Horrible, shady business. I would give negative stars if I could. I canceled my service at the end of December after not having had my recycling picked up since right after Thanksgiving. They told me the receptacles would be picked up "in the next few days." They did not pick them up until the second week of MARCH. Here's the shady part - on their website, they owed me a refund. The refund was deposited into my bank account on March 11th. On March 12th, they send me a text message saying I now owe them the EXACT same amount that was refunded to me. WTF? I made a screen shot of the refund owed to me because I knew they would try some BS like this. F@$K you GFL, I will be filing a BBB complaint against you for shady business practices. read more

The most inconsistent garbage collection company that has ever collected my trash. Also have never had my garbage bin end up in my ditch laying sideways, literally ever. Until GFL bought out the company we were using and started quite literally not caring at all. After the snow storm the past couple weeks they promised to "pick up any extra bags you may have accumulated" Yet I got home the other day to the same "extra bags" they said they would collect literally scattered around the bin as if the truck driver just absolutely did not care to get out and collect them. I had to fish the bin out of my ditch and put the loose bags back in it myself. The worst service I have received from ANY company during my 25 years on this earth. Finally had enough. Was a GFL customer while I rented a home. Originally a one-year lease, plans changed and we purchased a home and terminated our lease effective at the end of the quarter. We, naturally, also terminated our GFL trash and recycling service effective at the end of the quarter. The services had already been paid for at the initiation of service at the beginning of the quarter. After informing GFL that we would be terminating service, they failed to make recycling pickups each of the final three times the recycling was due to be carried away. read more

Awful. They often skip our service with no notice. Our service days are Thursday and when they miss I've often called them on a Friday or Monday and they've promised to come by Tuesday. SEVERAL times now, they have not come on Tuesday after agreeing to. I've been managing this office for only a month and this service has been nothing but frustration since day one. They seem to CONSTANTLY be running behind. I'm baffled as to how you can get so behind that you completely skip service for a week, with false promises that you'll come by soon. I'm over them. I won't dwell on the issues with missed pickups, but my main concern is the rusted container and the garbage being dumped on the ground, with the container being placed on top. I've requested a non-rusted container twice and asked that any dropped trash be picked up. This situation has led to an increase in predators on my farm, posing a threat to my chickens, which are prime targets for foxes and raccoons. Just last night, I had to chase a raccoon away from the hens, managing to corner it so my husband could take care of the problem. The garbage on the ground also attracts flies and mosquitoes, and when it rains, the decaying trash contaminates the groundwater, which is detrimental to the environment. If this issue isn't resolved immediately, I plan to report that GFL is disregarding both customer satisfaction and environmental health to every relevant agency. read more

The company routinely skips the weekly trash pickup, which is the one thing they are getting paid to do. Customer Service promises to have someone come get it to correct the problem, but that doesn't actually happen, so the trash sits on the curb until the following week. read more

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. First, the company will sneak in charges and raise prices without telling you. So naturally we decided to go with someone else and save money, we called and canceled the account, they charged us anyways and tried to say they don't have any control over canceling the account because the " systems don't talk to each other ". FYI the head quarters is based in CANADA. We tried to get written/ email response and they refuse to do so, we have no guarantee we will get our money back at all. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. We signed up for weekly trash pickup. Over three weeks GFL could only muster the ability to pick up one week.

2.5 months into a 3 month term for trash and recycling and they quit picking my trash up. I called and they said I was on a credit hold and had to make a payment when they had never even sent me a bill. Ultimately the woman hung up on me. I called back the following Monday to hear that she had cancelled my service. They don't really hold themselves to the Wilmington standard. We will be switching to Wall. read more

I would not recommend this trash service to anyone. The customer service for the Wilmington and Castle Hayne area is awful. The staff is very unfriendly and could care less for your business or if you are unhappy with the service. read more

Literally the worst trash service we've had in 14 years of marriage and 5 different houses/areas. They are not service oriented at all. When we first started with them, they apologized that they couldn't get us a trash can for a week or two. They told us to leave all our trash and moving boxes at the front of our yard and they would do a special pick up. They came and left everything. When we called, they said they would never have offered that to us because boxes are recyclable! 3 months ago they ripped a giant hole in our trash can with their truck grabber. They said they would immediately replace it. A month later my wife called and they said they never said that. Another month later I got a text to leave our trash can out a day early so they can replace it. They never came. I cannot stress enough what a horrible company this is. Do not use them. read more

I recently switched from GFL to another carrier because their rates continue to increase, and I was able to obtain another carrier at a more reasonable price. when I contacted them today, they told me I was billed for services through May. I kindly advised them of my cancellation and request a refund for service from today through May since I was no longer using them. they told me they can't provide me with a refund because they do not prorate their billing cycle. that is so unethical , I'm not asking for reimbursement for past service, I just want to be reimbursed for future that I no longer need. This company doesn't deserve 1 star but that was the lowest I could give them. Trash service is horrible. Trash doesn't get picked up when it is supposed to. I went almost two weeks without a trash pickup. When it wasn't picked up on Wednesday. I called and was told it would be picked up by Saturday. I called Monday and told them that it still wasn't picked up and that I wanted to cancel the service. They then said that it would be picked up the following day. They also said that the trashcan would be picked up also. I called on Thursday and then was told that they were two weeks behind picking up trashcans. I was to leave it out at the curb until it could be picked up. I live in a HOA community and that it definitely a violation. I was given the run around from the office. I paid for 3 months in advance and couldn't get a prorated refund when I cancelled after two of those months because of the horrible service. The person who is the office manager Melissa Locklear doesn't care. She said that I could call corporate but that they would probable send me back to her. GFL doesn't care about reviews! They just want your money. I didn't cancel the service because of this one episode. this has happened more than once. read more

They recently went up from $135 to $150 for service. Today was supposed to be garbage pickup and recycling pickup. Our across the street neighbor also had her bins out and hers were both picked up. They only took our trash and not our recycling. Considering our bin was 20 feet from hers I doubt it was because they didn't see it. Would not recommend. We will be changing our service. Why pay more so people can't do the one job they have? read more
