this might be a bit lengthy. I travelled from Ontario Canada to be with my son in Mississippi where he goes to school on a baseball scholarship. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues go on at the airport and was unable to get my rental vehicle that I paid for. The purpose of my trip was my son was getting elbow surgery. I'll start off by saying that Dr. McCraney was incredible and I was very happy with the staff team. But being in Flowood, Mississippi was not easy without a vehicle and following my son's surgery. I needed to get to a pharmacy to get my son's post surgery prescriptions filled. After his surgery every Uber and taxi company I contacted was either more than a 30 minute wait or $70 because they were out of the area. The reason for my lengthy message is I want to acknowledge two nurses, Beth and Carrie. When I think of southern hospitality, I will always think of these two incredible individuals. Even after a long day at work after my Sons surgery, and aware of our situation, they drove my son and I to two different pharmacies. Beth even came into the pharmacy with me to help me out with the prescription while Carrie tended to my son who was still coming off of anaesthetic. Once our prescription was filled, these ladies dropped my son and I off to our hotel. No reward, no money, just plain kindness to my son, and I who would have been stuck paying and waiting for transportation. I wish there was more we could do to repay Beth and Carrie for their kindness. But I at least wanted to take the time to write a review about the kindness I experienced at capital ortho. And certainly a reminder that humanity still has hope. I'll always remember the date when two nurses drove all around Flowood, Mississippi for two Canadians stuck in the middle of nowhere. Dr Turner Brown is a good man, a great doctor, and a fantastic surgeon. Of all the surgeries I've ever had, the hip replacement surgery was the best. it's hard to imagine that you can get the biggest joint in your body replaced and be up walking around afterwards. The first 2-3 weeks was the only downside, if you can call it that, it's more about impatience to get back driving etc. I'd let him operate on me any day of the week. Highly recommend. read more

Brian in billing hung up in my face the next day.He said I was being hoppy and he didn't do it. Yes i was upset. But i wasn't rude. I wasn't upset with him. I was glad he answered. Why he took it so personal is baffling. He is so rude and unprofessional. He could have easily transferred the call if it was something he couldn't handle. Dr Kellum did my ankle surgery and did a great job. Tanya his NP is absolutely the best!!!! I have been to CO five times now and never, never waited longer than 10 minutes to get my call back and no more than 5 to see someone. All the staff, from the front to the back, are exceptional. read more

It seems like I'm always in need of an orthopedist. On two different visits to Mississippi, I've had to seek out an orthopedist. Yep, that's the kind of luck I have. I can't even travel without needing a doctor. LOL On both occasions, I've used Capital Orthopedics. The first time I had trigger finger. I was seeing an orthopedist at home in Jacksonville for the problem and he was giving me injections in my hand about every 6-8 weeks. When I visited MS, my finger locked up on me again. I knew I just needed another injection b/c it was something I had been dealing with for a while. I came here hoping I could get an injection because I still had 4 or 5 days left in MS and I didn't want to spend the time with my finger hurting and completely locked. Well, they got me in the same day I called, but I didn't see a doctor, I saw a PA (Physician's Assistant). Since I didn't have my records with me from FL (who carries those around with them?), they took x-rays. I explained the problem and what my doctor back home had been doing. She refused to give me an injection saying I'd just have to wait until I got back home to FL. What?? So yea, nothing was done. it was a complete waste of my time and money. I still don't understand why she refused the injection b/c my doctor in FL had only taken x-rays to make the diagnosis. When I returned home, my doctor said he didn't understand why they refused the injection. Based on the above visit, they should receive 1 star, but another trip a couple of years later led me to them again. Back in MS visiting for 3 weeks, my right knee locked up on me out of the blue. My daughter too me to the ER, they did x-rays, scheduled me for an MRI the next day and gave me the number of an orthopedist to call for an appointment after the MRI was done. The orthopedist they referred me to was Dr. Thomas McCraney at this office. Since I had such a bad experience here before, I didn't want to return. I called a couple of other orthopedists in the area and none of them could get me in, so I was basically forced to come here because a doctor who you are referred to from the ER is required to get you in. Ok. Whatever. I played along and made an appointment here. Dr. McCraney was able to see the x-rays taken in the ER and he had my MRI results. He diagnosed me with arthritis in my knee. Dr. McCraney is an older doctor and is very nice. He talked to me for quite a while..... he explained what arthritis is, what I'd have to live with, etc. He told me there was nothing I could take for it other than 800mg of Ibuprofen. So, I left here crying and thinking I was going to be in this kind of pain for the rest of my life with my knee constantly locking up on me. I return to FL and I see my doctor. Not an orthopedist, just my internal medicine specialist, and find out there's this awesome non-narcotic medication called Mobic I can take once a day. Once I started taking it my knee pain was completely gone after the first 72 hours and my knee hasn't locked up again. This was 2 years ago. Why couldn't Dr. McCraney have told me about this little miracle pill? *shaking head* 2 stars because Dr. McCraney was very sweet and did at least give the correct diagnosis. But I do hope I never have to come here again. In the future when I'm visiting MS and something orthopedic happens that they can't fix in an ER, then I'm just going to wait until I can get home to FL and see my own doctors.... doctors who I know I can trust. read more

