Avoid at all costs! They track your location without any mention of GPS or location tracking in their terms. Our first trip was fine but on a trip this weekend, the low oil light went on Friday morning (picked up the car Thursday night). Reached out to the owner and the service and waited on hold for the service for 20 minutes. Didn't hear from anyone until Saturday afternoon when the brake light went off on the highway. Don't know whether I'm more upset about having a car that was illegal and dangerous to drive for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or the fact that they were tracking my location (they referenced how much I drove the car Saturday in a customer service email) without stating so anywhere in their terms or requiring my permission. This company/app is a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

Super convenient! I have a parking lot near my apartment in downtown that always has a selection of vehicles to rent for the day, or longer, for a very reasonable price. Getaround ends up saving me money since now I don't have to pay car payments, or for a parking lot, or car insurance etc, now that I'm not commuting. Great service all around. read more

Thanks getaround for letting someone steal and trash my car. They also used a fraudulent credit card to rent it. A day 3 trip turned into a week and a half nightmare. These people also stole my stroller in the trunk and dumped the car in a parking lot. Getaround keeps giving excuses as to what they're going to do to help. Instead of retrieving the car, getaround continued adding time to the trip. Shitty company. 0 stars if i could. Their policy sucks, their retrieval policy sucks and when told the car was basically stolen they refused to admit that and assumed it would be returned. Well, it got towed back and is trashed. one positive thing to mention here is there are customer service who work for you 24/7 with very little wait time. I have used twice, whenever i find any difficulties, they support in providing a solution and make the day. Since they have started as a new , there are lots of scope of improvements but they are learning quick in providing proper services. 1. Insurance - Getaround covers the insurance of the rental car 2. I tried this and I was amazed the cars was pretty good Hyundai elantra accent or something I think 2016. So I signed up with UBer and offered me 12 hours free. Paid for by Uber. And so I. That time I used it for Uber I made $213.27 from Uber rides in one day which was helpful in light of some of my speeding tickets.. So I called Getaround a couple times for customer support a couple times and they were so RESPONSIVE every time so they get 100-% for customer service. In the beginning for the key I couldn't find , in the middle to ask about extension time which I extended for 1hour, and at the end I called again to drop it off correctly. Each time customer service was really helpful but, a little long wait time to wait on the phone but after that once they respond. Their customer service is stellar. Kudos n top notch! read more

This is the first review of any kind I have written on the web and I am doing so because of the appalling conduct of Getaround. I booked a car 10 days in advance through the app for me and my friend. Since she did not have Facebook but would be driving, we signed in with my account and provided her name and license information. The booking was confirmed and my credit card was charged. Less than two days before our trip I received an email from Getaround saying my rental had been cancelled because the license did not match the Facebook account. We could have promptly provided the additional ID verification they required, but Getaround neither outlined this policy prior to booking nor in the proceeding week and chose to inform us of this issue only after abruptly cancelling our reservation. At this point there were no more cars available in the New York City area for less than three times the price of our original car and at far greater distances away. As a result we had to cancel our weekend plans. Despite immediately cooperating with them to resolve the issue, Getaround offered no recourse or refund for their negligence. Additionally, Getaround responds to these reviews requesting we DM them, which is not an available service so it conveniently allows them to not have to follow through with assisting. read more

This car rental place sucks. There is no parking attendant at the garages. This is the second time this has happened. It is supposed to be a 24 hour spot and there were no attendant at either place. I am super unsatisfied and it is unprofessional and inconvenient for us to have to look for a parking place. We should get the price reduced for this inconvenience. I don't use any other service anymore! Get around makes the process seamless and private. The cars vary in price and type but it is all quality ! If ever I did have a problem the service was prompt, fast, accurate, and they always take care of me! In fact, their customer service is so excellent that I was parking my get around labeled car today at the supermarket and a nice blonde lady asked how was my ride. I answered " Great!" We spoke while we walked into the Acme during which conversation she told me she worked for Get around. Unbelieveable! I don't know what Bush League Amateur operation that these people are trying to run. But prospective customers (especially black people) do NOT enjoy being told that they are under investigation especially when they complied with the app's rules. They ask for a picture of my drivers' license, And for the back so they can scan it, and I'm told I'm under investigation and they want 2 more pieces of identification. Coincidentally, one of my white friends had no such difficulty. Reaching their customer service phone line is a chore, these people said that they would call me back in 48 hours, it took them close to 72. Perhaps a phone call to the Better Business Bureau might yield me better results!! read more

