As soon as I met the team at South Texas, spine and surgical Hospital, I immediately knew I was in the best hands. Dr. Albert and his team were absolutely amazing, professional, and truly concerned about my pre-and postop surgical needs. This hospital is owned by doctors and it is evident that they put their patients first. Everyone in the hospital even housekeeping were checking on me asking me if I needed anything and just holding my hand for comfort. The physical therapy team never left my side and was always watching me to make sure that I was getting in and out of bed with care. My postop care has been incredible. I have an occupational therapist, physical therapist, and a home healthcare nurse that come and visit me three times a week. I even received a beautiful get well card from the pre-op staff. When you make an appointment with him you do not actually see him. You see one of his PAs. I expected to see him on my consultation visit to explain the surgery he was going to perform, not his PA. The day of the surgery he came by when I was in the waiting area before going into the OR, and he stopped by to introduce himself, and said we would be going into surgery in a few minutes, and then walked away with no explanation of what he would be doing. When I scheduled the follow up appointment I specifically told the receptionist I wanted to see the doctor. She informed me that I could not make the appointment to see the doctor, but that he would be in the clinic that day, and I could ask the PA to ask him to come into the exam room. What kind of doctor does this? I had the same surgery done over 20 years ago, on a different disc, with much better results. So, I guess I am also questioning his skills as a surgeon. My advice to anyone considering back surgery is to find another surgeon.

In December of 2023 I was sent to Dr. Mena for spinal nerve pain. The the waiting room looked like…read morean old motel with a horrible musty smell. I confirmed with the receptionist that I was at the correct place. The carpet was old and stained and needed cleaning. The seating was dated from the 1970s and needed repairs. I was eventually taken to the back in an area used to perform medical procedures. Privacy was not a high standard for changing into a gown. I'm surprised HIPPA violations have not been filed. The smell from the waiting room lingered to the back. He stated he would clean and numb the area on my upper spine. The procedure was very painful with a small bandaid for any bleeding. I paid more than half the cost to wait for my insurance to pick up the difference. After a follow up with my back doctor I found out I had contracted MERSA. Dr. Mena with South Texas spinal was the only medical clinic I had been to. Dr. mena was informed and not concerned. I was treated for 6 weeks with expensive antibiotics. I have a grouped payment plan with Methodist Health since my back surgery. I'm retired and live on a fixed income. I have been making payments to Dr Mena through Methodist plan. They still sent me to collections for last than $200. Dr. Mena should pay for the antibiotics and treatment for MERSA. I would never recommend care at this facility.

I saw this person for a lumbar esi when I first came to this group. He hit the nerve causing that electric shock and jolt running down my leg! I let it go and went with another Dr in the group, Dr Mithani, and he was the perfect doctor for me for the next 1 1/2yrs. Well my perfect doctor moved out of state and I was left with the leftover MDs. I soon found myself needing another esi and my PA John is not able to provide this treatment. So here again is dr.v, to which my first instinct was to cancel my appointment. but I was having so much pain that I really needed this injection. I could only hope he would be focused this time around. I even let him know that I didn't want a repeat of the last time. Well he did it again and he had the nerve to shush me and tried to blame me for not getting the IV sedation!!! Now I have had these injections for over 20yrs and not once did my other 3 providers hit the nerve!! This man is an incompetent sadist who enjoys hurting and not healing patients. I had worked as a trauma nurse for almost twenty years, always was a little hesitant in trusting a particular pain management doctor with treating my back. I had seen a few doctors for help but was only hurried through an initial exam with no thorough questions or diagnostic workup. When I saw Dr. Vasireddy he asked the right questions, listened to my own and promised that if I gave him a chance he would get rid of my pain. I agreed. He did an MRI, followed by a spinal injection and within 72 hours my back and leg pain were gone. He continues to treat other areas of my back. He's the best, I know. His staff is a kind and knowledgeable part of the team. He offers the entire physician experience!

She was extremely thorough in testing me to make sure there wasn't something else causing my headaches. The time she spent educating me about my headaches and treatment options was amazing (way more then any doctor I have ever seen and I have seen many "specialists" and family doctors). She tried a couple different medications and now both my headaches and blood pressure (and other problems) are under excellent control. It is super easy to see her as a follow up patient and I even can get in to see her the same day or the same week as when I call her office. I have told many friends, co-workers and family members to see her and everyone has had a wonderful experience.