Dr. Kellum performed an ankle fusion on my husband in Dec. His pain level went from a 10 to a 2. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Kellum and highly recommend him. The staff is friendly and very efficient always willing to help patients that needs assistance. read more

We went today for my husband to see Dr. Kniep. We were under the impression that he would be receiving the Rooster Comb injection (bc that was what we were told at our prior visit). We get there and they won't do it bc they don't know if insurance will cover it. Well, our last visit was a month before so they had that time to try to find it out. If they would have informed us we would have worked on it. It's so frustrating when you are paying an outrageous amount of money through insurance and medical bills for them to not value your time any more than they do. I will say that the receptionist was very helpful and I did feel like she cared. read more

I have had two total knee replacements. They were both done by Dr. Michael Dulske. I have been completely satisfied with my results. Dr. Dulske is an excellent surgeon. I would like to say a special thank you to Klay his NP. She is always very helpful and caring. Also the staff are very kind and willing to help. I highly recommend Dr. Dulske and his staff to others. This is a rather unpleasant facility, with a too-small waiting room and insufficient facilities for the disabled (parking too far, no help in getting in, etc.). Hard to find-- long skinny building on small lot. Reception is behind plastic security windows. One bathroom (waits common). Impersonal, rather cold staff. It's like the Wal-mart of medical facilities. And, the doctors vary from borderline incompetent to very good, so be sure you know who you want to see before you go. read more

It was very interesting to see that the previous reviewer also had a trying experience with Dr. Tom McCraney. I, too, had an unexpectedly dismal experience there. Dr. McCraney has practiced in Jackson for many years. Having heard his name, I was pleased to be scheduled to see him when I called to see a doctor about what I believed was Planters Faciitis. I went to the appointment and filled out the requisite paperwork. The last page was a disclaimer calling for me to sign away any right to sue the doctor if there was a problem. It mandated arbitration, etc. I have seen similar documents before. This one, as with the others, included a choice not to sign the paper. I chose not to sign the paper - not because I anticipated any problem - it was only pain in my foot - not something that would require difficult treatment or surgery. After I turned in the papers in the receptionist called me back to the window and told me I would have to sign the paper. I told her I had chosen not to sign because I had the option not to sign. She told me (in the hearing of everyone in the waiting area) that if I didn't sign, Dr. McCraney would not see me. I was shocked! I asked if that meant he would not see me at all - under any circumstance (again, thinking about the small problem I had) - and she replied no, he would not see me. I could see another doctor, but that would require getting another appointment. As it had taken three weeks for the first appointment, I knew I would be waiting - and in pain - for some time if I chose to see another doctor. Given that choice I agreed to see Dr. Tom McCraney and signed the paper. I suspected that everyone knew that I had initially refused to sign as soon as the nurse came to call me back. She opened the door - called my name - and said nothing more until I reached the door. (I had observed her chatting and smiling with other patients as they were called back.) When I got inside, she pointed to a doorway and told me to stand on the scale. After that, she again pointed to the door and told me to go to a room down the corridor. At the door to that room she told me I could sit in either chair - wherever I felt I would be comfortable. (The chairs were exactly the same.) Then she said Dr. McCraney would be with me soon. He arrived within a few minutes. He came into the room, said hello, and followed with - I understand you didn't want to sign the paperwork (about arbitration). I told him that was correct and that the paperwork had stated that I had the option not to sign. He spent about fifteen minutes explaining why he required all of his patients to sign. He was very clear about his reasons - and very clear that he would not bend. I told him I understood his reasons, but felt my privacy had been compromised because of the treatment I received by the nurse. I told him I was very aware that the nurse knew about my refusal - and I did not believe it was appropriate for my personal choices to be discussed by the staff. He countered with the position that his receptionist needed to let him know if there was a problem. I told him I didn't necessarily agree (because I did, indeed, sign the paper), but it was not necessary for everyone else to know. He said they all took care of each other there. He ordered an x-ray - and, once again, my treatment was very cool. Come in here - stand on that platform - place your foot there - get down and go back to your room. The technician was very terse and there was no "small talk" that might normally take place as she was positioning the xrays, and aligning my foot, etc. Dr. McCraney came back in and verified that I did have Planters Faciitis. He explained what that meant - why it was painful - and how it could be treated. Since my foot was already improving (because I had found some exercises, etc., on the internet and had been doing those) he didn't recommend anything else. I can't take anti-inflammatory medications, so he told me to take Tylenol and keep stretching the tendon. That was it. All in all, I wasted my money and was treated badly in the bargain. read more
