I am writing this review because I have had Germania Insurance for over 12 years now. We have had home insurance claims, totaled cars, and and lots of problems through the years. We have NEVER had a problem with filing a claim, working with our agents or collecting the amount due after our deductible. Germania has ALWAYS been up front and fair with everyone that I know that have their insurance with them. Their rates are reasonable, and they offer so much more than just the average run of the mill insurance company. I think if everyone were honest they would admit that Germania goes above and beyond to help their customer resolve issues. The people that are complaining probably aren't being very truthfully and probably had other issues that were not discusses in their complaint. read more

Entered claim on May 4. Damage to house from leaking roof. Agent: "With that much water you must have a burst pipe, if you do, we don't cover that" and "If the rain blew in under the shingles and no shingles were blown off, we don't cover that" All the plumbing in this house is in the slab, plus when we leave the house for an extended time, I turn off the well and drain all the water out of the house. Agent suggests that I tarp the roof to avoid any further damage and remove the wet carpet and padding. I told Agent that there is black mold on many of the walls. Agent says, "We don't cover black mold". I said if the roof had not leaked the carpet would not be saturated and there would be no black mold. Agent used my phone to email pictures of damage I took on May 3 to Germania Insurance. May 5, my grandson and I put tarps on the roof over all the damaged area. May 6, I removed carpet and padding from front entry and from the front door to the rear patio door in the living room. May 6, Insurance Claims Guy (No. 1) calls to tell me that a Contractor (No. 1) will be calling me to set up an appointment to inspect the house and prepare an estimate. Asked if had already picked a contractor to which I answered "No". May 7, Germania representative called around Noon and gave me the name and phone number of the person who will call me from Contractor No. 1 to set up the appointment. At about 3:30 PM Insurance Claims Guy No. 2 calls and says he will be handling the claim. Insurance Claims Guy No. 1 is just too busy to handle the claim. Claims Guy No. 2 also tells me that Contractor No. 1 will not do the inspection and estimate because it is too far for them to travel. Claims Guy No. 2 gives me the name of Contractor No. 2. I informed Claims Guy No. 2 that I would have to travel 3 hours to get to the house. I explained that the roof had been tarped, and he said Contractor No. 2 would have to remove the tarps to do the inspection. I also explained that I had started removing the carpet and padding. Claims Guy No. 2 said the Contractor chosen to do the repairs would remove the carpet and padding and remove the water. Contractor No. 2 would want to inspect the carpet. May 7, I sent 3 pictures of the roof damage to Claims Guy No. 2. After 2 failed attempts to send the pictures to the email address given to me by Claims Guy No. 2 (ClaimsGuy2@Germania.com) I realized that the domain name was GermaniaInsurance.com not Germania.com. The third attempt was successful (at least I did not receive an error message as I did on the first 2 attempts). May 7, 2:45 PM Contractor No. 2 called to set up an appointment to inspect the house, I reminded Contractor No. 2 that I would have to travel 3 hours to get to the house. We agreed that 4 PM Monday (May 11) we would meet at the house. May 11, received a call from Contractor No. 2 at 4:35 PM. He said he was 1 hour away and that he had been very busy all day. Contractor No. 2 arrived around 5:45 PM, inspected the house, crawled under the tarps, took pictures and showed me with his thermal camera where the water had traveled through the ceiling from the hole in the living room along the header over the glass patio doors to the dining room. May 13, around 11:39 AM received call from Claims Guy No. 2. He stated that only the portion of the claim that would be covered is the roof itself. He claimed that an old rotten spot in the soffit was the cause of the water entering the house. That must have been some rainstorm. So drastic that the water went through or around the damaged shingles in the valley on the roof, flowed down the roof and against gravity flowed straight up through a hole in the soffit to flood the house. The carpet (and padding) is saturated in the living room, dining room, entry way, hall, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and utility room. This is a 2,700 square foot house. That's a lot of water. The hole in the soffit was there when the roof was replaced in 2014. With all the thunderstorms, rainstorms and windstorms, water never flew up through the hole and flooded every part of the house. It only happened when the shingles were blown off the roof. Through this whole ordeal, the constant reminders of what "We don't cover" should have been a warning. Now I know they don't cover events that defy the laws of nature and that water can flow off a roof and travel straight up through a hole in the soffit. to be continued... read more

