I bought my Alexander Wang boots and Gucci Princetowns slippers to be soled here. I picked this spot because it's right by my work and the owner seems pretty nice. It's a bit pricey, but the location is convenient for me. The job was done, a bit sloppy on the bottom with the black glue/paint on the light soles but so far it's doing the job. I have reluctantly been taking my shoes here for 6 years. This was the last time. They do a passable job on fixing the shoes. But unfortunately the customer service is lacking and what really irks me is I took 4 pairs of boots that all needed the same repair and he started giving me different rates for all. Then when he started writing down the cost, they were different (higher) than what he had just said they would be. Anyway, I hesitantly agreed to the outrageous price and asked when I could pick up my boots. He said they would be ready the next day (Tuesday) after 4:30. I showed up at 5 on Tuesday and was told they weren't ready and I should pick them up Wednesday morning on my way into work. Next morning, same thing, they're not ready yet, wait 5 mins. I said no its ok, I'll come back in the afternoon. So I go there in the afternoon and low and behold, he says they're all ready. So I'm taking a look at the boots but half the things he charged me for, weren't done yet. So I was pretty annoyed at this point and asked him when they would actually be done. So he says a couple of hours, pick them up at 5. Of course I show up at 5, still not done!!! I ask him when they'll be done and he says FRIDAY!! When they were originally supposed to be done and ready to go on Tuesday. I finally show up on Friday praying my boots will be ready so I can finally end this awful saga. I had decided prior to going there that I would calmly tell them I will no longer be a customer for the reasons below (bottom line). His response? He started yelling at me?!!! I told him I came back 3 times and each time the work paid for wasn't done and he said its my fault because I came earlier than he said the shoes would be ready?!! Most places, people would apologize, give me a discount, something to retain a long time customer. But rather, he yelled at me and said it was somehow my fault he hasn't completed all the work he charged for in the time he gave me!!! Try to figure that out! Bottom line: 1. Makes up charges as he goes along 2. Doesn't complete the work he charged for 3. Doesn't respect the customers time 4. ZERO customer service skills 5. Workmanship is passable I won't be going there again. Steer clear! I'm sure you can find another reasonable shoe repair place. UPDATE: I started wearing the boots he "fixed" and ended up with wet socks. Prior to having them "fixed" my feet and socks remained dry :( I'm pretty upset that I spent $140 repairing 4 pairs of boots, 2 of which won't even keep my feet dry anymore. I often wonder if I have attacks of dyspraxia. I can get through most days reasonably safely, but then have moments of severe clumsiness. My most recent was walking to work last week. It was a day where I had a flexible start so didn't have to be in until after 9. I was trotting along happily in the sunshine wearing a comfy pair of sandals when I decided to throw some paper in the garbage. I stumbled, half fell into the bin...and broke the toe strap around my sandal. I was close to work and Gerry's at the time so I decided to hobble in there first and see if they could do anything for me. He was truly my cobbler in shining armour. I explained that I didn't have a spare pair with me so he sat me down on the bench and took the sandal into the back to do a temporary repair-enough to get me to work and home. There was no charge! I came back later with the sandal for the official repair. He checked it over and found other areas that were liable to go too. I started to worry that getting them repaired was going to cost more than they were worth, but securing multiple areas came to $12. A shoe repair shop that doesn't charge a fortune and will get you through a shoe emergency is a keeper as far as I'm concerned! read more

I had the worst customer experience he charged me $35 to fix it the first time and a month later only after 2 wears my heel broke! I told him about it and he said it's because the way it was done before as not right,I told him he is the one who did it. Don't bring your best shoes here. Best for the pair of shoes you leave at the office. Had a half sole replaced which is a pretty standard job and the overall result was a little sloppy. Everything is functional but just seems like the attention to detail is lacking as some of the colouring that was applied colour match the sole was done a bit sloppy and so there's some blotchiness between shiny and matte parts on the welt. Fine for the office but not for your Sunday best. read more

