The care from my doctors has been great. The scheduling department is so disorganized currently, that they need serious help. They have called me three times to tell me that they can't schedule me yet because my colonoscopy is too far out for them to get into the scheduling book. I don't know why they've called me three times. They've also messaged me through "Clara" and told me they can't reach me when they've actually reached me three times. To tell me that I can't schedule it yet. Then they mail me a letter saying they couldn't reach me. When I responded to that saying that I already knew they couldn't schedule me. I got another call. That's a lot of administrative time being spent on going nowhere and it costs all of us. read more

My hope for MS is the next generation turns out competent doctors, not consistent malpractice. My situation: I go in as a referral for chest pain, was referred to six specialists, had an MRI which was abnormal, called the office 4-6 times (five of which the nurse was on break and couldn't be bothered). Wrote "Klara," the fake robot site for help, heard nothing back, then received a letter in the mail stating my results were abnormal. No phone call. An e-letter. Anyone giving this place a good review either doesn't know better and thinks doctors are gods (most barely passed med school), or they have friends that told them to give them a good review. This was a Billing issue. When I checked in I was told my co-pay 45.00 so that is what I paid. Over three months later got a bill for another 40.00 and was told, I had been seen by a nurse to give me the results so there was another copay. They knew this before I went in, so either the front office or management staff is not trained well or they need more training. Either way they knew I was being feeling and what and who would be seeing me and they should have given me the correct charges. I would have told them to mail me the results and If I needed to have question I would come back. Next time I will be aware. read more

Recently had an Endoscopy/Colonoscopy at the Flowood location (Had a colonoscopy there in 2019 as well.) Dr. Underwood and his team are fantastic! They give you all the help you need and take the time to answer any questions you have. Not to forget what a great job the Nurse Anesthetist did! Drifting off to sleep while the doctor does the procedure and waking up like nothing happened is great! Definitely recommend these folks! read more

I went to GI this morning. Dr Williams is my doctor and was unable to see me. I saw her nurse. I needed procedures. The scheduler Sharon was just so awful. She was so rude and insensitive. I wasn't able to get a procedure until DECEMBER! Really I asked if I could get my procedure's at the hospital and she said NO. I'm going anyway. She needs to look for a job that requires no people skills. Maybe DMV. read more

I had a colonoscopy 11/2022. I did not receive a bill nor a statement from them via mail or email. Suddenly I start getting calls and texts from Frost Arnett collections only ONE MONTH after my procedure!!!! Gl had not even sent me a BILL!!!! I immediately got on the phone with Gl. The woman I talked with had a very nasty attitude and would not give me any answers other than "they mailed you the statement" on whatever date. I did not receive it. I then asked for a copy of the statement to be emailed to me so could pay asap. And she refused. She said it had to be mailed to my address. That makes ZERO sense. How about if you want payment, you send me the bill in whatever way I can receive it. Especially since mailing it isn't working. That simple. Long story short, I had to pay the collection company. A few MONTHS later Frost Arnett started calling me AGAIN. I got back on the phone with Gl, which was again a massive waste of my time. Keep in mind, I never received a bill for this "new" past due balance. These people are straight up not sending me the shit I need to pay my bills and then have the fucking audacity to send me to collections!! NOW I just got another text and call from Frost Arnett about ANOTHER past due balance. I haven't been to this place since 11/2022, what would l even owe on at this point??? Especially after 2 separate payments AND them (GI Assoc and Frost Arnett) verbally telling me I didn't owe anything else. I will have my next procedure performed out of the country before l ever go back here!!! They are not getting another DIME out of me! I have a lot of medical issues. I have never been turned over to collections for non payment! Because I have so many doctor appointments, l always make sure my bills are paid so that I can continue my care with my doctors. I'm at my wits end with this place. I'm reporting them to the CFPB as I type this and I'm highly considering contacting an attorney. read more