Germania Insurance and their ally, Copart Auto Salvage, are the absolute worst to deal with. My daughter is actually the one going through hell (and that is not an exaggeration) with them. Never heard of them before and hopefully will never have to do business with either of these companies. Luckily my daughter is an OC and has documented every conversation and taken pictures. Been with them for over 15 years and as long as u don't have a claim ur there best customer company took a turn for the worst price hikes and still give the run around if u file a claim , found a better insurance company and saved between the house and cars close to 2200 $ a year it pays to shop around and got a much better policy on both home and auto so shop around it's pays because Germania only cares about there share holders look at all the reviews and they also gone crazy on rates ,my mistake was staying with them for 15 plus years but live and learn I can't express on shopping around at least once a year I couldn't believe the price difference and coverage! I was rear ended by their insured customer horribly. For 2 weeks I didn't have a vehicle due to "waiting on liability," and I am STILL waiting on liability for my physical injuries. After every day of begging for a rental car because I am a nursing school student, do not have family in my college town to give me rides, or any other source of transportation.. I finally received a rental car confirmation. When I picked up the vehicle they told me it was covered for a week, which I still think is extremely unreasonable. However, I received an email from the car rental company just yesterday that Germania has changed the coverage date, and will only be covering for 3 days. This company has 0 empathy for me and my situation. They want to minimize the payout as much as possible and do not care about how much it suffers others. I should've received a rental car the day after I was rear ended by their customer, and now they want to give it to me for only 3 days? I haven't even received my full settlement letter, how do they expect me to purchase a vehicle?! Please do not get insurance from Getmania, they are SO INHUMANE. read more

I have been dealing with Germania since November 6, 2024 and they are terrible. Their client ran a red light and hit my minor daughter and caused her great injury. They have been rude to us, they take days to get back to us on any emails or phone calls. Here we are at 2 months since the accident and not a single thing has been settled. I would not use Germania as my insurance company, they are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. Their driver nearly killed my daughter. He turned left from the right lane and struck my daughter and flipped her car. Their driver told the investigating police officer that he missed his turn so he cut her off and hit her to get to it. He didn't see her. It's been over a week that they have been delaying accepting liability. We've been able to speak to the officer 3 times by phone but Germania can't reach him. Uh huh. Right. Meanwhile, my daughter with a special needs kid has no car, no rental, and we're dealing with a company who clearly does not care to do the right thing. I wouldn't let Germania insure me if they were the last insurance company on earth. And they may very well be. Cockroaches are forever. It's blatantly a case of bad faith claims adjusting. And reading their reviews here, they do it more than they don't. I just don't see how they can get away with it. I will update after I find a lawyer who can right this wrong. read more

I was involved in an accident with one of their customers this past Friday. She is clearly at fault, but as others on here have said, Germania doesn't get in any hurry to assist you. It has been five days now and I still don't have a rental car. They seem to have trouble determining who is at fault in a timely manner. So, I'm now on day three with no income due to their lack of respect and no F's given. I had a similar situation two years ago, and State Farm had a rental before noon on the second day. Germania obviously doesn't care if your life has been disrupted. The SF adjuster went out of his way to help me. The Germania adjuster, Lara P. only had excuses and stall tactics. She was a nice lady, but I didn't get the feeling she was doing everything she could to get a rental for me. read more

Unacceptable! In your time of need, they are not there for you! I've been with Germania since 2008 They are always there to answer the phone when you need to make a payment, but try to make a claim on your auto insurance? Nobody calls you back! Then, when you do try and call, you simply get endless prompts trying to find where to go and when you finally find the place you're supposed to land, you just simply wait on hold with an agent never actually picking up. Germania, don't believe me? Why don't you give yourselves a call and go through the prompts and try to make a claim! Germania was informed of my auto accident last Thursday afternoon, it is now Monday noon and still no word from any of them! I had to call my local agent in order to get the information of the Germania agent in charge of my case. As soon as she was assigned to my case, I immediately gave her a call, left a message with all of my information as instructed, it is Monday noon and still no word from anyone at Germania! No email, no text, no voicemail and no phone call! I've tried several times today, to call their main number, you simply go through a number of prompts, wait on hold and then get frustrated enough that you need to leave a review! My local agent! Absolutely fantastic! Watkins Insurance group, in Austin Texas. They have been absolutely fantastic, always answer voicemails or emails immediately. They answer their phones! If your local agent isn't available they will certainly get someone for you to talk to if you can't leave a voice message. So, back to Germania, I would not recommend Germania Insurance! They are simply spending all of their money on the circuit of America's and not providing timely customer service in a time of need!! read more