My favourite spot to bring in my busted heels, worn soles, and nappy heels. What happens when I do? Amazing things. My shoes are repaired in no time, and always come out polished and ready to roll. Today, I dropped off a pair of badly beaten Frye boots (I thought these were tough enough to stand my rigors, but no, I guess not). A throughout inspection ensued, multiple injuries, promised to be healed, and, on top of all this, I was offered a pick up at day's end. I offered a late Friday pick up, and was told, no, that's too long for you to wait, how about later on today? What?! All this for a mere $30, and you'll tidy them up?! Seriously. I bought a pair of cheap (but leather!) boots last fall and put them through their Toronto slush-and-muck paces over 2012/2013. When I pulled them out of the closet this fall, I noticed they were salt stained (so, so dirty!), the soles of both heels was worn off, and in fact the 'built up' part of the heels was wearing away along the back edge. I popped into Gerry's during my lunch break last Friday and dropped them off with their assurance the heel could be built up again and fixed. Picked them up today and they're not only totally fixed (I think the sole is thicker than it was originally, YAY!) but they are SHINING! All the salt marks are gone! $30 for a whole new boot-life! Worst customer service and business ever!! Do not come here for any shoe repairs. The man told me to come on a specific day to pick up the shoes and it was never completed. He told me to come back the following week and blamed me that I came too late in the week. I'm never coming back here again. So many complaints from other customers too read more

I am very hard on my shoes, especially the heels, and the cobbler here has rescued several pairs of shoes - some were easy repairs, and some _would_ have been easy repairs had I brought them in earlier. In all cases they did an amazing job, quickly and very cheaply. read more

Terrible. Avoid at all costs. Ruined my velvet Manolo hangisi, got black marks all over it and added a half sole that poked out from the bottom that you can see an ugly black sole when it's on. Do not bring anything to this man, he is terrible and says everything is okay when it is not. AVOID. read more

AVOID this place at all cost. My oxfords had a 1cm x 1cm discloured spot. I had it 'repaired' at this place and two days later I picked it up. The guy basically ruined my oxfords. He just layered it and caked it with layers of heavy cream and polish to try and cover up that discoloured spot. DONT GO HERE. read more

NEVER take your shoes here (or anything you value). I brought my boots in to have the lining repaired (I wish I had just left it alone now). He told me he would need to unstitch my boots at the seam to access the liner, then stitch back up. When I got the boots back, I could not get them on without a struggle, and couldn't get them off without help - they had been stitched up too tight. I have had these boots for 5 years and have never had an issue getting them on or off. My feet did not grow in the week that he had them for repair, either. I took them back in and asked him to fix them and he started yelling at me, saying it wasn't anything he had done - it was the boots, or it was me!!!!! So I told him I wanted my money back, and he continued to yell at me!! The situation was so clearly not my fault that other customers who were there could see this too, and came to my defence, and then left because they couldn't imagine giving this guy their business. read more

I have used this shoe repair in the past, so I returned there to have a sandal strap repaired and a new zipper put in my Fluevog boots. I also asked that the boots be cleaned and polished. I was told all would be ready for pick up on Thursday (2 days hence). I said I would come back the following Tuesday - I couldn't come on Thursday. Much like Nishita V's experience, when i returned only the sandal strap had been repaired. I was told to come back the next day at 8:30. When I went by at 9:00 the boots were not ready...but I did get a look at them... What was once a mid-brown, with top stitching in a slightly lighter colour, with the natural variation in the leather showing through, is now a shiny, solid dark brown. Think cork-board to Jello chocolate pudding. I was speechless. This is just 'clean and polish'? The owner insisted that there was damage to the leather so it had to be darkened to cover it. I didn't ask for my boots to be dyed and the top stitching obliterated. I guess taking my phone number was not so I could be contacted if there was a problem. Bottom line - okay for repairs/terrible for judgment, aesthetics, and customer service. read more