I really like the entire experience that I have with the Getaround folks. The app is great, there are always affordable cars available and the cars are in convenient locations. Admittedly, there have been a few issues that have occurred but the customer service has been prompt and courteous in assisting with any concerns. At first I was excited to learn about this car sharing service. I can find cars close to me, 24-hours, for less than a normal rental company. Then I used it a couple of time and each time the car I used was more disgusting than the last. Filthy windows and no windshield washer fluid. Literal gunk in the cup holders and other car storage areas. Boxes of half-empty fast food under the seats. An empty bag of marijuana in the glove box! People rent these cars but then don't clean them up--can't even take their trash out of the car--and then you get the car next! Instead of cleaning them, some people load them up with car fresheners so you get a car that smells like moldy pizza, weed, and old-man cologne. So disgusting. Do not use. Pay extra for the rental companies that clean and maintain the cars. There's a reason why they're more expensive. No one from customer service nor any of the car owners (or owner--as just about ALL of the cars in NYC are owned by the same person, how is that possible?!) have ever responded to my messages about the status of the cars and then when I rent the same car a month later it's more disgusting than before. The saying "You get what you pay for" is perfect here.  I used getaround three times. I will not be using them again. read more

If your car gets into an accident, good luck trying to get answers and who knows when it will be fixed. Mine was towed to a shop near the accident site and it was almost auctioned off because no one contacted the shop until I did a month later. Customer service is useless, they tell you what you want to hear and nothing is actually getting done. Almost two months later, my car is still in the shop that it was initially towed to and no one from Getaround has had any contact with the car! Very unhappy with Getaround. read more

Dirty cars. Horrible customer service, they will never reply to you if the issue is serious. Every time I turn on a car the gas is low or the check engine light is on. No one is holding the car owners accountable. Takes forever to unlock/lock cars through app (they say its because my Bluetooth isn't on but its always on). Twice already have I rented a car and gone to the parking lot and the car isn't there. They then put me in another car close by that was literally a clown car. Reading other reviews in a way is kind of comforting because at least I'm not the only one literally hating every second I have to use this app. read more

Really horrendous customer service. You need to get a phone number to call in emergency situations and when the app glitches up and doesn't allow you to call for Help. On 3 out of 5 occasions I had an issue and 2 of those I had no way to get in contact with Getaround and was late to my important appointments as I had to start from scratch when I was stranded at parking garages!!! SCAMMERS WITH WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! It's unfortunate that Yelp doesn't allow for 0 or negative stars, because that's what Getaround deserves. I was interested in making some income from an extra car I own but don't use. After speaking with one of their young slick sales guys who projected decent earnings, he convinced me to put my car on the platform. But once you're on the platform, that's when the nightmare begins and you're left to deal with the worst customer service in the nation, probably on par with your cable provider or worse. Below are all the negative points I experienced. No, there are no positive things to say. 1) Underwhelming Revenue: The monthly sales were nothing near their projections, so don't believe them. If I did a full year, I'd be making 1/5 of what they estimated. 2) Poor Safety: They don't take consideration of safety of your vehicle with all the branding and car key left in the visor. After one month, my car window was broken into and key was stolen from the visor. They don't take accountability for this and offer a couple hundred bucks which leaves me to pay several hundred out of pocket. And now I have a valet key instead of a remote key. 3) Abysmal Customer Service: Customer call wait times over the phone average about 20-30 minutes. I'm always stuck with an outsourced agent from the Philippines who communicates poorly and I can barely hear on a staticy line. As I'm writing this review, I've been on hold for 27 minutes with Getaround! Ridiculous! And the slick sales guy said there's a fast, dedicated line for those to rent their vehicle?! B.S.! 4) Drains your Battery: Two months into the service, my car wouldn't start. I later discovered that the Getaround Connect device constantly drains your battery! Therefore, I had to get it towed to an auto store, so I could go buy and install another battery, replacing my 3 year old battery. No sympathy from Getaround, just more hoops to jump through. 5) Parking Tickets: My car was returned by the renter on a street scheduled for street cleaning the next morning, so I naturally received a ticket. Getaround doesn't care. You have to pay this out of pocket and file a claim, which takes forever and is a nightmare with customer service. 6) Renters Cancel: Renters occasionally want to cancel their trip, so they text me asking me to do something. Of course the website and app sucks, so there's nothing I can do to help. 7) Low Gas: Renters naturally don't always fill up gas all the way like they're supposed to, so after consecutive rentals you're left with a half gas tank, because no renter feels responsible to fill it back up. Getaround doesn't care, unless you can prove exactly who did it, at what time, by how much and other ridiculous requirements designed to discourage claims. 8) Car will get Trashed: Beware that when you rent your vehicle on Getaround you're inviting your vehicle to get trashed. People on Getaround treat your car like a Hertz rental car and leave trash everywhere (e.g., snickers wrappers, spilled soda, glitter, receipts). And of course Getaround doesn't care, because it's all covered by their fine print. 9) No Accountability for Damages: Over a four day period during the holidays of consecutive rentals, my car was left dented and scratched along the bumper and side. Of course Getaround gives me the runaround for 3+ weeks via email and phone, because they don't take accountability for anything. They are just trained to site standard policies and ignore you in hopes that you don't pursue. For example, you're expected to check your vehicle after every trip? Well what if you car was returned at midnight and rented again the next morning at 9am, which happened to me?! Well you're out of luck in terms of claiming anything. 10) Non-transparent Expenses: They provide the lamest, most minimal earnings reports, which don't break out line items of credits, reasons for expenses, etc. They also shift credits and commissions and earnings between months, which causes more confusion. OVERALL: I had one of the poorest experience with a ride share company ever. The customer service was poor, their accountability was poor, and their earnings projections are poor. If I made the 10-15k per year that they projected, then maybe I'd put up with their crap, but in 4 months I've lost several hundred dollars. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! read more