NEVER do business with them. Was hit by one of their insured drivers and it has been a nightmare trying to get ahold of the customer service rep who never called to get my claim as I was out of town. My husband tried to take care of it but couldn't. Finally gave the claim and having problems getting a rental now. Didn't want to give me an equal value to my car so I can carry my family around. Had to fight for that, still not sure if I will get it. They told me I needed to pay the difference, um no your client hit me. Have gone round and round. Will not use them for insurance for sure. Plan on getting ignored! One of their customers rear-ended my husband 50 DAYS AGO (06/26 and is now 08/15). 7 WEEKS and we still have yet to have our car fixed or payments made on property damaged inside the vehicle. We received the initial state required letter from them, but, they have gone completely silent ever since. We have never even spoken to our actual adjuster. Just random office people who claim they will forward our message as urgent. They have never initiated conversation with us....calls, emails or text. We have had to initiate every conversation, it's always a new lame excuse..... "we're going through a system update", "she's out of office", "she had to leave early", "she got a promotion but her team is working her cases", "our phones are down (even though you answered the phone ??? really?), "you have a new adjuster", "we haven't received 'blah blah blah' documents" (even though we have sent them multiple times).... but it always ends the same.... "we'll forward the message and make sure this gets handled". Lies. I am now calling literally EVERY SINGLE DAY and even then, NOTHING!!! Think my next step is to contact an attorney for Bad Faith lawsuit. State of Texas Common Law Chapter 541 and 542 both spell out the definition and required timeline to settle a claim, all of which Germania has more than exceeded. read more

I got hit by an insured driver with Germania. Through the whole process the agents have been kind and understanding, however the policies they have are not. I got hit on a legal left hand turn by a driver who ran a red light. He was super nice and even owned up to it completely. However that was on a Saturday evening and Germania didn't get me a rental till Wednesday afternoon, and had me return it the Tuesday following. I asked for reimbursement for the gas money I've been paying daily to get to and from work and they said that since they "gave" me 3 extra days of car rental that they didn't have to compensate us. That was last week, and I only just got a reworked estimate for my totalled car, and it is low even for my car in general. They have offered no additional compensation for the incident. I wouldn't wish this treatment on anyone. read more

Absolutely the worst insurance company i've ever dealt with, I wish I could give negative stars. Most recent claim took them over 60 days to determine fault for a very simple fender-bender only to deny the claim due to "too many variables." Expect needing to call 3, 4, maybe 5 times before you can get through to anyone (maybe) and never receiving call backs to voicemails you leave. The last adjuster I worked with was Nikki Stovall and I wish I could find better words to describe the absolute lack of professionalism she exhibits. Adjuster could not give me a reason why they are not paying 3,000 outside if deductible for my roof. Just walk through Home Depot and see how everything has went up. If I could give them negative stars, I would. One of their insured drivers rear ended my truck and it's been like pulling teeth to get anything done. I've basically had to harass them like a bill collector to get anyone to communicate with myself or my body shop. Definitely not a good look. I've reviewed Germania 1 star out of 5 for the following reasons: - Terrible communication - My son was somewhat rear ended (hit in the right rear quarter panel/bumper) by a client of Germania - The day of the collision we called them and we're told to get three quotes. After over two weeks of hearing nothing since, my wife has called several times and finally told by Mrs. Bullock that they can't reach their insured driver or parents. My wife was told that if they try to contact them 10 times with no success then Germania will deny the claim. - It doesn't matter that the insured left her insurance information and drivers license info with my son and left the scene of the accident before he called the police. - I personally have called and left messages for Mrs. Bullock several times without once getting a return call - If Mrs. Bullock is attempting to reach her insured with the same honesty and diligence with which she has returned NOT ONE of my calls then I know where this is heading. If you can't be trusted to return my calls on what should be a simple matter then how can you be trusted to follow through and actually call the insured when it might cost you money. This is a fine way to represent Germania. - I have reached a very nice person on the phone from the Agency named Melissa- she represented you well but not the claims department. - Clearly we were told this because it's legally allowed to happen but that doesn't make it any less shameful. I would think that a company the size of Germania would operate above a bare minimum and at least have the decency to return a call. - Today I've left a message for Matthew D. a claims Mgr. and I'm told he will return my call this afternoon. I just want to be kept up to speed on what's going on so we can get my sons car fixed. He worked all spring and summer, saved his own $6,000 and bought his own car. I'm raising my kids to do the right things and take responsibility when they're supposed to. I just wish people at this company would take responsibility. - I'm sure this will all fall on deaf ears eventually and I don't even know what filing a complaint with the Texas State Board really means (probably not much) but at least I'll tell my son I've tried to go scorched earth and do everything I can for him. read more

