanese products. I mainly came for the random food stall in the back. There was just one man running the whole thing and the operation honestly didn't inspire a lot of confidence. There were flies around and the guy's COVID mask was on his chin instead of over his face, both seem risky when your meat is sitting out on a vertical broiler. My friend and I still got a schwarma to go though given the good reviews on yelp. We were able to walk around the small market twice before we got our food but overall it was pretty good. The chicken was well-seasoned and a little dry but there's a generous amount of garlicky hummus sauce and pickles that added the much needed moisture and acid to the wrap. Everything was well proportioned and the portion size was satisfying for only being $7. Overall I can see why people like this place, it's definitely a hidden, authentic, and tasty place to grab middle eastern food. If you're the type of person that's cool with food cart level sanitation, this place is a decent place to grab a bite.