We had been reading about Getaround's success and one of the girls was recently at an event where Jessica Scopio spoke in Ottawa, so we thought we would give this whole car sharing thing a chance. Our girls' weekend went quickly south and we lost a few hours we'll never get back. Thanks for that. After getting excited and arriving to the first car, we found out it had a dead battery. These things happen, right? We figured we would use Getaround's wonderful customer support that they promised when we signed up. Annnnnnnd that's where things went terribly wrong. I could not understand half of what the first person I spoke with was saying because their English was so horrible. I tried. And before you think I'm upset at that person, I'm not at all. This was a problem created by Getaround and that person is probably lucky to have a job. I get it. But as a customer who waited over 10 minutes with a group of girls waiting to find out what to do next, it was more than frustrating to have to call back. And guess what? The same thing happened. The woman I spoke with could speak English marginally better, but was obviously inexperienced and had to keep putting me on hold, then I got disconnected. Seriously, Getaround? We figured things out and got an uber because we no longer wanted to rely on your shoddy support. As someone in the manufacturing sector, I understand very well the financial benefits to offshore outsourcing, but only when the quality matches the needs of your customers. Maybe I found the only two who should not ever ever answer calls on behalf of your company again, but I am doubtful. When I call Amazon, I get someone in North America. I am always relieved to get someone who I have confidence will understand me clearly, and give me equally clear guidance and reassurance. There are companies that I avoid simply because I cringe at the interaction with their outsourced and overseas customer service. Getaround is now on that list. Folks, save yourself the grief and do not rent from this company unless you know that everything will go right and you won't need their support in a time of urgency. What's that? The worst I've ever encountered EVER, they put you on hold for a while then hang up on you and when you ask them questions there favorite line is "sir I don't know" The guy that works there by the name Rodrigo is the worst customer service rep ever with no experience what so ever !! I asked about my account all of a sudden stopped working and all he told me was call in 24-84 hours and that he does not know why, that was the response I got after giving them a detailed explanation on what was going on! How does this happen, 24-84 hours I can't even take his statement serious because excuse my language he sounds like he pulled that right out his a*** !! NOT RELIABLE ! Waste of money, time, and peace of mind. My husband booked GetAround thrice but in none of the instances got to actually use the car. The first one was a street parking car but there was no car at the location. Spent more than 40 mins to find the car but to no avail. Even GetAround staff wasn't able to locate the car. Had to shell out almost $100 to reach the desired destination. In the second instance, a week advanced booking was cancelled just a day before we were scheduled to take it. Determined to make a good use of our weekend, we tried to book it again. Luckily, found a car close to our location but NOT to our surprise, received a call within a few minutes that there is no car at the location. Wasted a good weather weekend sitting around because we relied on GetAround. Wonder if anyone has ever been able to use their services. Atleast they can keep their app updated if there is no car available. They don't even deserve a single star. read more

I used Getaround for 1 trip after I was offered a $50 credit. Then the worst nightmare happened. I received an email 4 weeks after I rented the car for nine hours stating that I owed one thousand dollars as a damage fee. When I told the agent that I did not cause the damage she told me that they conducted a thorough investigation and that it was evident that I damaged the car. I was repeatedly threatened with collections if I did not pay the damage fee. Luckily I called customer service and spoke with Paul. He actually listened to me and offered to investigate further. Within five minutes he found pictures validating that the damage existed before my trip in October. The damage was shown in photos back in August. He followed up with me frequently and sent an email to the agent saying that he found evidence that I did not cause the damage. It is because of him that I did not have to waste $1000 on something I didn't do. If you need anything speak to Paul he is the best customer service agent I've ever spoke to. After this whole ordeal I suggest taking pre-trip photos and a video. The app does not require after trip photos but I think it is necessary so make sure to include those as well. read more
