When I went in, I was immediately greeted and felt welcome. I recently pulled my guitar out of storage and was looking to just get the strings changed. I bought so much stuff from them when I was playing semi- professionally and George only had the one store that I should be a part owner! Those were the days when George was in the store every day! I don't usually rate retail outlets, but I was really impressed by this place. I went here just to buy strings. I drive by this place at least once a week and from the outside, I've always thought man that place probably is a dump. I was totally wrong. This place is well organized, and well run by some of the most friendly and helpful (mind you I was only buying strings) people I've ever met at a music equipment store. (as compared to those snob-like long haired rockers at other places I've been). They have a pretty typical selection of guitars, mostly Ibanez. Down in the basement they have a sound studio where you can try out guitars. If you're in the area and need gear, this is definitely the place to go. read more

I have an extensive history with George's Music and each experience there has been not only productive but pleasant as well! Due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control, today I was in a serious bind related to music I needed for a funeral service tomorrow. Small store but decent guitar selection that is always changing. Been in here three times in the last month and each time saw a few different options. Not a ton of brands to choose from but I prefer this to too many. Phil and Tom are both great. Not pushy at all, but extremely helpful. Tons of accessory choices, strings, peddles and more. I have been a customer here for just over a year. In that time I have purchased 3 bass guitars, 1 UBass (uke bass), 2 amps, pedals. The staff there have become like my personal musician's counsel. They listen, understand what you are looking for and match you with the right product. They wont try to up-sell if it doesn't fit the need, as a matter of fact they down sold me on an amp (even though I was willing to pay more) because they wanted to keep the business and build trust. I felt compelled to write this review after seeing other reviews which mostly are positive, however, I saw a couple that were not. The prices are on point and they always have specials and deals, so i disagree that prices are high. and with regard to the 1 rant that they wouldn't drop everything to re-string someone's guitar on the spot: 1st they don't have someone on staff that does nothing but re-string all day. 2nd, when they do take your instrument in for what appears to be a simple service, they polish and condition the guitar, adjust the rod, string and fine tune it all for about $20.00. Again, I WON'T do business anywhere else other than this specific location when it comes to my needs. My son also got a bass there, takes lessons and the staff were sure after a few months to offer him a change in teacher because he was excelling and needed a better fit (shows you how tuned they become) read more

What appears to be a seemingly small music store actually has a large selection of instruments and equipment. Prices are reasonable, basically consistent with any of the big boys. The staff is very friendly/helpful, and you actually don't have to search and wait to find somebody willing to help you out. I decided to give them a shot and enroll my kid for piano lessons and am happy that I did. The whole staff knows me and my family by first name and the lessons have been great thus far. So I go in there today just to have some new strings put on my PRS Santana. I know I could do it myself but I was going to be out all day and I was willing to pay someone so I could just play when I got home. So the guy there tells me it would be 2 1/2 weeks. Excuse me? I am disabled and don't speak very well so I repeated myself to make sure he understood. He said he had a backlog of guitars in the back all needing strings that was 2 1/2 weeks long, I kid you not, he tells me this is a busy time of year for string changes. So lets do the math. It takes me about 40 minutes to change strings on a guitar. An experienced tech probably does it in less than half that but lets say it takes 30 minutes for them to change strings. So 8 hours a day 5 days would be 80 guitars a week. So for a 2 1/2 week backlog that means he has 200 guitars in back waiting for strings? Sounds like bs to me, just a guy who didn't want to be bothered. And another point, when I went in the store it was empty except for two employees neither of whom seemed to be doing much of anything let alone changing strings. You know I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and I can't remember once when a guitar shop didn't change strings while I waited, sometimes for free (I pay for the strings of course). And while I wait what do I do? Check out their stuff and maybe buy something. Seems like good business but I don't think they really want my business and so they're not going to get it. read more
