I'm in here having a back fusion. This is my third back surgery in three years. This has been the…read moreworst. The hospital is very busy, which is fine and acceptable....it's a hospital. However, as a certain Drs patient, I am supposed to be on the third floor. They are private rooms, which, with all the movement loss I have right now is perfect. Unfortunately, they "overbooked" (says the nurse) and I am now in a semi private room on the fourth floor. They moved one person out at 11 pm and then moved someone else in at 3:30 am! My husband was offered a cot to sleep on the first day, however, two days, later he was told he couldn't have one due to it being a semi private room?! I started this review on the 12th in hopes that thing would improve. It started with three stars because, none of these things were ever an issue. One bad visit can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE. We were then told if he wanted a cot, we'd have to move to a private room, which were all taken. That he was more than welcome to sleep on the couch in the waiting area. It's a decent walk for me, seeing I just had my insides ripped out and thrown back in.
I WILL NOT be returning to this hospital. If you're planning a surgery, I suggest making sure you plan it like you would a hotel room and make sure you can get a private room. I drove two hours to this hospital because this is where my Neurosurgon does the surgery. So, I didn't have much of a choice. You would think, after me telling them (yes each dr and nurse) that we were from two hours away, they would understand the need for not only myself to get decent sleep but my husband as well. The need for a private room after a spinal fusion is a NECESSITY! I can hardly move around my room without bumping into something, putting me into more pain and NO, I'm NOT overweight! Not to mention again, we weren't from the area, like a ton of other patients, that could easily leave and come back!
There was one very rude nurse a rude tech and a Dr I didn't care for or even know who the hell he was, at that, though this whole bs ordeal (one had the nerve to ask who the man with me was and continued to treat him like shit after I told her her was my husband if 17 years!!) however, a special thanks to nurses/ techs Felicia, Marcela, both Amanda's, Ken, Shelby, Sarah and Lindsay, for making my stay somewhat comfortable. These employees are the reason I am giving this hospital 2 stars.
As I finally got to walk around, my husband took me to a very nice but busy cafeteria and as always an overpriced with cute stuff gift shop. The fourth floor is under construction, hence the box fans in the hallways and rooms, because it's ridiculously hot.
As for the rest of the staff, with the exception of the nurse, tech and Dr. they were extremely polite...from transporters to Physicians they were on it.
