ZERO RATING: POOR WORKMANSHIP This company was hired to replace soffit and fascisl in August 2021. October 2022 some of the soffits blew off during hurricane Ian. Contacted them in Oct., Dec., and several times in Jan 2023. Someone finally reached out to say the material was bad. I informed them that nothing was wrong with the material. The next call the person stated that the force of the wind blew them off. I informed him that we were outside in the wind and rain. I told him the soffits came down due to POOR WORKMANSHIP. He asked me have I ever installed soffit. I informed him I have, because my father built house. They offer to come back out and give an estimate to repair their work. Lol read more

We decided to hire Get Coastal Exteriors Inc To replace our 20-year-old roof shingles. I have been a buildings trade contractor for close to 30 years, and I am as apprehensive about hiring contractors as anyone. In my opinion, it is companies like this that made it difficult for good contractors to establish trust. We had Nick, the salesman, for Get coastal out for a price quote; we also received two other price quotes. Based on the conversation and the promises and expectations communicated through their representative, we made a decision to go with this company. They had an opportunity to measure my roof and give me a quote. We did not have a time-plus materials contract. It was a straight quote price to do the work. The first thing they did was try to increase the balance because they claim the roof was mismeasured. When I asked them to justify my responsibility for their inability to measure the roof accurately, I was told we don't know how much material we were going to use. Really? I thought I was contacting a roofing company. I made it clear to him I was not going to pay any increase, so take the job or leave it. The rep assured me his measurements were right and the increase requested by the owner or his boss was inaccurate. Either way, there was no ambiguity. The job started on time, and the gentleman working on the roof did, as far as I can see, a decent job. None of them spoke English very well, which makes it difficult to communicate on-site. Nick, the salesman, assured me that they would put a double layer of underlayment synthetic felt, which swayed me to go that direction as opposed to peel and stick. Being a contractor, I made sure we understood the definition of a double layer and marked x2 next to his verbiage on the contract. The underlayment material is 48 inches", in order to achieve a true "double layer", you would need to overlap by 24 inches. I've attached photos, the overlap was 18 inches. The bottom layer was utterly void of overlapping. When I brought this to their representative's attention, he was argumentative and insisting, I don't know what I'm talking about. Right away, that was a red flag. When I took photos and asked him to do the simple math, he had the secretary Sally who seems to be a very nice woman, call me back and agreed to correct the problem on the other half yet to be completed. At this point, I didn't see the need to do that as long as they would stand behind the job and give me the 25-year Golden pledge blah blah blah warranty at no extra charge. Sally agreed to that and said she would drop it off. I'm sure the owner Mike who seems to be pretty arrogant and condescending. He will likely jump in and correct my verbiage if he feels necessary, another red flag. The gentleman working the roof stuck bricks on top of my brand-new air conditioning unit and water heater and then threw a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood on top of that to keep the trash out. Great, I think that's a good idea to keep trash out but not at the expense of damaging my brand-new units. Photos are also attached. I explained the situation to no less than three representatives. It Simple and straightforward; provide me with the warranty so I have time to review it and resolve the damage issues. I was contacted over and over to explain once again what was going on. It's not my responsibility if they have communication problems, and at some point, I stopped. Just get out here and hold up your end of the deal. I will hold up mine, and we will both can have a nice life! Finally, I got a call from Mike, the owner. He immediately becomes aggressive and condescending, and when I call him on it, he only intensified the less than desirable personality traits. The tone is set by the leadership! This is what you can expect. He began to tell me how many roofs he did each day and how many employees he had and how he doesn't typically take feedback like this from his customers; he's too big and too busy, I guess. The bottom line is I'm writing this review to help the consumer who values the insight of my firsthand experience to parallel with the lipservice of their mission statement. This contractor of 37 years will never do business with this company again! Oh, by the way, he'll let you know that the state is very contractor-friendly if you are left with no recourse other than to take legal action. Another red flag! One star is too good for them... PS To add insult to injury. I forgot to mention that he accused me of damaging my own air conditioning unit. And bickered with me for 10 minutes before he agreed to pay for the damages. I absolutely cannot recommend this business! They were hired to find the source of a leaky roof three years ago. The portion of the roof they told us was the problem has been replaced two times at full price and still the same leak exists. Lots of damage and many employees coming out to look at it has not resolved the problem. They promised to fix it and then never call you back! The bottom line is we paid thousands of dollars and still have a leaking roof. They have literally been out 10 times to look at it and still don't know what's wrong! Get Coastal Exteriors was hired by my Grandmother to complete a roof repair in 2016. We contacted the company for a copy of the the warranty. After providing the representative (Julie) with information to retrieve the records, we were told that we would receive a follow-up call at a later date to verify the warranty details. After a week of waiting for a follow-up, we contacted the office again. This time we were told that they were unable to relocate the warranty records, since they had switched from paper to digital records in 2017. The rep also stated that based on our description of the work done to the roof, we would have only received a 1-year warranty as a repair warranty, not the 10-year warranty for a full roof replacement; but neither warranty would be valid due to Hurricane Irma in September 2017. This is when things started to get not only unprofessional, but unethical. We asked the rep to provide a sample copy of a 1-year and a 10-year warranty so that we could review the terms to understand the contract my Grandmother signed in 2016. The rep then stated that she would send the info via email. Once the email was received, we noticed that there were no attached documents, merely the following statement: "As per our conversation, since this was a repair and not a full roof replacement, there is a one year warranty. Also, hurricane Irma came thru our area September 10, 2017 which would have voided any warranty..." This was not what we had requested from the business. We called back and spoke with the rep again to clarify the request. This is when she refused to send a standard copy of company's warranties because she needed to review them first to make sure everything she'd told us was correct. We asked to speak with the owner. He sent over a copy of a one-page, 1-year warranty via a Word.docx file that had been created just moments before. We believe the roof work is still under warranty and this is why they did not fulfill our request. Yes I should have read the reviews before hiring these terrible contractors.. so Josh tells us 2 Supply the wood and he would install all the Woodforest ripping out the old wood installing the new wood with the tapered system as I write at the house no wood is removed my wood is still sitting in the driveway all they did was a tapered system they did a terrible job there's still puddles when they insist it would be absolutely no water no puddles on top of the roof the quality of the roof is garbage the shingles were the wrong color yes this is a scam company make sure you read the contract as they will change it on you but do yourself a favor hire a different company look at all the negative reviews they don't even have a one-star rating read more