I have never written a terrible review in my life, and I've been reluctant to write a negative review about GI Associates just because I personally know a number of the doctors there or their spouses, but I feel compelled to say I had a terrible experience at GI Associates and would not recommend it to anyone. I'd been feeling bloated and gassy and extremely uncomfortable for a couple of years, and feeling that way seriously interfered with my quality of life. I went to GI Associates in hopes that they could figure out what was wrong. Dr. Runnells immediately scheduled a colonoscopy (prior to suggesting diet changes, etc. that would not have cost me thousands of dollars), among numerous other tests, and charged me upwards of $10,000 in total. After my colonoscopy, they discharged me with basically no explanation of the colonoscopy results or what they meant. I heard nothing further from my doctor, and they did not provide any fix to my problem. It was clear to me that all they cared about was make money off of me with little regard to whether my condition actually improved. To make matters worse, when I paid in advance for the colonoscopy, I specifically asked if the payment covered all charges associated with the colonoscopy and was told "Yes, you will not be charged anything further." That was a lie. I even wrote on the paperwork I signed before my colonoscopy that I only agreed to pay the amount I paid in advance, and I didn't agree to pay anything further. However, weeks after my procedure, I received a bill for $143. Then I received another bill for $90. I wrote back to GI Associates first, then to the third party debt collector after that, explaining why I did not owe them another $230 and requested that they cease all further communication with me. However, the third-part debt collector - Frost Arnett - continued to send me harassing letters over a measly $230 which I refuse to pay as a matter of principal because I don't owe it. Over the past 15 months, I've probably received 12-15 letters either from GI Associates or Frost Arnett demanding $230 when I've already paid them twenty times that for no results whatsoever. As an attorney, the letters don't intimidate me, but it is ridiculous and harassing that they continue to send them, and their continuing to send them is a clear violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. If I receive one more letter, I'm reporting them to the CFPB, and I might sue both of them. read more

I saw Dr Kotfila and he was great and the procedure went fine but past that I can't say anything good. I have a high deductible so I set up a payment plan. I have paid more every month than what I had agreed to and I still got something saying that if I don't pay the rest of the bill in full I will be turned over to collections. I have talked to more than one person about this payment plan and the last one I talked with says she sees no notes saying one has been set up. Every person I have talked to about this payment plan has been extremely short and rude. I've never been treated like this before when I'm making payments monthly. Most people don't have that kind of money to shell out at once. I will never use GI again. There are plenty of other places to go read more

GI Associates is the biggest group of crooks and incompetent "medical professionals" in the entire state. I had a stomach issue going on in 2019 and 2020 that I was occurring quarterly, causing severe diarrhea for several days at a time. My doctor at the time referred me to GI Associates to find the cause of this issue. They proceeded to do a colonoscopy, endoscopy, hydrogen breath test and a scan of my liver, all in January of 2020. All these test were extremely expensive even WITH my health insurance, and came back with no results or conclusions except they noticed I had the starting of fatty liver, which has no impact on having diarrhea. They were so overbooked with their testing rooms on the date of my hydrogen breath test and liver test that these tests were completed while I was sitting in the waiting room, calling me back periodically to record "results" and then sending me back out to the waiting room. The nurse even said that they normally would have an individual room for me to sit in while completing these tests, but they "over scheduled" themselves, resulting in me having to stay in the waiting room for a few hours while trying to complete these test. This is because all Gi Associates cares about is making money hand over fist, without concern for the patients health. I never was able to have a follow up meeting the with doctor who performed because of COVID occurring before my three month follow up, but fortunately I found a new doctor (Nurse Practitioner) who determined that what I was most likely dealing with was Irritable Bowel Syndrome. When GI Associates did have a follow up meeting with me, instead of it being with the doctor who performed the colonoscopy, I was scheduled to see a doctor who only wanted to discuss reducing my fatty liver. They booked me for an additional follow up visit with this same doctor without my knowledge and then tried to charge me a no-show fee when I didn't come in to that appointment. I fought that situation and they removed that fee from my bill. But when I originally had all of the tests in January 2020, I set up a payment plan to pay off the nearly $6,000 in debt that I had to pay out of pocket. I paid $200 or so dollars a month through 2020 and 2021 on a payment plan that included ALL billing (doctor, facility, etc). I paid it off on full in July 2021. NOW... eight months after I paid everything off IN FULL, they have pulled another charge out of thin air saying that I haven't paid $481. This charge is no where to be found on my payment portals, which show a $0 balance on both the financed accounts for the doctor and facility charges. When I received a notice a few weeks back of this made up expense, I called and spoke to an arrogant and unhelpful individual who said I was wrong and kept wanting to read me what "I still owed" even when I told her numerous times I had paid off this amount. After arguing with her for several minutes, she transferred me to an individual who I left a voicemail for and haven't heard back from her since. It's been over a month. Now, I just received another text today from GI Associates saying that I still owe the remaining amount of $481. I refuse to pay this and want proof from someone that this is a legitimate charge, ESPECIALLY after I set up a payment plan for all expenses, paid it off over an 18 month period of time, just have a mysterious "unpaid" balance to appear over 24 months after the procedures were completed. I say all of this to suggest that you should not use GI Associates for anything and I recommend that you ask your doctor to refer you somewhere else. These folks are crooks who will try to continue to get more money from you any way that they can, even after they provided ZERO help in determining what was going wrong with my stomach. I am giving them 48 hours to return my latest call before in turn this over to my attorney. read more

