This is an update. I talked to a gal named angel, and billing seven weeks to two months ago. It…read morewas a difficult phone call. She gave me the runaround for the better part of 30 minutes. My insurance representative was on the line also, and was able to ask several important questions. I got charged a co-pay for a doctor I never saw, $45. My insurance covers co-pays. And when it doesn't, the co-pay is $25. That is for specialists. Why can't UnityPoint treat patients the way businesses treat customers? If you're charged erroneously, buy a business such as Lowe's, all you have to do is talk to a person to get it straightened out. But UnityPoint wash me to file an objection and mail or fax it to them. Why? Anyway, Angel finally agreed to file the objection herself on the authority of her supervisor. Here we are seven weeks later. I called them back today and discovered that the objection was never filed. I was lied to. What is wrong with these people? I'm 71 years old, living on Social Security, have had a productive life and contributed to society by serving in time of war. I am a combat veteran with PTSD. Beyond that, despite the PTSD, I was able to go to school, get a degree, and work as a hospital nurse for decades. I was a pediatric nurse. Now I'm retired and living on Social Security, and I'm treated like dirt by UnityPoint. Needless to say, I no longer go to UnityPoint. I don't appreciate being robbed by my healthcare provider.