We live out of state and were able to do a zoom call and go over our different options and by the following week they were already taking off the old roof. We recently had a roof installed by Get Coastal Exteriors - not to be confused with Coastal. They had installed a roof in our neighborhood and we were very impressed by their workmanship. Our neighbor was extremely pleased so we decided to use Get Coastal. We were overwhelming happy from start to finish. We were provided a professional presentation and we were included in the decision process down to what type of nails we preferred. Our new shingle roof also included metal accents. The work was completed in 2 days. They are not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. We highly recommend Get Coastal Exteriors and their great staff for all your roofing needs. read more

Beware of this company. They DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I was lied to on top of it. They actually prefer to pay a lawyer then to come fix the problem. We were told to fix it ourselves! Every time we pointed out a problem when they finally came to the house (four months of calling) they response was "If I was you..." I simply wanted the problems fixed nothing more! I have been in business for decades and I have never experienced anything like this. The owner actually yelled at me and excused me of wrong doing because I didnt contact him! But he was on vacation! The employees are trained to NOT to fix the problem but to stall until you give up. Please do yourself a favor and find a good company. I was talking about $1,000 fix and for them to remove my stone chimney off the roof per the contract! You can not put a metal roof up against a rock chimney without causing gaps.. metal is not flexible! So it caused water damage to my brand new dining room...they lied and said my dining room was old...it did not even have a ceiling yet which I had proof. I am taking them to small claims court. What a shame. They paid a lawyer to fight me instead of simply fixing the problem and get good reviews and me spread the word about the company. Very frustrating read more

