I am a 30 year resident of Georgetown County and have been a patient at GMH many times. Over the last two years I have had multiple surgeries and a week long stay at GMH due to my battle with breast cancer and also my breast reconstruction. My experience during this time has been incredible! First, my breast surgeon, Dr. Brackett, is absolutely phenomenal! I have been under his care since my first breast cancer diagnosis in 2011. Dr. Brackett and his OR team are simply amazing. I can't say enough about how kind, caring and brilliant they are! They work so well together and truly made me feel so cared for. I am so lucky to have had Dr. Brackett and his team caring for me. Dr. Brackett introduced me to my reconstruction doctor, Dr. Marga Massey. I have been seeing her since 2022. She completed 4 surgeries on me at GMH in 2022 and then 2 more big surgeries on me just this past month. Dr. Marga is simply a ROCK STAR! She literally made me new breasts out of my tummy! The DIEP flap surgery she completed included two days of surgeries at aproximately 9 hours each surgery. Dr. Marga is so personable and she is a TOTAL EXPERT in her field! I could not be more thankful that she is here in Georgetown and dedicated to helping breast cancer patients feel better about themselves through the reconstructive surgery that she performs. She has performed surgeries all over the US and other countries, and she said GMH is her absolute favorite OR of all. This certainly put me at ease. The Yawkey Surgery Pavillion is a state of the art facility and I can't speak highly enough about it. As the anesthesiologist was getting ready to put me to sleep, I remember thinking how grateful I was to be in such a high tech OR with such an incredible medical team. I also just want to say how much I love the community feel of this hospital. The kind lady that checked me in for all of my surgeries over the past 2 years, was so kind to give me a card and gift upon one check in. It was such a nice personal touch. The nurses both on the OR floor and 2nd floor were excellent in both their skill set and their caring and empathetic ways. The RNs, CNAs, Anesthesiologist, Physical Therapy Team, Patient Advocates, Cafeteria Team and Cleaning Team all did a fantastic job! I would highly recommend Georgetown Memorial Hospital. During 2022 and early 2023 I have had four surgeries there. Everything from the initial intake process to checkout went smoothly. The breast oncology surgeon, Dr. Craig Brackett, and his OR team were great. Each nurse was skilled, efficient and caring. Dr. Marga Massey, my reconstruction and gel implant surgeon, and her OR team were so wonderful as well. The prep and post-op nurses were so positive and encouraging. Dr. Ford, my anesthesiologist, listened to my concerns---I had no after effects. I think that one of the important characteristics of my care was that every single person (especially my surgeons) took time to get to know me and explained all of the procedures. The hospital facility is spacious, attractive and immaculate. Again, I would highly recommend the hospital for its oncology and surgical services. My doctors and nurses are the best of the best. I must preface this review by saying that not all of my experiences here have been positive. I am writing today though, to review a recent visit and surgical experience at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial. I found the staff to be friendly, and efficient, upon arrival. I required a specific procedure to acquire a vein for an IV, and they gave me Jess, who was beyond professional, sweet, and completely lives up to the tag she wears, "Vein Whisperer"! I attribute this accommodation to my Dr.'s Administrative Assistant, or right hand, Amy Rasmussen. Her professionalism, compassion, persistence, and follow-up deserve 5 stars, on their own! My surgeon Marga Massey is a compassionate, expert micro-surgeon, who shows a thoroughness and precision to every step of her process, Bravo! And, my recovery room nurse Courtney was professional, funny and warm, like a nurse should be. Thank you Georgetown Memorial for a wonderful experience! read more

My wife was recently hospitalized at GMH for a week as she underwent a right breast mastectomy and breast reconstruction on both breasts. Her breast surgeon team included Dr. Craig Brackett and Dr. Marga Massey. They are both excellent surgeons and we feel very lucky that they are the ones that performed my wife's surgeries. They have extensive knowledge in their fields and made my wife feel so at ease with all that she was going to be going through. Their care before, during and after her surgeries has been wonderful. My wife had a great experience at GMH. The care she received from all of the different medical personnel was outstanding. The compassion she was shown from everyone involved meant so much to us. The Yawkey Surgery Pavilion was exceptional and it is wonderful that we have such a fantastic surgery center located right in Georgetown. read more

I was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago. Over the course of a year, I have had approximately 4-5 surgeries at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. The hospital has been renovated and is extremely clean. All of the staff that provided care and checked me in were absolutely wonderful. I was admitted to the hospital after one surgery and had a great experience with the nightshift nurses and CNAs that took care of me. I chose Georgetown Memorial Hospital due to their nationally recognized breast cancer program with dedicated breast surgical oncologists. I have been so pleased and impressed with my time at this hospital and would recommend it to anyone. read more

I have had four major surgeries as well as two minor ones at Georgetown Hospital since August of 2022. In addition to two wonderful surgeons, the surgical teams, nurses and aides were great. They were professional, caring, patient and compassionate. Although not all breast cancer patients choose to have breast reconstruction, I think women should be aware that Georgetown Hospital has one of the best plastic surgeons in the country performing microsurgical breast reconstruction (also known as DIEP flap procedure). Tidelands Memorial Hospital is one of the best hospitals I've used and I've been to plenty in my 62 years. They have the number 1 Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction surgeon on staff. The nurses are very compassionate not only to me, the patient, but to my husband who stayed the week with me in my room. They have an expert regional and general anesthesia services. The facility has recently been renovated and is exceptionally clean. The facility is easy to access as well as free parking. I have recommended Tidelands to friends and co- workers. My wife has recently had three surgical procedures performed at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. During all three stays at the hospital, the doctors, nurses and staff we totally supportive of both my wife and me. From the security guard at the entrance to the surgeons performing the procedures, everyone conducted themselves professionally and with concern that our needs were being met.
