Especially in the summer it's almost impossible to find a parking spot or a place to sit. People park their cars a few hundred metres down the road. The place is popular amongst bikers and sports fans come here to watch soccer games on the screen. Smoking is prohibited in the main restaurant but there's an indoor patio with long tables and benches where you can smoke. Kinda like a beer garden. In the summer you can sit on the huge outdoor patio, too. They have a typical American menu with heaps of burgers, pizzas, meats and salads to choose from. You'll also find typical pub food like onion rings and mozzarella sticks on the menu. The food is amazing!!! I have only tried their vegetarian food but comin here often I can speak for my meat-loving friends too. It's so good I'd actually kill for one of their veggie burgers right now. It's hard to find places that sell veggie burgers at all. The only reason I dont come here as often as I'd like to are the prices. Burger prices range between €4.95 (Hamburger) and €12.95 (Burn Out Burger Giant XXXL). The price is for the burger only. No side or salad. Dips cost extra. So if u get potato wedges for example u pay an extra €1.45 just for a little bowl of sour cream. That's the price for most dips (Garlic Sauce, BBQ Sauce etc.). There's a few cheaper ones for either €0.45 or €0.95. BUT if all you need is ketchup then you'll be happy to hear that there's complimentary ketchup bottles on the tables at least. Pizzas (24cm) cost about €7. The finger food is rather expensive. Drinks aren't that cheap either. Still it's definitely a place worth goin to! So if you're in the area or you wanna take your bike for a ride come check it out. You won't regret it!

You will find all the Americana you want, but I was more focused in finding something in the menu that was not a giant burger. I choose the fish salad and seemed to be the German version of the fish and chips. I love the fried here, especially the rustic style. Maybe they grow them in the huge field outside? For the locals, seems to be pretty popular among the biker community. I would have not known or gone to this area unless was work related, so it was ok for me.

In America, or Chicago at least, no one who's of legal drinking age and has any sort of respect for themselves goes to places like this. Bars like this are reserved for people who are freshly 21 and don't know any better, freshly divorced and looking to slum it, or for tourists who got got tricked into coming here. In this case, we were the Americans-in-Germany version of the latter. Our guide took us here thinking we'd be impressed with this 'American' bar. Obviously, that didn't happen. For any Chicagoans reading this, this bar is located in the Viagra Triangle of Düsseldorf and this place (along with all it's neighbors) would be the 'Mothers'... but at least we know where to send our guide when he visits Chicago next. Payback, for sure. The clientele seemed mostly older, divorcee-aged, though there were a few younger tables. The main level is sticky and standing room only and the crowd goes wild for songs that are perpetually lame to everyone in America besides mid-life crisis suffering suburbanites and people who enjoy piano bars. Songs like 'Who let the dogs out?', anything from Papa Roach and/or Nickelback, new-ish Bon Jovi releases, Lou Bega's 'Mambo #5', and more... but not ironically. A music video mash-up that did not match the songs that were actually being spun played on the overhead flat-screens. I was a particularly big fan of the Aretha Franklin video in black and white, Usher live in concert, and a raunchy Rihanna video. I'm not sure what the 3 had to do with each other, but it was fun to try and guess what the person who did mix them together was thinking. Our guide noted that they mix a mean Redbull vodka, but since the rest of us value our lives and do our best to not mix our uppers and downers, we all just opted for a straight beer. No surprise here with an altbier, but we sucked it up since were heading to Belgium the next day and knew we wouldn't have to drink any more light beers the rest of the trip. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but keep in mind we also came here sober. It's probably a lot better to come here after you've already spent a sizable amount of time imbibing.

I've been going to this place forever. It's one of the places where my friends and I used to hang…read moreout quite a lot. Back in the days when it was still called 'Lucky Strike Original Diner'. We met to have breakfast, skip class or for late night snacks and burgers. Times have changed -- the portions became smaller and more pricey unfortunately. However, I still love to go to this place. Nowadays what you get is a medium sized burger, accompanied by a couple of fries (criss-cuts if you wish, which are pretty wicked). I usally stick to the Betty Boob Bacon burger and have hardly tired any other items on their board (except their American breakfast which is also small). The juicy BBB however is tasty, especially with extra bacon (a mandatory upgrade IMHO). So I can't judge most of the other food options on their board, but they got plenty. I recommend ordering an extra bowl of fries or some sort of starter as the menu won't be anywhere near American size meals. Also the shakes are delicious. Make sure to try those. My favorites are the Peanut Butter Shake and the mighty Snickers Shake which is not on the menue, but will be made upon request. They also offer season specific shakes. Cream soda (which I recall as Coke Float) is also a classic which goes well with a starter. The interior (and exterior) is reminiscent of an American Diner in the 50s and 60s. The atmosphere is unique. They even got a 'Wait to be seated sign" which is used when the place is packed. Nice! Years ago it used to be surrounded by grassland which was pretty cool. Staff is overall friendly and very helpful when it's decision making time. On my birthday I even got a tasty hot brownie with cream on the house, so that's what I call great customer service. This place is often packed with people and at times it can be busy, so remember to either make a reservation or bring some time. Before I forget: They have a Wednesday evening burger special. Buy one, get one free. But take my advice: You won't even get a seat without a reservation on Wednesday nights. In a nutshell: + OK food + Good milkshakes + Nice atmosphere + Ok staff - Small dishes - Small, bland breakfast - Pricey - Hard to get to with public transport - Could have more original food items from the US (like American MTN DEW on tab, fluffy pancakes, etc.) ===UPDATE Dec 2013=== We had breakfast at this place again after years of not having breakfast there. To cut right to the chase: It was highly disappointing. Yes, the waitress was nice and friendly and I always feel obliged to still tip decently when at least the service was acceptable... But the food was not up for it. I remember the portions to be way bigger. Instead after finishing that little bit of omelet that was tossed on a much too big plate I considered ordering a second menu item, which I didn't do in the end because the food was just too bad. The eggs were very greasy, and there was not much bacon on my bacon omelet. It came with some toast and hash browns which weren't well done but instead still had an aftertaste of raw potato. The price for the quality of the food and overall size was off the chart - not recommended for breakfast anymore.