Wanted to use a local company! What a mistake. Contacted them after the hurricane, to fix a few shingles and install a gutter. Was told 3 weeks to start and would take 2 days. After calling multiple times they showed up after 3 months . The two workers ( no manager) rang the door bell at 8 am and wanted to know what they were there for! They were for 45 minuets and gone! New nothing about gutters. After more calls was told the gutter crew was be there any day. The gutter crew finally showed up and it was a different company, they had subcontracted the job out and of course did not know what they had to do! Stay away from these clowns. We were very impressed with all phases of the project. The person who did the estimate not only went into our attic to take pictures (in August), but also went on the roof and spent 30 minutes up there. He then spent 40 minutes with us going over the process and exactly how the product would be installed. We were in the middle of the rainy season and they were nice enough to tarp where our leak was. The crews did a really good job on the install. The only reason for a 4 and not a five was the project took longer than expected from start to finish. read more

Company sent two crews out within a week knowing full well the property is a three-story townhouse. Neither crew had ladders tall enough to complete the repair. I called Jason, the sales rep, who told me to speak with Jeff, the scheduler. Jeff told me it was out of his hands and he would call Jason and someone would get back to me. I never heard back from Jason or anyone else for that matter so I called the office. Whoever answered the phone there placed me on hold for close to five minutes before the call was disconnected. I called back and the woman who answered said I would need to speak with Blake who was busy with another client but he would call me back in just a few minutes. That callback never came. I then sent a text to Jason asking if the job would be completed and he said, no, they didn't have a tall enough ladder. I told him to return my deposit and I will find another company. Lo and behold three days later another crew shows up and this time they had the proper equipment. Next business day Jason calls and says I need to send in the balance for the repair. He never even bothered to ask if I was pleased with the work. I said I would put a check in the mail. The FOLLOWING day I get a call from Jerry, Jarrod, whomever, I couldn't make out his name because he mumbled terribly... anyway he says there's a note that I was mailing a check... but it hasn't gotten here yet. It hadn't been even 24 hours since I assured Jason payment is coming. Two weeks to complete a 30-minute repair and a day later their shorts are in a knot. The more than 100+ homeowners in our townhouse community will not be getting a referral for Coastal Exteriors on my behalf. read more

This company is a hoax and very unprofessional. I had them contracted to repair our roof leak. They came and said they they repaired it. When the rain came it leaked and continues to leak to this day. They have been out 4 times and it still leaking. They have refused to come back to repair what was never repaired. We paid them thousands and didn't do what they said they would do. Stay far away from this company. I don't know how they still exist. All the roofers I let come and see, they all said there work was incorrectly done. All we asked is they do what they promise or give us our money back. read more

This is the worst contractor experience I had in a 2 year, 3200 sq foot, top to bottom house renovation. My last project was to repair the old shed out back, starting with the roof. This company arrived for an estimate with pretty matching shirts and shiny brochures. I found them on Thumbtack and saw they had 3 good reviews. My biggest mistake? GO LOOK AT OTHER ONLINE SITES FOR REVIEWS. Once it was apparent that I hired unskilled, untrained and totally disinterested people, I then thought to check online. Oh boy. Lots of unhappy customers, here. I was nice enough to allow a delay in 4 days on the start date because one of the guys was on vacation. When they finally did turn their attention to my job, they straggled in around 11:30 . Nice. The first decking had to be torn off because they had installed it so bad, my roof waved like Anna Maria Beach during a storm. No one working on it thought it was a problem. Some of the decking had 2 inch gaps where daylight could be seen, and some of it overlapped like bad dental work. They took all that back down and then decided to rip off all the trusses and throw them away and build new ones. Um, the trusses had my old decking perfectly inline and straight. Now comes new trusses they built. Badly. Out of NON pressure treated wood and this after we were assured pressure treated would be used. Nails coming through the decking to secure it to the trusses completely missed the mark or several pieces of decking. Bolts to secure the beam to the uprights were so far on top of the upright it would hold nothing. The entire job looks like a couple of high school boys did it and it's awful. The total lack of communication paired with the total lack of ignoring what we wanted and doing what they wanted instead was to say the least, frustrating. They talk out of both sides of their mouths just to aw shucks you along and they go do what they want to do and how they want to do it. It was surreal. I was just glad to have them finish and get off my property. After that, I got to clean up after them. Buckets of nails, half eaten sandwiches, plastic wrap, and tons of discarded cigarette butts adorned my lawn. And although I put yellow flags up on every sprinkler head so they would not be run over and destroyed, they managed to obliterate 2 of them and ran over a flagstone path against the house destroying 2 of those . I would not hire these people again to put a roof on a dog house. read more

