On March 18th of this year, a bright sunny day, I decided to take my Vette out for a lunch meeting with my daughter and grandchildren, ages 8 and 6. We went to the Olive Garden in Monroeville. My grandchildren love the Gnocchi Soup! During our lunch it was my two young grandchildren that commented about these guys in the parking lot (4-5 guys) all with blowers walking through the parking lot blowing debris everywhere. It was my grandchildren that said, "hey Pappy, do you think their going to blow this stuff on your car"? My granddaughter got up and ran to the window to look out at my car and at that point there was no one around my vehicle which was strategically parked out of the way, but in the front row of the parking lot. Meanwhile getting back to family time, we enjoyed eating our lunch. It wasn't until exiting the restaurant that we noticed a team of blower toting men walking the front row of cars (Olive Garden patrons) and trying to blow off mulch and debris from the patron's vehicles, and these Ghostbuster type guys were heading directly for my Vette. You can imagine my despair. As I beelined it to my car the Ghostbuster team dissipated like a fire drill except for one Lamanna Landscaping employee, or who knows, it could have been the owner, Dino Lamanna. As we met at my Vette, he promptly stated, "Look, I told everyone to stay away from your car as this is very expensive". I advised that it doesn't look like anyone listened. He said, "I'm a car guy so I know how you feel". ( If he were a true car guy, he wouldn't have allowed it to happen). I told this Lamanna employee that they need to be doing this kind of work at 7am, not when the business has a lot full of patrons! Total disrespect for personal property and Olive Garden's patrons. No comment from him. I was not going to have any further conversation with this ridiculous fellow. In addition, during the time Lamanna was blowing mulch all around, it had snowed (flurries) which melted on the cars, making the paint surface of the cars wet and the mulch stuck to the car paint. You most likely know, mulch stains everything it touches. I took photos of the car and then went in to speak with the Olive Garden Manager, Steve Ross. Steve walked outside with me to observe the situation. Steve was appalled at the situation, and he telephoned Lamanna but had to leave a voice message. My understanding is he didn't receive a call back. I then escalated the situation to Olive Garden's General Manager, Nick Orbison. He too was appalled when he saw the photos of my car. He reported the incident to Oxford Development Company who did reach-out to me but ultimately directed me back to Lamanna. I telephoned Lamanna and left a detailed message. No response. FYI, this isn't the first time a car owner has called Lamanna out for disrespecting personal property. A true demonstration of arrogance. I find this quote from Dino Lamanna, the owner of Lamanna, to be disingenuous. "We also believe that "Word of Mouth" advertising is the most effective kind. However, we realize that it only comes with customer satisfaction, and so our entire team works hard to exceed all customer expectations by providing unparalleled service in the Pittsburgh area". To all of you true car guys at Steel Town Corvette Club, Three Rivers Corvette Club, North Pittsburgh Corvette Club, Cars 'N' Coffee, BMW Car Club of America, and Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, if you see a Lamanna Landscaping truck or employee, stay clear. They have no respect for your private property.