These physicians only care about money and not the well beings of their patience. My sister has short time to start treatment. The office called less than an hour before her appointment saying she has to reschedule her appointment Monday 4 days from now because the liver tech has a medical Emergency, due to her being overly pregnant. If you are at a stage where you are unable to work, take a leave or something. Pregnant or not medical treatment can not wait for some people. Not to mention the fact they don't want to deal with patients who are unable to pay fully upfront, don't have insurance or don't have a certain type of insurance. Pathetic. Just over 10 years ago I went in for a regular colonoscopy. My life has not been the same since. Chronic diarrhea, protruding bulge just above my navel that hasn't gone away and total loss of self confidence. I had to quit my career because of the problems. Just getting to a live person on the phone is a joke. First you get to choose from a list of 25 options and told to push a number on the phone for each. When you do select a number, then you are put on eternal hold and have to listen to a very nasal voice that keeps repeating that "call volume is very high at this time" and that is the message no matter what time of day it is. After about 15 or more minutes of being on hold, someone answers and then transfers you to another number which you are put on hold again. Then you get a voice mail where you must leave a message. This place is not worth the effort. Go some where else and save your sanity. read more

I have had issues after an esophageal dilation from another doctor so I wanted a 2nd opinion. I explained this when requesting an appointment from GI Associates. Dr. Brannan was the most unprofessional rudest human being I have ever dealt with in healthcare. He spoke to me so demeaning and crude right in front of my 12-year-old daughter. I had to walk out to keep from getting angry with him. Newsflash: these cell phones have recorders!!! He stated I put him in a tough position coming there. I'm concerned for my health. People get 2nd opinions everyday! If GI Associates doesn't want to give 2nd opinions, why did they make me an appointment? Dr. Brannan could have simply stated he didn't want me as a patient, he didn't have to speak to me that way. I'm also needing a doctor for colon polyps and diverticulitis. Today my son and I were suppose to have our very first appointment with Dr. Rippel at GI Associates. At, first everyone was so nice and friendly. Once we got to the back the tech was rude and we waited to see the doctor for 40 minutes. Once the doctor did come in the room she barley stepped in, looked at my son, and walked out and never returned to his room. After waiting an additional 30 minutes we were given another appointment for a different time, day, and doctor the reason has yet to be explained. We were looking forward to this appointment to get further assistance with my son's GI needs. I was definitely disappointed. read more

Me and my husband have used GI Assoc. for years and have always been pleased with everything until a couple of years or so ago. I went in for a wellness colonoscopy and they coded it as diagnostic instead so I received a bill. BCBS said all they had to do was change the code but they refused. I had no issues with my care...Dr. Cindy Haden-Wright was wonderful and so was the staff and my medical experience. I'm not one to complain but the billing experience was awful. I received a letter telling me I was banned from their entire group "because I was unhappy with their services", which was untrue. I tried calling to talk one on one with Dr. Haden-wright, but either they didn't put me through or gave her the wrong information because she never called me back. So I wrote her a letter explaining this and thought there must be some misunderstanding somewhere, but she never wrote me back or called. I had a health issue not long ago and called them to see if any of the drs. would be willing to see me but they still refused. Conclusion, great medical experience but don't ever question your bill or you will be banned from the entire group. read more

I was referred here after going to a clinic for issues concerning reflux and tenderness on my left side beneath my ribs. My first visit left me feeling like I was in good hands. They scheduled a CT scan and endoscopy. The CT took place in March (awesome radiology tech btw!!!) and the endoscopy at the end of April. I was told just a week or two to get results for my CT... I wasn't given the results until they were putting me under for my endoscopy. And it was you've got an enlarged spleen... not too worrisome... want to check on it in 3 months. So back I went in 3 months after receiving my results for my endoscopy (which was basically it's gastritis and it isn't caused by this or this.... but we don't know what caused it so we won't don't have any suggestions) The second CT results did come in faster, but again there was no sense of urgency or attempt to explain them beyond it looks much better, we will see you in 6 months. At this point, I've yet to even speak to the doctor again. I asked if I should make an appointment to which I was told, you can if you want to. When November was coming to a close, I realized no one had reached out to make the next CT scan so I called in to schedule it. They got in within the next week, which I will give them kudos for. They always schedule quickly, and I never have to wait long to have the procedure done. Again, the results were delivered in a timely manner, but this time the manner of delivery was sorely lacking. Basically, I was told my spleen was holding stable but they were concerned about the number of nodes in my abdomen so they were referring me to Tammie Young. My response was, who is Tammie Young. Oh, she's with oncology. And that was it. When they called back to schedule my next appointment with them, I asked for more details about my results and the nurse read them directly from the scan. No empathy at all. And when I asked if this had been a concern from the first scan (9 months ago) she replied that it had been. If I could do this all over again, I would ask to be sent anywhere but here. read more