The introduction to their crew and Business was very professional. They kept things at a minimum as far as trash and debris laying around. There was only one downfall I kind of not smiled at. That was the leaving on the second day of the job, just before the Thanksgiving Hoilday, and not letting us know they would not be returning until that Monday.We were told it would be a two day job, and it would be completed. When I saw they had stopped long before dark, I went out to see if they had finished. One of the crew told me the Inspector had to come out before they could go any further, then they would be back to do the rest.This was Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. When I realized that hadn't showed up Monday morning, I waited a couple hours, and called the office. The receptionist asked me to hold on, let her check to see what was going on, because she obviously didn't know they didn't show up. She returned to say they would be back to finish up and pick up the rest of what was left there that day. By the time they got here, it was 4:30 or so, not much daylight to go with. Only three guys came, and they finished up, and cleared up almost all of what they left. The next day the Manager came and inspected their work, and pick up the rest of their belongings. There wasn't a lot of chit chatting going on, just work, and they ate their lunch in my patio garden where their were chairs and a table, but left none of their cans or trash laying around. They used the garbage cans. I only saw one thing that looked off, and that was the nails exposed through the upper back side of the roof over the porch area. They looked too long, or they wouldn't have come through from the top of the roof. All the rest of the job is very satisfactory. read more

I had the SAME exact problem as Kerry D in Nov 2016. They had told me the roof was complete and when it rained the next day - damage ALL throughout my recently renovated two story home. Have still been battling them to get my deposits back - and they won't even refund the $1050 deposit on the 2nd home that they never even touched - and never will touch! WORST company I've ever dealt with. Mike lied about not disputing the deposit refunds but my bank read me letters to the contrary. Even their insurance agent said Mike was blocking the claims so said I would have to pursue legal action to get my money back "like the other lady!" Maybe that was Kerry D. Un-frickin-believable how anyone would try to run a business like that. The worst part was they tried to make their own employees repair all the drywall - they just covered up all the wet insulation and plastered over it and sanded without covering anything for my home that was staged for a renter to arrive that weekend. Needless to say I lost that renter which will be part of the damages my lawyer will demand. I had to hire drywall repair guys, deal with mold remediation, painters, and deep cleaners as the dust was EVERYWHERE. That poor employee has since quit and so has the sales guy that swore to me this job would go well despite their bad reviews. read more

As a result of an inspection for a home we were buying, the sellers used Coastal Exteriors for roof leaks for which they were charged $500. One area they said was an old and fixed leak, the other they supposedly repaired. After moving in the roof still obviously leaked in one area, we called them and a young man came and squirted stuff into a drip line and said 'it's fixed now' but was still leaking after the next rain. We then checked the attic for the other 'fixed' leak and that too was still leaking with rotten wood and mold. We took down the gutter and fascia in the other area which exposed a lot of totally rotten wood - a main roof joist, sheathing, wood behind fascia. What they did for the original 500 bucks I don't know but they're obviously incompetent. As a result, we're now looking at a huge repair bill done by another company, of course, which shouldn't have been our responsibility. Use Coastal at your peril! read more
