While looking at the other shoes I left the ones to return at the cash register. In that time the manager, Sam thought he would take it upon himself to "scrub" my shoes clean because they looked like they had been worn. Due to this he then informed me my only option was to exchange the shoes for another size and pay the difference. (He let me know this part but never told me the shoes were 'dirty' or that he 'scrubbed' them.) My daughter ended up not liking the fit of the smaller size so I went up to the front to return all together or even for a giftcard to order some online since this store basically has no youth basketball shoe section with any ankle support. While upfront I was expected to know they were dirty (even though they have no evidence of wear other than no paper inside the box it was shipped in.) When I was confused because this wasn't communicated to be by Sam by the shoe section, he came up to explain it further. And by explain I mean he spoke like I was a child and not a grown woman needing to return shoes so I could buy MORE shoes from this company. He proceeded to show me the evidence they had been worn & the wet spot from where he took them and scrubbed them to 'do me a favor'- which I gave no permission for. In the end I was told there was nothing he could do and that I could leave with the too big shoes or buy more expensive ones and pay the difference. I will never be shopping at this location or any other location. The professionalism and manner in which this was handled & how I was treated was embarrassing for this store. Looking at the shoes with a flashlight & outside you can see a very small area that if you angle the shoe just right you can see it. And honestly who knows if it was there before hand or done when Sam was handling my shoes & cleaning them. All very shady.

A recent experience at the store was very disappointing because they failed to put proper pricing…read moreon products. I picked up an item that had an on sale sticker on the shelf below it. But when I went to pay for it, it rang up with the original price. I addressed that with the manager and he said that it was not his responsibility that some items not on sale, would get placed with the wrong sale item. I found him very disingenuous and failed to give any consideration for his customers. I asked the girl at the cash register to call up the manager and she said just go back and take a picture of it. When I got back there, I was ambushed by the general manager, who informed some things get moved and the price didn't apply to the product sitting above it. I believe that the general manager could use some training when it comes to his customers and not wait to ambush them at the location of the product. I consider this to be a bait and switch tactic. They were hoping the customer wouldn't notice the change in price at the register. Therefore, I would give them a very low rating and now I know why I don't do any business with them. Be careful when you buy something from Academy. If you don't watch them, they will steal your money at the register.