I have GERMANIA insurance and needed to file a claim with another person's GERMANIA insurance. A driver took out an electrical pole and we lost service for several hours, when power was restored my oven did not come back. I have been waiting over 9 weeks for the adjuster to settle the claim. With current delivery issues it will be another 8 weeks for me to get an oven. This is unacceptable, I can not imagine what takes 9+ weeks to settle a claim. read more

Very dishonest. I had a claim and had an estimate done at one of their approved sites. The representative was aware (we had spoken several times) of this estimate. When it came time to settle I was sent a check for less. and when I finally spoke to her by phone; she made it quite clear she did not care-she did not recommend I speak to a supervisor-she even said (lied) that she knew nothing about the estimate I had gotten-she said the settlement would not change even if there was an estimate. STOP! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! If it was possible to give negative here, oh boy do I would sure do it. House and cars went through a hail storm (documented by the national weather service and spotters) but because I did not photograph the hail and damage they denied my claim. What did not know there guys were weather experts, don't worry neither did I. They drug this claim on for months, I have to say I got sick and tired of them and left them because of it. Do not expect communication for these guys they won't respond to mails. I have to say after this whole ordeal they did teach me photograph everything, before after and especially during. Oh and if you are worried about dealing with your family through this, don't because they don't care if your family if good or not just that you have proof that things happened. We filed a roof claim with Germania and it was determined we needed a replacement. The adjuster, Bill Tillet, was right on time. He was very knowledgeable and explained the damages to us. He was very courteous and helpful. Our first check arrived very quickly. The work was done by Lankford roofing in Sherman Texas, who did a great job. The last check was delivered on time also. We are very happy with our experience, especially with the adjuster, Bill, who made the process go quickly and efficiently. read more

1 star is a must, one of the worst insurance companies EVER. I was told by Lindsey Fricke ( adjuster) that it was ok for their clients to hit another vehicle and leave the scene of the accident to keep a police report or citation from being issued and that SHE did not honor police reports and SHE had final say as to who was in the wrong not the police. Lol so her client crossed a solid white line hit my truck, ran a red light while fleeing the scene of the accident pulled into a parking lot about 1/4 mile from point of impact, ONLY BECAUSE I WAS CHASING HIM and she determined it was you fault. Her client even told her he left the scene, and it's still my fault. I'm just glad know one was hurt. The ol saying one bad apple can spoil the basket is a understatement. Hope I never have to deal with these jerks again. read more

I got in a wreck in June of 2018 and just found out in November that they dropped me due to this. It would have been nice to have found this out when the claims adjuster harassed the three people who saw the accident. It's also discouraging that I'm the one insured by germania and yet they sided with the motorcycle driver who was drunk with no insurance and bike wasn't registered. Life is anything but fair but I would think germania would have the decency (especially after harassing the three people who saw the damn accident) to let me know since the wreck was in June and I'm just finding out in November. The absolute worst. Slow as can be. It's been nearly a month now and I'm still waiting for my claim to get resolved. I have to make daily calls to try and get any sort of info on what the holdup is. Haven't gotten even one call from Germania. My "adjuster", Sarah, hasn't answered a single one of my calls or replied to any of my numerous voicemails over the course of three weeks. The absolute worst insurance experience I have ever had. It's one thing to be slow and take a month to get the process rolling, it's another thing to leave my body shop hanging and provide absolutely 0 updates to me. I highly recommend staying away from Germania. I generally don't post reviews, and on the rare occasion that I do, they are almost entirely positive, but I have nothing positive to say about Germania. read more

