Now they've moved to Summerbridge near Harrogate, which is about a 45 minute drive from Leeds. This has pros- such as the fact that there is now room in the store for more than a hand full of bikes. And cons - the fact that it's miles from anywhere. Still a really excellent place to buy bikes, components and other mountain biking kit - they stock some top brands including Santa Cruz, Niner, Orange, Scott, Trek and Ibis and they have a lot of built up bikes in the store, which is pretty unusual for someone that stocks so much top-end equipment. The only place that compares is North West Mountain bike centre, but that's in Cheshire and it's not as easy to find stuff in that store as it's split across a few rooms, a bit like Stif used to be before it moved. If you've got the time and transportation or you're in the the area for some other reason - there is a lot of riding out near Patley Bridge so that's a good reason in itself - then go and have a look.

We wanted to rent two bicycles to ride to Kendal, and since we were staying in Bolton-le-Sands we…read morepicked this shop. We arrived at ten and both the owner and his wife were nothing but lovely. They got us kitted out with two sturdy bikes, two helmets, and two locks for only twenty pounds total. Considering that the amusement arcade in Morecambe charges twenty pounds per bike this was an amazing deal. We had a very long trip and had to walk several hills, but at the top of each we were surrounded by the breathtaking scenary of the near-south-lakes. We arrived in Kendal after three hours, enjoyed a nice lunch at Farrer's, and had a long trip back via national route six. I called because it looked like we wouldn't make it back in time and the owner let us bring the bikes back in the morning. I will definitely hire bikes from here in the future, and I will always remember this trip.

Not too good for buying mountain bikes, but OK for lots of other things…read more I've been into The Bike Shop on Crossgates Road quite a few times over the last few weeks as I have been in the process of buying bikes for myself and my fiance. It's great for the casual cyclist. However, and it's quite a big however, they don't have that much choice of manufactures and they don't have a lot of bikes out on display. For example, they only had Specialized women's bikes built up and in the store. Their other relatively high-end manufacturer is Kona and they have some pricing issues at the moment as most people will be aware. On the plus side, the staff are extremely helpful, and they have a very good selection of kids bikes, BMX and commuter cycles. Although we bought our bikes elsewhere, we did go back to this store to purchase a car rack and a fair few other accessories and they were really helpful showing me how to set the bike rack up on my car.

They had 2 bikes in the store to suit our price range but the staff were worse than disinterested. We couldn't pry the information we needed out of the member of staff. We went back on the internet and found the Bike Shop on Crossgates Road, Leeds. What an amazing experience! A massive range of quality bikes. The staff are so helpful and can't do enough for you. I can highly recommend The Bike Shop, we need 2 more bikes next year and will definitely be going back. A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

Real ale trail Lakes line…read more I must admit I have not been on this trail but it is on my to do list. I thought if I wait to a attempt this trail then a lot of people would have to wait years to hear of this recommendation. All pubs are in walking distance from the stations on the Lakes line apart from the Watermill Inn at Ings. with Kendal it is possible to slip into the castle and take in some history. The Brewery arts centre and the river Kent can also be enjoyed. If into mountain biking then the Kentmere valley and the Windermere lake cruises are also an option. I've been here a few times, particularly in the summer due to the outdoor seating area offering a fab view of Newcastle Quayside. The Hub offers bike hire and repair facilities as well as providing fortnightly social bike rides! What draws me in is the fab little cafe as I'm a sucker for homemade cakes (yesterday's choice being the caramel shortbread)! Always served by friendly faces and although the service can be a little slow in peak times, it is worth the wait!

Bicycle! Bicycle! I want to ride my Bike!…read more This place is a very cool bike repair/rental shop. Connected is a cafe! A very popular location for bike gangs to meet up. The chapters gather more heavily on the weekends. The cafe inside has a great selection of food and drinks! Sodas, waters, juices and even BEER! I had the "famous" bacon sandwich... Skeptical as always when people call something famous. It was really nice. Lovely fresh bread! The bacon came from a pig with a nice personality. I'm curious about the other food they offer. Will return.
