The Lilley Mansion

The Lilley Mansion

I hate to set the bar so high because no place is perfect. Oh wait, there is a place that's…read moreperfect. It's the Lilley Mansion! We were fortunate enough to come across this elegant bed and breakfast while searching online for a last minute weekend getaway. Our dog shares the same name as this B&B so we took that as a sign that this was our place. We stayed in the Lilley Suite. It was especially beautiful. The bathtub is perfect. I've never left a review about a bathtub. This one is just exceptional in terms of how comfortable it is to soak in. We loved our breakfast and the coffee. Patrick, and everyone we met, were welcoming and fun to chat with. The dining room is so special! We loved the plants and the ambience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The Lilley Mansion is absolutely delightful in every way!

The owner and operator, Patrick, is a gift to the lakeshore community. He is a visionary artist and it is evident in everything he touches--from the way he decorated the manse, to the way he plated the food--everything has an artist's touch. Cassie, who really is the engine behind the operations, is one of the best event planners I have ever interacted with. She is cool, calm, collected and an absolutely brilliant problem solver. Together, these two come together and bring to life everything you didn't even realize you wanted or needed at your special event. The rooms are absolutely luxe, and each bathroom is equipped with an amazing soaking tub. All of my 36 guests who attended my intimate wedding could not stop raving about every single detail. I will be forever grateful to Patrick, Cassie and the entire Lilley team for taking such exquisite care of us. We will remember our wedding because it was perfect down to the tiny little details. If you are looking for a unique wedding experience, this is the place to have it!

The Looking Glass Bed and Breakfast was the perfect venue for our four days in Grand Haven MI. The owner, Brian, runs a first class operation in a charming old house, delightfully and comfortably furnished and well suited to our tastes. We had the run of the house and access to all the common areas, including the beautiful front deck with its unobstructed views of Lake Michigan. One thing that needs to be mentioned: the house sits at the top of a steep hill. The only access is to walk up 71 stairs or to take the electrically operated railway car (funicular). Brian has the only one on this side of the hill. Not a bad walk, if you are in shape. Ever the congenial host, Brian bent over backwards to accommodate our group. He was attentive to our needs and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were smacking our lips over his delicious breakfasts, served hot and promptly prepared each morning. We were given our own refrigerator space for group meals and he allowed us to hold daily Happy Hour. Enjoying snacks and a glass of wine, we enjoyed the incredible vistas through the wide picture windows, the perfect backdrop for photos. We quickly became captive to the delights of this beach front property. He even gave the okay for a small musical group to come to entertain us on our final night cookout on the deck. When evening chill settled in, we were comfortably ensconced into the commodious living room. At our invitation, he brought his wife and toddler to join us for the meal and the music. Thus we all danced, sang and partied with abandon in the face of a glorious sunset to end a most convivial and memorable vacation.

The staircase from the parking area to the inn is a little daunting, but there's a small funicular that will take you up most of the incline if you'd rather spare your calves. (Accessibility note: All of the guest rooms are on the second floor, so there are stairs regardless.) It would have been nice to have more towels and washcloths stocked in the bathroom, and leaving some lights on in the common areas would be welcome. Brian recommended some excellent dinner spots, and he makes a mean breakfast casserole. We really enjoyed our visit to Grand Haven and are already planning a return trip.

We called and fortunately for us they were available and took us in within minutes of calling! Now I do not hunt so I used this place more as a bed and breakfast rather than for the hunting aspect. Upon driving up to the ranch, we were greeted with nothing but the utmost respect. All of the ranch hands and staff are truly kind gentlemen and welcomed us with hospitality. We went on a day where it had snowed something terrible the day before and our car could not make it up the driveway. They gave us a ride in one of their pickup trucks up to the lodge and while we settled in, they plowed for us and even drove our car up for us so we didn't have to go back in the cold! They let us have our pick of the rooms available and even carried all of our luggage to it! Breakfast was served the next morning at our desired time and the cook was very sweet and catered to everybody's individual preferences with professionalism. The lodge itself is absolutely stunning and very clean and also quite large! It had a grand living room, a bar room complete with fireplace and stocked wood, a sauna, a massage room, and an open kitchen with an extra large dining area that opened up to the back porch that had the most beautiful view of the land below! We had the whole place to ourselves. It was literally like having our own extra large "cabin in the woods" to ourselves the entire night! The lodge was extremely clean and decorated tastefully. I'm not at all into hunting or taxidermy but could still appreciate how beautiful the lodge was decorated and built otherwise. Modern with a cozy feel! Would definitely be back. Would make for one awesome getaway with a group of family or friends! A++ and definitely worth checking out if you love that feeling of being lost in nature. :) calm and beautiful. Thank you for the awesome stay, gentlemen!

This place, if you choose to hunt here, will teach you how to clean, dress, and cook your venison! Even those who don't hunt will find a great place in the off season to hike the trails. The meals were delicious, every one of them! The room was comfortable and spacious, and there are only 6 of them, so you will never feel crowded with too many guests. 24 hour access to ice, fridge, and soft drinks is a nice touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come again.

At the check-in desk, the receptionist provided a token for a free appetizer from the on-site restaurant, and there was a basket of complimentary cookies for guests! My room seemed more renovated than the photos of the hotel rooms online, which was a pleasant surprise, and was extremely comfortable. The TV had the option to cast from your personal device, so you are able to stream Netflix/YouTube from the big screen! I had no issues with the wifi during my stay. There was also a black-out blind which helped since the sun does set until after 9pm here! The location was also extremely convenient located on Main St - walking distance to downtown (1 mile), and just a short drive to Fremont Lake Park. The restaurant is open weekdays starting at 4pm, and has weekly specials. You can choose to eat at a table in the restaurant, or order to-go and have your meal delivered straight to your room.
