I asked the owner about re-sizing my engagement ring since it was a little in the large side and I did not like the spinning. At first I was a little bit anxious about leaving my baby but the owner reassured me that it was ok. While I waited for the re-sizing, he even offered to take me to the workshop, explained the ring re-sizing process and showed me how they restore classic watches. I even got to try on my ring before it was soldered back to make sure the size just right. Really awesome experience, I will definitely come back.

These are employees earning salaries, yet they seem to forget the importance of treating customers with respect. In several locations I visited, the display cases were full of merchandise, but I was told repeatedly that the items were "for exhibition only." It felt misleading and dismissive. Because of this, I won't be returning to any Mayors store. In contrast, the gray market and independent jewelers offer much better customer service and actually care about their reputation and their clients. I prefer to support businesses that value their customers.

Their service is always impecable. Today I picked up a very valuable 22kt chain that needed a new closure. I was not surprised it was just as I wanted. On the other hand, last year I left a very valuable 22kt ring at another jeweler (on Ponce de Leon, north of Miracle Mile) and asked them to replace a lost pearl on it. I used them because I was doing business with an optician next door and it was convenient. The ring ended up being altered, having quite a bit of gold, I guess, shaved from it. When I noticed the ring was not as wide, of course they denied having done anything to it and I had no way to prove it. ...but I knew that ring like the back of my hand. Ive since found out some unscrupulous jewelers switch out diamonds, etc. I only wish I had taken my ring to South Miami Jewelers. The owners are honest professionals. First, I was completely disregarded by one of their associates, Fina, she looked at me walk in the store, she was with another costumer so I politely stood around waiting for her to finish speaking to them. Another associate by the name of Maura came out from the back and walked past us once again ignoring that I was standing there waiting to be helped by someone. Shortly after, I approached Maura and told her I was there to have an inspection on my ring. She said no problem and took us over to the computer counter. Maura took all of my fiancé's information in order to pull up the protection and warranty on the ring. After struggling for a couple of minutes to find it, she proceeded to look up and print out the sales receipt of when he purchased the ring. She handed me the sales receipt and told me that the number I needed for give for next time was on it. I was very upset because she gave me the receipt with all the amounts that were paid that day, I didn't care how much he spent nor did I ask her to give me a copy of the receipt. It was a gift, an engagement ring ... she shouldn't have done that without asking. Then, she proceeded to ask me for my ring after giving it to her, she put it on her finger, I found this extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. She should not have put my ring on her finger. At no point was my ring inspected, or looked at to make sure everything was intact and there were no issues. She simply took it and put it in a bowl of blue solution they had in the front of the store. After 3-5 minutes she took it out, went over it once with a tooth brush and gave it back to me. Needless to say the ring does not look clean ... it is exactly the same. I called the Manager Luis, and told him my concerns and voiced how horrible the whole experience was. He apologized and said he would speak to his employees and get that sorted. I'm not sure of this is true however I hope they do something about those two associates so other people don't have the same experience.
