It was very targeted and I felt like a new person. The second round didn't seem to be quite as effective, but I did also ask for more coverage and I'm thinking I should've just stayed focused on the site of injury rather than the areas where pain radiates. I wish my insurance would cover more frequent injections for times like this, but Dr. Zach was really great about discussing other options and communicating with my insurance and myself, so that I don't come in and have to pay out-of-pocket for anything without knowing about it well in advance. The front desk girl, I feel so terrible that I forget her name, but she has always been really wonderful with me, as were Samantha (vitals) & Maria (procedures). I appreciate being listened to, heard, and not treated like someone who's just trying to come in and get prescriptions. All I want is targeted relief, to avoid oral medication, and to remain myself through the process of healing. It seems like they really respect that that is my preference. They call me and answer the phone, which is more than I can say for the other pain management doctor I've been sent to.

I had read a little about the success of ketamine assisted psychotherapy for anxiety (among other things). Transcend just opened up nearby, and I decided to give it a shot. In 6 sessions, it changed my life. That droning "baseline" anxiety I would always feel is gone, my outlook on life dramatically improved, and I no longer feel irritable. Most ketamine clinics just give you some ketamine and send you on your way (check the therapeutic ketamine subreddit and see what others do). Transcend is unique in that you are talking with a psychotherapist during the entire infusion, which is much more therapeutic than ketamine, alone. Then there's Will. He's the head nurse on staff at Transcend. He goes out of his way to make sure you are getting the most out of your therapy. In addition, he probably knows more about the research and science behind ketamine therapy than most doctors in the field. In December of 2023 I was sent to Dr. Mena for spinal nerve pain. The the waiting room looked like…read morean old motel with a horrible musty smell. I confirmed with the receptionist that I was at the correct place. The carpet was old and stained and needed cleaning. The seating was dated from the 1970s and needed repairs. I was eventually taken to the back in an area used to perform medical procedures. Privacy was not a high standard for changing into a gown. I'm surprised HIPPA violations have not been filed. The smell from the waiting room lingered to the back. He stated he would clean and numb the area on my upper spine. The procedure was very painful with a small bandaid for any bleeding. I paid more than half the cost to wait for my insurance to pick up the difference. After a follow up with my back doctor I found out I had contracted MERSA. Dr. Mena with South Texas spinal was the only medical clinic I had been to. Dr. mena was informed and not concerned. I was treated for 6 weeks with expensive antibiotics. I have a grouped payment plan with Methodist Health since my back surgery. I'm retired and live on a fixed income. I have been making payments to Dr Mena through Methodist plan. They still sent me to collections for last than $200. Dr. Mena should pay for the antibiotics and treatment for MERSA. I would never recommend care at this facility.

I am not the patient but would like to talk about the office experience my mother had. She…read moreinitially had an appointment over a month ago to get shots in her neck for pain. She went on her appointment day only to find out they forgot about her appointment and sent her home with a new appointment for last week. She went on the new date and was told she didn't follow their instructions prior to this date (stopping one of her medications for 4 days) and was told that they will not treat her because she can't follow instructions. These instructions were never given to her so she was very upset. The nurse told my mom that the doctor will not be treating her because he has many other patients to attend to. Mind you the office was taken over by this new group of doctors recently and she has not even met the new doctor. She has had the same pain injections by the former doctor without ever having issues. A few days ago my mom received a certified letter stating that they do not want her as a patient anymore. My mom is 82. She has pancreatic cancer, Parkinson's and RA. Would not send anyone you care about to this place!

The first time I met my doctor, he was accompanied by a sales representative for a spinal device that the practice was aggressively hawking. I had been warned about the questionable ethics of this group before I went, but I was in pain and desperate and knew no alternatives. When I called six months later to make an appointment, I was told my doctor was no longer with the group. That did not surprise me since I had noticed before I made my first appointment that the doctors with the highest customer ratings no longer worked there, even though they still appeared to be with the practice in online ratings. When I requested my doctor's new contact information, the staff refused to give me any information. This response seemed extraordinary to me, and again, not ethical.

I told him to leve a message that I have called for four hours straight and no return call. He told me to call back during regular business hours. I told the rude SO- that their hours are 8am to 5pm weekdays and it was 4 pm. He said that I am a new patient I would have to call back Monday. I did and went thru the same BS. Done with this Practice. Dr. Ma Luo might be good, but his office staff needs ADJUSTMENT.

My mom was having terrible back pain so we went here for ER visit #3 in just one week. We had gone…read moreto a neighborhood Baptist the first two times so I wanted to try this hospital instead. Neighborhood Baptist seems to employ once retired doctors which has been fine the previous visits my mom had but this time we needed a different approach to her issue so I'm glad we went here. This ER is staffed with either medical school doctors or doctors fresh from graduation. We were helped by a very nice doctor named Dr. Smith who ordered a new CT scan. The previous scan could not on point the exact reason for the lower back pain. This time, when the Hospital radiologists reviewed the scan, they saw she had T1 and T2 compression fractures on her spine which gave the direct cause of her pain. They prescribed muscle relaxers and Lidocaine patches. It helped bridge my mom's move to hospice much better than the previous visits. She ended up needing a stronger pain intervention but I'm so grateful they gave us the diagnosis that explained the pain. Methodist Hospital offers free valet in the weekdays which I suggest you use because the parking lot was packed and finding a spot would have been an extra stress I did not need at the time.
