We attended a wedding here and enjoyed it very much. It's a good 3 star venue…read more We stayed a few days in their glamping pods too. They were cosy but it would be a different matter on a frosty winter day. Breakfast was included in the daily price paid for pod accommodation. The pods have little by way facilities within so bring a kettle with all the fixings - tea bags, coffee etc. The beds are low and near the floor. The shower and toilet block is a short walk away from the pods - the showers are fabulously hot. There's a whiff of sewage close by the block. Their WiFi is poor, especially at the pods, and yes I know it's a wedding venue and that we should put our phones away, but I'm afraid anything short of excellent WiFi as a minimum just isn't acceptable today especially given the price charged for accommodation and with guests choosing to stay on site essentially isolated for a few days as there's not much else to do around. Guests make paydays and they can decide for themselves to use or put their devices into limbo. The venue is deep in beautiful, quiet countryside close by the sea and on one bright morning we walked to the beach. In terms of food our wedding hosts didn't hold back on their choices - we had amuse bouche served in a barn and the little we had was excellent. While there was no shortage of food, rather the staff serving provided many plates of food to the tables around outside and as we sat at tables in the centre we did not get much food to eat. The servers even provided hors d'œuvre to the staff serving the tea/coffee/biscuits. We saw tables of eight with 5/6 plates of food yet our table of eight and some others around us got two plates. Most folks had high praise for the main wedding meal served in another barn but I'm afraid I was disappointed by the sirloin steak main I'd chosen. I got the impression that the meat was sous vide or similar cooked and finished off by frying. My meat was over cooked, didn't taste good and I did not enjoy it or any other lukewarm food on the main plate. I would not pay for this meal had it been put before me in a restaurant. The music was varied and performed over different on site venues and days and all of it was fabulous. Bar prices are quite high and there are no speciality or real ale beers. They have a captive audience and take full benefit from this. The morning breakfasts are missable minimal effort as juice/cereal/butter/toast/jam/tea/fairly ok coffee.

The staff are really friendly and very attentive. All the food is really good but I highly recommend going for the beef on the menu as it just melts in your mouth. On this visit we had chicken wings to start then I had the beef and my wife had the turkey and ham followed by the desert of cheesecake for my wife and being the big kid that I am I had jelly and ice cream. The best about all of this is the cost because the bill was just less than €50. I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you go here.

We went here once for Sunday lunch but we weren't enthused to want to go again…read more The quality of the meats was pretty fair. Quantity was generous so an ok place. It was group catering - school dinners for adults - with lots of folks queuing with trays and hungry - so nothing much by way of refinements and the vegetables were over cooked. It attracts those who want cheap and cheerful and not fussy or picky. Each side gets a fair deal the diners get well fed meat and two veg (salmon was available too) and they don't have to pay a rip off sum. It wouldn't be fair either to expect refinements as the prices don't merit them. The place would have looked modern and classy in the 1980's but not so much now. A cash cow. I can't imagine returning but just because I prefer a little bit more attention to taste.

Sure, you need good vision to see the sea, but it's there! We stayed 3 nights and added breakfast. Our check in was late, (thanks to a navigation re-route after a long day out), tho flawless. We were presenting a drink amenity and advised the bar was still open... nice touch. Our aromatherapy spray wasn't in the room. Not a huge deal, but I didn't bring any with me, since the room included it and we really liked the provided one on our last stay. The room was clean, well-appointed and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful. The croissants alone were worth the additional cost. I could have eaten them all day, every day. There is cereal, fruit, eggs, black & white pudding, ham (bacon), deli meats and cheeses, assorted breads & pastries, a gluten-free station and... did I mention the croissants? Check-out was painless. We owed a small additional amount for taxes. The gent working the desk called up to make sure we got breakfast pre-departure, when he found out we hadn't yet eaten and were flying out. On his insistence, we went up for breakfast before going to the airport. I owe him one. We would not have had time to eat. The lines were crazy. Those small touches make a huge difference and will keep us coming back. Another great stay.

The front desk manager went out of his way to make me a cup of coffee one morning as it was early and breakfast wasn't starting for a few hours. The restaurant on the 13th floor is a great breakfast venue and again the staff are very helpful- making a mocha or Americano or providing extra pancakes for my 8 year old. Rooms are big and clean and the showers are great. Anything I needed was attended to without delay. Well done and I will plan on staying here again on my next trip to Dundalk

This was all following Storm Éowyn. To clarify, my partner's children would all be neurospicy like her and myself (she's Autistic and I've got cPTSD and ADHD). Her eldest son is Autistic and would be slightly more profound than the rest of us. I initially had a poor interaction with a girl in the restaurant. She was incredibly rude for no reason. Following that, I approached the reception to give feedback on their staff and politely complain. Before I could even explain anything, an overbearing voice from beside me started asserting that the hotel staff were all doing their best etc. I explained that none of that was really what was in question. I wanted to tell them that I'd had a very rude experience. This offensive gentleman got right up in my face in an extremely threatening manner. I was extremely surprised to discover the gentleman was nom other than the MD of the hotel. His completely casual attire and overall manner, should have given a clear indicator of the unprofessional approach I would experience. What resulted was an initial exchange between Fank and I, followed by an exchange between Frank and my partner. The contents of which were Frank detailing how Autistic children should be put in care and he would ring Tulsa about her child. When the hotel MD said this we left immediately. Unfortunately, this took us about thirty minutes as my partner's son had an autistic meltdown over the incident.

What a great place. It's cosy and serves up good food and great beer. We had walked by this place…read morequite a few times as it's right beside the sea, along a favourite walking spot with a perfect view of the Mourne mountains, Warrenpoint and the peninsula and Carlingford bay, but never ventured in until now. We had been invited to a wedding and this was the reception venue. The venue couldn't physically cater for a big wedding. This one was around 100 guests and it was a tad cramped. The stage is small too. The meal was excellent, fish starter, perfectly cooked tasty meats for main and a scrummy trio of desserts. For the most part Irish restaurants deliver excellent fish and meat. The country is a giant natural larder and the cold Atlantic provides everything from crab and oysters to salmon and turbot, with a mostly soft damp climate with few temperature extremes. It has to be one of the best natural food rearing, growing climates on earth. Where restaurants did disappoint was usually the vegetables which were either cooked until they disintegrated or they were not properly cooked at all. The former was more typical. This place got it right. All the vegetables were perfectly cooked. It's also a fact or at least it's how I find it now that the places that murder great veg by overcooking are diminishing. In terms of rating it's probably a one star, there's no swimming pool, no jacuzzi or steam baths. Just a basic ten room old hotel with oodles of parking. It's not bad enough to need redecorated but it's not at all modern if you get my drift. I wouldn't change it as it's period, characterful and lots of real wood and old comfy chairs. The best thing about it is the friendliness of the staff. Like so many places now, the welcome and the service is genuinely warm and has that beguiling Irish charm. Now TH's we've been once, and liked it, we'll be back to try the al a carte. One real bummer though, the coffee is crap and like the over cooked vegetables of old Ireland it's just not acceptable to serve up this awful powdered crap any more. Oh and finally there's free wifi.