I was a victim of the pandemic, I lost many work hours and wasn't getting paid enough for my financial obligation, but I was able to somehow continue to pay the premium at Germania insurance. Years and years ago my roof was damaged in a storm, I received a very very small amount for the damage and could not find a company that would fix the roof that I could afford, so I use the money and repaired the roof it was not a complete replacement only replace that which was damaged, it was sufficient. After the pandemic slow down and I receive a raise in pay at work, a substantial race, a raise of more than $3 an hour with this I was able to try and fix my roof, but all quotes was terribly high one quote was $11,000 , I never put in a another claim I was going to fix it myself I am doing so at the moment. In August of this year, I paid a partial payment of $160, for what was a $216 total. The clerk I assured me that I can make the remaining balance of the payment a few days later, I did. A few days after that I receive a notice from my mortgage company, that informed me that my insurance from Germania was canceled. Had I knew that the late payment would cause such a problem, I would have found the remaining $56 from somewhere and paid it, I receive the premium of 215 dollars back from Germania insurance on September 2nd 2022. they refunded the whole payment after cancelling the insurance I don't know if this experience was good or bad, I'm just struggling to get a new policy for my home, I am a retired disabled soldier and is 68 years old.t read more

Do not use this company for your insurance or do any business with them! They surely don't mind you being a customer for 8 years and paying a premium but when something happens to your home they do not want to pay out on claims. The process is ridicules and the 2 people I worked with were horrible! One named Billy and the other a manager by the name of Chris Chambers! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! What once was a company that took care of their customers has turned into a company that only wants to take your money and lie, cheat, & steel from their customers. Want to point out everything in the policy why your claim has been denied, but yet they do not abide by the guidelines in your policy for what they must do when a claim is filed. If you get a call back it is a miracle! Excuses! Excuses! I have paid Germanic premiums for 67 yrs. They are denying my claim because they say Per their policy I failed to file the claim within a year of the date of loss. The if you can show good cause for not filing the claim within the one year timeframe, you may file the claim after the first anniversary date of the loss is a JOKE!!! Because apparently there aren't any that will be considered! They are heartless! Will not even consider the COVID pandemic in 2020 & 2021, having COVID etc because all they want to do is have their name on big billboards like Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin and American Airlines Center in Dallas. Probably have one at Globe Field & Minute Maid Park, too! Run from Germania! And take your business to PROGRESSIVE! A company that bends over backwards to help you! Purchased a liability insurance policy through this company 3 years in a row. Third year we sold out. renewed our policy in July, sold in September. Asked for the policy to be prorated since we only needed it 2 months. Out of over $700 they gave us $26 back. We also have an RV policy through them, from seam had separated during a storm and leaked. We temporarily sealed it back to prevent further leaks while we dealt with Germania. It was about 2 months before we were able to get with them to assess it. They denied the claim and said the damage was "too old". Don't waste your money with this company. We have pulled ALL of our insurance policies from them read more

We filed a claim for the flooding that happened in our home during the TEXAS Winter Storm. Instead of the claim adjuster notifying us that it wasn't covered under our policy. Germania Insurance sent out an adjuster and had us call a water restoration company to mitigate the problem and demo our home. When we called Germania asking about moving forward with the remodeling process we were then told it wouldn't be covered so now we are out of our deductible from the water restoration company and other fees we were told that would be refunded. What an empty feeling to have, alongside with a damaged house raising 2 kids. read more

have had Germania now for 3 years having transfered our home insurance from USSA for better rates they replaced the roof on our home after we found a water stain on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms .the adjuster arrived on time 2 days after i called the office, cant get better service than that .and quickly decided the 17 year old roof needed replacing , got first check within 5 days with instructions to forward the total invoice when job completed then they would forward the remaining amount of cost to us . cant say enough about there customer service and willingness to work with the customer AAA Company. read more
