I believe breakfast is good with a lot of options but have never been . Seating is indoors ands out . If it's warm enough eat outside as the view is good . The lunch menu is short and good choices . Open sandwiches. The have an offer of soup and a toasted sandwich for €8 considering their all soups are homemade and it looks like the breads also this is a good deal . Today's soup was carrot and broccoli, delicious, the balance between the 2 was very good with no one flavour dominating with a very moist slice of homemade brown bread. I had an open mixed crab sandwich on homemade sourdough , salad leaves and sweet chili sauce , balsamic vinegar and pesto. A great combination of flavours . The crab was so fresh and light . My wife had an warm open pear and Brie sandwich on a brioche bun . The bun was defo home made , more like a puff pastry in appearance. The Brie was from Wicklow . There was a prawn and salmon sandwich among others . 6 open ones on the menu . The specials board had a Thai green curry , a flat bread , potato sound with a chicken and mushroom filling and an charcuterie platter. We had arrived early and had a tea and peppermint tea until lunch was ready we got hot water refills and were not charged . They serve a carafe of flavored water with mint or grapefruit and other flavors. Service is really good and friendly . There are some delicious cakes on the menu with really good coffee . If your around the Arklow stop by , google for directions as it's off the beaten track Nd sit back and enjoy

DO NOT STAY HERE ! No adequate security for your stay! No security cameras in corridors, room doors…read moreappear to be easily compromised and the General Manager is the only " security " on site ! Absolutely astounding for a 5 star hotel !!! SHOCKING WOULD BE A BETTER WORD! Travelled 11 hours from California for a close family friend's daughter's wedding. The welcome at reception was inviting, the room was as advertised although sparse of the simple items you would expect in a 5 star hotel bathroom ( body lotion, simple vanity kits, cotton balls etc., ) Service in the bar/lounge the evening before the wedding was good and had a great atmosphere for pre-wedding drinks and fun! The breakfast the next morning was excellent ! We left our room at exactly 2.30pm the next day ( day of the wedding) to go downstairs to one of their function rooms for the service. Everything was set up beautifully and the wedding coordinator was incredible .... Everything went off without a hitch! Unbeknownst to us, however, someone must have been watching us leave our room because whilst we were in the closed off function room, someone was raiding our bedroom and stealing specific designer items that I had worn the night before in the hotel's bar/lounge! In addition to my designer handbag and scarf, all of my makeup, perfume, my designer prescription sunglasses, my husband's prescription sunglasses and reading glasses, and our personal personal hygiene items were gone ! All open suitcases were rummaged through and left disheveled!! Thankfully we had our passports, money, jewelry case and one lap top in the very small room safe. The total itemized list of stolen goods was just over US$5,000.00 The door to our room had been opened in some way other than our individual keys and the deadbolt lock had been put in place! Upon reporting this incident to the General Manager, and in his actual presence, the door still remained unlocked even though it was closed ... the explanation given was the mechanism needed new batteries !!! So, essentially, the entire hotel staff, patrons and guests could have just walked up to our room, tried the handle and walked in!!! The Gardai are now involved, this is being investigated as a criminal offense and we are were given " a gesture of goodwill " - quote-unquote, compensation for our two night stay but other than that it has been up to us to contact a representative from The Neville Hotel Group to find out what is going on. As a side note, when I advised the General Manager that we would be employing the services of a Solicitor and that I would be writing this review for all social media platforms, his reply was " are you threatening me " !!! I replied that it was not a threat, rather a statement of fact! At the end of the day, things are replaceable in this life .... What is NOT replaceable is that we missed out on 70% of this planned, much anticipated celebration of a young woman we have known since she was born ! Most of our wedding evening was spent with hotel management and the Gardai giving a report on what happened! All this time, we tried our very best NOT to let our friends or the wedding couple know what was happening ! It was extremely upsetting for us both and very traumatizing until we checked out the following day .... To add insult to injury, we were told we could not charge 2 cups of coffee and a cup of tea to our bill, " as it had been closed off " !! Whilst this is an ongoing investigation, my personal opinion is that the hotel most definitely are liable for this situation being allowed to happen in the first place. This is a well known " golf hotel and spa " and to think they are failing their customers with lack of even basic security for a 5 star status hotel is incomprehensible! We were in no way at fault for this traumatic experience but certainly did not get that definitive feeling from the General Manager the morning after! In closing, I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend this hotel as an overnight stay, considering the present lack of basic security for its guests! It remains to be seen how we will be compensated for their failings but as I said prior, we will NEVER get the memories, or lack there of, from a wedding that was to be the highlight of our trip back home to Ireland.

We had one castle room and one carriage room for our stay. Both rooms were quaint and well maintained. The gardens around the property are gorgeous and wonderful to explore during nice weather. The only thing to note is that in off-season the main restaurant is only open on the weekends and the tea service is not available during the week. While we enjoyed the food at Hermione's, the day we stayed there was a group event closing the main restaurant so we had to eat in the bar area. Most of the activities are off the property which wasn't very clear as we approached the date of our stay. We ended up visiting the National Stud Farm (about 30 minutes drive) and the clay pigeon shooting (about 40 minutes drive). Highly recommend both activities and really appreciate the staff helping us arrange these activities. The downstairs bar area is open late with a delicious charcuterie and board games are available to use by the fireplace which was a fun way to spend the later evening hours. Highly recommend staying at Kilkea Castle Hotel!
